We all went to Moteverde August 2007 on a late minute deal. There were two adults and a 12 yr old. Now on arrival to our hotel we were given our room keys and just wanted to lie down after our journey. The receptionist didn’t speak a word of English so we were off to a good start.
The room we were allocated only had two beds!! So after a while of sign language we finally got our third bed. In the form of a mattress on the floor!!!! We were informed by the manager that he would allocate us a bigger room next day.
The next day came, and after what seemed like endless complaining we finally got our room after 6hrs of waiting. The rooms are clean I have to admit but very basic which is to be expected of the price we paid.
Porto Cristo in itself is a pretty resort and the beach was very small but we always could find a bed (which I might add was 10.5 euros for two beds and a brolly) but as the previous review states did shut at 8 0n the night leaving nothing much to do. I suggest you get a taxi or a bus into Cala Millor, which was only 4 miles away and is fantastic and open all night!!!
The pool at Monteverde was excellent very clean and always had space to sunbathe (however only very limited sun beds and mainly chairs).
The entertainment was very limited in the week, we saw 2 shows and a game of bingo which I have to say was very poor!!! Selective staff are friendly but not many, they didn’t appear to enjoy there job and I feel were very rude in some instances.
The food well? It was edible I suppose. Breakfast was okay with the normal eggs, bacon, sausage and tom, beans but the evening meal I think was poor!!! Very repetitive and you had to guess what you were eating basically.
Never the less after all my comments I feel it was a clean, basic sound holiday for the price I paid, it could have been improved with a little more TLC from the staff and a few other English visitors as there were mainly Germans and Spanish. But I don’t feel money or time has been lost on my holiday, even though given the choice I would go to a different resort next time as there really was not much to do!!!
This resort and hotel is really for people who want a quite relaxing peaceful time.

This was the worse hotel I have ever been to, My sister & my two kids age 5 & 18 months decided to go here as a last minute deal on a half board basis.
The hotel rooms were clean enough. The poolside bar was terrible they made hot snacks etc for the whole week the chip machine was broken & they only get a delivery once a week for ice cubes & lollies which was a joke in the heat.
The staff were very unfriendly unless you were German or Spanish.
As for the dinner hall it was like something out of Prisoner Cell Block H, we had chicken & salad with veg stuff (I don't know what) every second night & the other nights it was pork chops, there was nothing for the kids to eat no chips no fruit.
They just put the meals out in big tins & it was a guess as to what you were eating, I thought I was eating onion rings until someone told me it was squid, it was that bad.
We didn't have the money to eat out every night but we did manage the last night, basically we bought crisps & fruit from the supermarket & fed on that along with toast for the week, not ideal especially when you have kids.
The resort is a lovely wee place but when I say wee I am not exaggerating there are about 4 restaurants & they all close at 8pm. The supermarkets and other shops are all the same & they don't open on a Sunday. Also you can't buy normal milk or diluting juice in any of the supermarkets you have to go to Magaluf, an hour’s drive away.
I would not wish this hotel on my worst enemy I don't know what the other places are like on this resort but the Hotel Monteverde is not somewhere you should visit.

The room was vile there was cockroaches which we took to the manager, who wasn’t interested.
The bathroom was really bad the bath was all flaking and really dirty, the toilet was all wobbly and the sewage smell was so bad. The plaster was falling off the walls and ceilings and the room was just really dirty and horrid.
The food was just as bad, it was very greasy and we didn’t know what we were eating as there was nothing stating what it was.
Around the pool area most of the furniture was broken and it was cleaned using the water from the pool.
The staff were very unhelpful all they said was don’t speak English.
The resort itself was very quiet with clean beaches, that was it.
I wouldn't let my dogs sleep in that hotel, it really was bad. The holiday was for our anniversary and it was ruined.
