Disney Old Key West Resort Hotel

May 8, 2004 Old Key West Resort was one of the nicest resorts we've ever stayed in. It was beautifully decorated, clean and the 1 bedroom unit was gigantic! The bus service to the parks were very efficient and super convenient so a rental car was not necessary.NOTE: If you catch the bus from any one of the stops in OKW, plan on 40 minutes to get to the Magic Kingdom. The other parks were quicker but the bus from the Hospitality House is the quickest because it's the last stop in OKW.

Everything about Old Key West is Superb! My family of 5 stayed in a 1-bedroom villa. The villa was spotless, huge, and gorgeous. We had a beautiful view of the golfcourse--bunnies were even outside our deck in the morning! The Disney bus service was quick...and only took about 10 minutes to get to the Magic Kingdom. The housekeeping staff could not have been better! This property was fabulous! Very clean and spacious. We rented a 2 bedroom unit and had 8 people in it. There was plenty of room and we had everything we needed. We used the bus transportaton quite regularly and found it very convenient and easy to use. I would highly recommend this property! We will definitley stay here on our next Disney visit!

Notice I said resort. Old Key West is a resort in the purest sense of the word. This is not a hotel, but a luxury resort. The two bedroom units are well over 1300 square feet, bigger than some homes and are fully equiped with everything you need for a relaxing stay. They even have a jacuzzi big enough to seat 2 (or even three!) The relaxing views are great here and the resort is pure luxury. My family loved OKW. We stayed in a two bedroom on the third floor in building 32. The transportation was right outside our door and the room lwas ovely. We got the full kitchen to save lots on dining out and did so. The kitchen was bit lacking in pots and pans though, but it wouldn't keep me from going back. Taking the boat to Downtown is lots of fun. We use to get the one bedroom suites at hotels like Sheraton Safari or Holiday Inn Family Suites, but this exceeds those experiences.

The Old Key West Resort was great for this family of four AFTER we checked in! Here's my brief story: In addition to my immediate family of four, we had two grandparents and a sister in-law joining us for our 10 day trip. We had booked Disney's Old Key West Resort approximately 9 months before our actual trip dates of October 16 - 26. We bought at Old Key West when it first opened and have gone every year at least twice. It's the best. The children grew up there knowing everyone. We stayed for two weeks in March and every year they looked forwarded to going back and seeing the staff. It's family friendly. Our children are grown teenagers and they are now taking their college friends with them. It's like a second home to them. We will be there in November, for Christmas and for two weeks in March. We have been DVC members for 7 years now and have stayed in Old Key West over a dozen times. We have never been disappointed with the standard of accommodation or service. The resort is absolutely beautiful and is a real oasis of calm in a very busy holiday destination! The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is definitely tropical - helped by the great calypso music played by the pool as you sip your pina colada. If it were not for the size of this resort it would have been perfect. Because we were in Bldg 38 we were near the Turtle Bay Pool but it was quite a walk to the Hospitality House and the Main Pool, Playground etc. The internal bus didn't come often enough. We love the size of our villa and the amenities. We took the ferry (pontoon boat) to Downtown Disney a few times and really enjoyed it. Although this is a WDW resort, I found it to be not so kid friendly for a couple of reasons. In order to go to the pools, the two that were closest to us were more then a hike to get to. The arcade there was only the size of a large closet with handful of games. The roads in and around the unit we stayed were too busy for allowing our teenager to take our 8 year old around. I did not find anyplace for our children to just play without having to hop a bus or get in the car to go to the main check-in area by Olivia's to use the playground. We... more
