Hi just thought i would let you know about our stay in the don jaime, after reading other reviews about this hotel i really did not know what to expect, but the we had a great time because of the people we met there not because this was a great place, 1st you did get a hot choice of food for breakfast so they must have had lots of complaints about the breakfast,so yes you could muster up a reasonable breakfast.evening meal was another matter the choice was terriable, speggetti every night with some sort of watered down tomato sauce, not good no choice for children,it was hot food but not good, 2 the hotel is old and in desperate need of refurbishment.not very clean,my husband did some diy so we could have a shower as the shower head was clogged up with gunge he took it appart and cleaned it out. no food was labled so you didn't know what you were eating.and they have you sharing your table with strangers.3 of us and they but 2 others on our table not good. This is August 2007 would rate this hotel a 2 star no where near a three 3 the hotel is quiet entertainment every other night, not bothered about that as we get out and about, The jimmy appartment over the road does not belong to the don jaime but they can use all the facilitties of the hotel,so they get cheap clean spacious appartments with use of the hotel pool that we pay for when you book a hotel with pool.and two other appartment blocks can also use it. so when the big familys arrive you have no chance of getting a sun bed, because they are there with there towels, lots of dutch and german staying there no problem most were friendly. Cala Millor we were told was beautiful,it was nice but we found the streets around the hotel were dirty and dog muck every where you really need to watch your step.we have been to many places in majorca but we will not be going back to cala millor if you just like the pubs and eating you will be ok.but the beach near to don jaime was awful.not like the beautiful beaches in other parts of majorca.what a let down. people we spoke to who had been to this hotel 4 years ago could not bekieve how it had gone down, if you have booked to stay in the don jaime appartments just be warned the lift has not worked for over a year, and you have to carry your cases up all the stairs and there are a lot of stairs, with no help form the management, just a large gent on reception points you to them, and he would not make the first floor never mind the 5th floor, people arriving who bookes in jan only to be told they were booked up an they but them in the hotel half board not much compansation seeing the food was yuk. Had a good hoilday because its what you make it,people great. restful.no luggage on arrival at manchester but was delivered next day,not loaded on our flight.so if you want to book this dont.
Food a big let down

28th July 2007 - Returned from special holiday with grandchildren aged 9 & 10. No staff member with a badge nor did they ever introduce themselves,no management apparent. Reception AM helpful PM miserable and unhelpful. No help with luggage.Telephone call from reception to confirm pick up time of return tranfer transport charged for..a first for me never had to pay B4. Rooms basic, had to ask for a TV for kids, when received all German channels only sky news in english.Air con minimal and switched off during the day when u returned to room in the late afternoon very stuffy and hot.Bar overpriced..not allowed to even bring water into the pool area expected you to buy half ltr btls of water for 1.40 when 1 and half ltr btls can be baught down the road for as little as 55cts.When ice asked for room in the evening had to say children going to bed or they tried to sell drinks to me, they didn't approve. Pool okay but small..no rules to behaviour of guests.. towels left on beds.. blow up toys left in pool.No staff involvment with evening entertainment which was only on 3 days out of our stay, so intergration of guests, no atmosphere.Food very disappointing..1st time I have heard kids say 'Oh no chips again' Most food cold even when first down for evening meal at 7pm..all eggs over cooked..no lables on food..greasy bacon.Tinned fruit! When veg was on looked as if it had been cooked for hours..when fish on dry as old boots and over cooked. All in all I am pleased I baught a late deal for only one week and didnt pay what other people had paid. The sun was fantastic as was the hospitality in the Liverpool Bar/Cafe on the sea front.
Good value for money.

Stayed at the Don Jaime for 2 weeks, 4 adults self catering apartments. We had a fantastic time, apartment basic but clean and all you need in it. We were on the ground floor and had a massive sun terrace which got the sun all day. Staff were brill and the facilities and area couldn't be faulted. Overall - a lovely place at the right money, we would definatly go again.
Real nice stay

Me and My Boyfriend have just come back from our stay at the Hotel Don Jaime and thought that overall it was a good stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the pool area was very nice and always clean. The maids did a good job of cleaning our room everyday, we had clean towels everyday too. The Hotel food was varied, and was nice also. The location of this hotel was great, as you only have to walk a couple of hundred metres and your at the beach. We enjoyed our stay and we would go back there again. Cala Millor in general is a very nice place with a lot of friendly locals! ... Go to the 'la Marina Resturant' just round the corner from the Don Jaime, lovely food and greater staff.

