La Quinta Inn I Drive North Hotel Reviews

9 / 10
Jul 2007, Mr J Hirst

Great hotel, friendly staff, rooms clean and spacious. Avoid the site by the interstate as it is a little noisy at night. Opt for a room near the pool if you have children. Great pool clean and ideal for children, although watch the hot tub. Free breakfast is ok, although... more

Hat's off to the Red Horse Inn
On my recent trip to Orlando I decided to stay at the Red Horse Inn because I had never heard of it before. It was great! The staff was friendly and the room was clean. The breakfast was a nice change from the usal coffee and doughnuts you get at most other hotels. Why this place is not a chain is beyond me!
Far Exceeded my expectations.
I was there just after they had all the hurricanes. The staff was busy as bees, cleaning up, repairing extensive damage (theytold me they even had a part of one exterior wall blown off!). The staff was attentive and VERY concerned about all guests' welfare. It was hard to believe the hotel had had three hurricanes--the last one only a few days ago. Except for a little roof tiles off and some tree debris down, the inn was very clean and they maid service was great--all service was great! It's not full serviced (you know, restaurant, banquets a big bar and that stuff), but it's a real nice "limited service" (I guess that's what they call it). They have a FREE breakfast called "Cowboy Breakfast" and it's great--Jimmy Deans' suasage bisquits, etc. I'm a country boy and loved it. It's a real good value.
Very comfortable
Recently stayed at the Red Horse Inn on International Drive in Orlando, FL......Was there only one night but the service was so friendly and the room so comfortable, had to make sure to send out this review....The check-in was friendly, efficient and hassle-free but my favorite part was the room....Was very clean and the king-size bed was very, very comfortable (slept like a baby), would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends....Thank you....
Not A Good Choice
Go elsewhere - I was disappointed by the smells, the stains, the noise and to be honest, I don't think they cared. They actually shut off my phone without any explaination the second day because they forgot to record my credit card. Then they fed me notes under my door about other things they forgot. It felt like a dorm. Good points: cheap, central, good breakfast and cheap. But I would never have stayed longer than one night if my kids were there.
Excellent Hotel
The Red Horse Inn is an amaizing experience. From when you step into the western themed lobby, until you arrive at your wonderfully appointed room, the hotel provides an experience to remember. My wife and I recently stayed on our fifth wedding anniversary. I advised hotel management of the occassion, and they went out of their way to make the stay special. The location is in the heart of all Orlando has to offer, and the service is impeccable. I could not recommend this hotel any more highly.
Above and beyond
We were one of the lucky one's to be able to secure a hotel room during Hurricane Frances. the hotel staff durung a troubling time were very helpful. We were also so happy that we could bring our dogs with us. It was nice that they never lost power. We hope to visit again hopfully with out a hurricane hitting Florida.
Very Basic
We were led to believe this was 3star, it’s at most a 1 star hotel. Windows all nailed closed, see daylight through door frame, 156 rooms but only 7 tables & 16 seats for joke of a breakfast. Choice of toast (if bread was there), cereal or hard buns! Pool freezing despite advertised as heated. Some rooms in process of being decorated but not ours. Ice machines that crunched ice throughout night making more noise than a truck outside your room. Plugs in sink and bath didn’t work, shower was terrible. OK if very short stay or not planning on being there. Even for basic I’m positive you can get better further up Int. Drive for same as what we paid. We didn’t go home ‘till bed time as Hotel wasn’t an attractive place to hang about. Forget about sitting on the saddles, there are two at reception and not for having breakfast. Can’t comment on staff as we cleared out 1st thing and returned home 11pm. Not Recommended.
Never
Do not stay here.Rooms stink (like wet dogs) and I'm probably insulting the dog. Bathrooms are in need of modernisation and are dirty. Pool was filthy and as for the kids pool, it look liked people used it to go to the toilet in. We only managed one night here out a seven we had booked. Also reception staff don't care about complaints and there was no manager on duty.
Management response from A TripAdvisor Member 09 Dec 2004

In response to review dated September 28, 2004, I would like to note that this trip was at the tail end of our 4th hurricane in 6 weeks. Due to all the rain the hotel did incur some water damage and that may account for the mildew smell. The pool was also affected , leaves from tress clogging drains etc. and the kids pool had to be completely drained, cleaned and re-filled due to all the rain the chemical levels were not safe to swim. As for there being no manager on duty September 28th was a Tuesday in addition to myself my Front Office Manager was also on property.

A bit misleading
We stayed at the Red Horse Inn last September. It was clear that the photos that were used on the website were of the rooms that had recently been modernised, as we didn't get one of those. It was dark, dingy, the safe did not work and the electric points seemed unsafe and sparked when we plugged things in! Luckily we were only booked in for 2 nights at the start of our trip around Florida. We would not go there again or recommend it to anyone. It was the first time I had been to the US and it was not the sort of room I had been led to believe was the norm out there.
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Cockroach problem!!!!!!
Found cockroaches on 3 seperate days in room, and when I approached the staff they said it was from all the rain. The cable was out all week, hairdryer didn't work, and the pool was filthy. They charge you a $5/day resort fee? Good location , but you are better off sleeping on the street
