Best Western Universal Inn Hotel

My Dad and I stayed here from January 17-20 after booking a $49 rate directly through the hotel website. The front desk was efficient if not enthusiastic. Our room was spotless! For those of you with a lot of health and beauty aids, you will be pleased by the generous amount of sink counter space. The shower head options were nice too. We stayed at the Best Western Universal for one night on November 18th. We paid $49 plus tax and were pleasantly surprised. It's a small hotel - about 50 rooms, but is in a great location. The room was clean and the hotel was quiet. On the morning we left I needed to get to a Wachovia Bank - I knew there were a few in Orlando from past visits but I wasn't exactly sure where the closest one was. We stayed for 4 nights starting Sunday, Dec. 5th, 2004. For $49 USD + 11.5% tax per night for a standard room on the 3rd floor, this price was surely unbeatable. The hotel is a three storey building with approximately 70 rooms and 1 outdoor pool.**The LOCATION is excellent because of the following reasons:** 1) The I-Ride trolley stops close to it (trolley stop #2) and runs at 8am to 10:30pm daily. This hotel is not rated 5 Star... but when you stay inside, expect an exceptional level of service. The front desk lady (Kristine?) is always there... (she seems to work a lot). She's always nice and sincere. Everyone in the hotel is very helpful. The breakfast is full with carbs (which is good for long days and the parks). We stayed at this hotel for 7 days starting June 25 2004. This hotel has 3 floors and about 50 rooms. You can choose either a standard room or a suite. Our family of four (2 adults and 2 kids aged 2 and 6) booked a suite. There are 8 suites, 4 on the 2nd floor and 4 on the 3rd. All suites are located right by the elevators and all suites overlook the front entrance and the parking lot. Our suite was on the second floor, right over the front entrance. My family stayed here for 7 nights at the end of June. We used airmiles for 6 nights and paid 59.00 for the remaining night. This hotel was very clean. The staff were extremely friendly. The breakfast was very good (bagels, bread, danish, donuts, yogourt, fruit, cereal and milk, juice and coffee) I took 15- 20 minutes to walk (with 2 children), only 5 minutes longer than if we drove. We booked a room here for 5 nights in June of 2004 after the Fairfield Hotel (next door) would not guarantee us a non-smoking room. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and spacious. Local phone calls were free. They try to tack on a $1.50 per day fee for use of the safe. When I objected they removed it from my bill. Breakfast was typical but the juice was always warm. My husband and I stayed here for only one night and it cost us £36 for the two of us, booked through Expedia. What a bargain! The room was spacious with a huge bed! The bathroom was large and well equipped! There was a free continental breakfast the next morning and overall, we were satisfied with our whole experience!

We recently stayed at the BW Universal INN. I think this is a great hotel for the budget minded. It was clean and the staff was friendly/helpful. Highpoints- It was located next to burger king (cheap food) and walgreens (anything you need 100 ft away). Close to I-Ride. After I finally learned the I ride route I really think it is the "hidden gem" of the area. We bought a 3 day pass for $3 each and used it to go everywhere (except universal-more on that later). Hotel is very close to Universal Studios. Rooms are nice. Don't bother getting the "garden view" room. There is no garden. Just cheap plastic plants inside room. Leslie (night auditor) was very helpful and knowledgeable. He has a good sense of humor as well.
