Neapolis Hotel

Above average rooms, free internet access in each room, a superb, great value restaurant outside on the pavement, spotlessly clean, very helpful, good value, located right in the old part of town near some really great restaurants and away from the bulk of the traffic - we enjoyed our stay and don't have a bad word to say.

Wasn't a fancy place, but nice enough for us, and clean. The lift was in a courtyard, and just outside the building was a cafe. It seemed the hotel had a restaurant downstairs, Griffo or something, but it was closed and under construction. The staff was pleasant enough but not very fluent in English. It was hard to ask where to eat, or for directions. Plus, the highlight of the hotel, FREE INTERNET in room, was broken for all but about 4 hours when we 1st arrived. Big disappointment! The Neapolis had a great location, right off Via Tribunali, which is the heart of Naples. There is quick and easy access to the best and oldest pizzarias in Naples and to the Piazza Bellini, where you can find a few cafes and a drink or two. The room was clean and comfortable for the most part, but the room had the hardest bed. Despite the bed, I slept fine and it didn't bother me too badly. The hotel is centrally located making it easy to get around Naples (although I'm not sure why you'd want to - Naples is the dirtiest, rudest city we've visited). Room was clean and spacious and the breakfast was typically Italian and adequate. The only negatives are (1)a small lift necessitating two trips with luggage, and (2)the internet connection that was thought to be free, wasn't. The early morning/overnight staff was a little less than welcoming but all other staff members were helpful and friendly.

This hotel is ideally located in the old city and is walking distance to the most important sights, including the Archeology Museum, and bus transport. The staff are friendly and helpful, the internet is free and the breakfasts are good. The rooms are small and not really 3* standard. There is an excellent and cheap restaurant next door. Make sure that you arrange taxis, to and from, through the hotel as it saves the otherwise inevitable rip off.

Hotel has been situated very central in the old centre of Naples. It is only a little bit difficulty to reach with the public transport (walking from the underground railway station Cavour). Chambers are okay and clean, but simple furnished. Shower cabin is quite small (there is only shampoo, so don’t forget to take with you showergel). We stayed there for 3 nights and it was great. Very fine room with free acces to internet. Breakfast was very good. Staff was kind and very helpful. The location is great (one of the view hotels really situated in the old city center) and some pleasant restaurants in the neighbourhood. The hotel was alas hard to find, because on our map (ANWB/DUMONT) it was situated on the wrong side of Piaza Cavour. The best is to take the 23 bus from Piaza Garribaldi to Piaza Dante. Booked a Triple Room at this hotel in Feb 2005 for 2 nights. Good Budget Hotel in the heart of Naples near via Tolado/Piazza Dante. No complaints as we didn't expect The Ritz. Free Internet facility is a bonus for those who like to keep in touch. Breakfast is good by Italian standards. There is a great pizzeria on via dei Tribunali, about 100 yards from the Bell Tower going towards Piazza Dante (can't remember the name). 3 to 5 Euros for a real Nepolitan Pizza, and a bottle of local house red wine is only 4 Euros. Well, I take back what I said about the Neapolis. I intended to make a return visit there in April 2004 and made a reservation back in October 2003. The following month (November 2003) my plans fell through and I had to cancel. I have had to fight TOOTH AND NAIL with them...they charged my credit card for a "no show" even though they willingly accepted my original cancellation and said they would not penalize me. BEWARE...if you plan to stay here and then have to change your plans...they say they give you up to 3 DAYS cancellation... more

Stayed at the Neapolis for two nights in January. Spartan but extremely clean. Full spread for breakfast and good evening bar. Didn't expect third floor location (not street level entrance). Unusual location in "ancient" part of Naples in a very old building. Excellent location for Archeological Museum. Air conditioner for summer -but needed heat for winter. Computer buffs will enjoy flat screen and free internet access from room. Good bargain.