My Husband and I stayed at the don jaime for 11 nights may /june 2007 on first impression the hotel seemed empty and the receptionist was unfriendly. The room was nice and clean with fresh towels daily and the maids were pleasant and friendly but the balcony overlooked waste ground ,There was entertainment on for only two nights a week instead of the advertised nightly entertainment. The pool area was pleasant and the pool very clean. The food was awful chips every night and they were barely warm nothing was labelled so we didn`t know what was on offer one night it was fish and it looked raw, we had to share a table with another couple and we were lucky to be seated with a very nice young couple from yorkshire but another couple we met whilst there had to share with a german couple who seemed very nice but they didn`t understand each other. Most nights we ate out at Yates which did very good food and the entertainment was great for all the family we recommend you try a night there and tell the compere that baz and the terrier sent you

a single 50 yr women going to watch england in the 2006 world cup. the pool was small but nice. the food always the same + served cold. except soup. the staff spoke went they wanted to. except the cleaners. who i must praise, clean towels every day. bed made for me dailly. well done to them. bar staff, ignorant and reception. i never had a tv when i arrived so i wanted to watch the footy, only the germans sat in front of the screen, so when the englands second game was to go on i went over to change the channel. they didnt like it ,but i watched it on my own, which was bliss. unfortunately it was the the only game i watched in the hotel other games i went to the rose +crown where every-one was welcome as long as they were english. i would go back again only if it was managed with english in mind. not just germans.

Hi there fellow travellers. If you are reading this review, I am guessing its because you want to know whether or not to book this hotel. In short, there's nothing majorly wrong with the resort or hotel, so don't panic and have a good holiday (we enjoyed our stay overall)! If your arrival is important, hire a car or pay the £40 taxi fare. We stayed half board. For those who want to read a little further, I'm going a little deeper so please take any criticisms I have in the spirit of knowing that we had a good stay and would consider staying there again! I'm rating each bit from 1 * to 5***** (***** being the highest) so you can determine whats important to you. Price ***** ------- Very cheap, about £250 each half board including flight, taxes etc., so good value for September. NB the September weather was excellent and I got sunburned!!! Flights *** ---------- No complaint about our Air Europa Flight from Cardiff but the in-flight meal was a huge joke - one miniscule brioche roll that would not feed a mouse and one cup of tea or coffee. Everyone was asking where the rest of the meal was, it comes in this huge container!!!! Eat at the airport, guys, because even by plane standards this was laughable! Resort Transfers below 1* ------------------------ I have to be completely honest and say that our arrival and transfers were the most shambolic we've ever encountered. Nobody was given any clear direction about where to stand and which coach to get on and several hundred of us were told to wait five minutes for our buses to arrive. (NB nowhere to sit by the coach departure area). Two hours later 3 or 4 coaches turned up, not enough spaces to house all the people waiting off several flights, they took at least another hour to depart after we were herded on because nobody knew which hotels they were supposed to be dropping off to. Even after departure, the driver genuinely did not have a clue as to where he was going, stopping the coach to ask passers by directions to hotels on his itinerary (hilarious) half of which as it turned out no-one on the coach was staying in! Great unplanned entertainment, we were sat behind him muttering 'pssshhhheeett' the whole journey, while I dont speak Spanish I don't think it needed too much translation! We chose to laugh rather than cry, but despite our arriving at 4.00am and expecting a 45 minute transfer we didnt arrive at our hotel until breakfast had finished at five past ten. While we were fortunate enough to have been ordered onto a coach (albeit with a driver who could have stood in for Basil Fawlty), among those less fortunate was a young Mum with two very young children who'd been standing around for nearly three hours before our coach actually left, herself and the two under fives in tears still waiting outside with no seats and her frustrated husband trying to make some complaint which was falling on deaf ears. From what my limited spanish could make out there was another coach on the way but I doubt they were laughing about the long delays like we were, frankly it wasnt good enough and our hearts went out to her. Our return transfer was equally fraught and the driver got lost three times just leaving the hotel, however after a week in the sun everyone was just laughing and it made the atmosphere on the coach quite fun! Reception ** -------------- Hmm. We arrived after all the nonsense and mix ups at five minutes past breakfast serving time. After the pathetic excuse for an in flight meal we were all starving, there was still plenty of food at the buffet but we were not allowed into the dining room 'cos we were five minutes late. Anyone who has ever watched the film 'Falling Down' will understand how all of us who arrived felt. Not a good start, the fact that the coach was late was not given any weighting and I have to say the attitude of the staff to this issue was not especally endearing and there were plenty of British swear words to be heard in the elevator, oddly enough sounding much like the drivers! Other than that awful introduction, reception were friendly and helpful for the rest of their stay hence I didnt rate them only 1*. Rooms *** ---------- To be honest, unless you have a pool view the views from the rooms are not that hot, and none of them have a sea view (not critical for us but important to some people). Some of the rooms overlook a derelict area, ours overlooked the residential street and I wouldn't have chosen to sit on the balcony which wasnt very private. Rooms are of average size and are best described as average really. Cleanliness was also average, the shower curtain was a little mouldy, however the floor was clean, bedding and towels were spotless and were changed daily. Service **** ---------- Despite a disappointing welcome we found the staff reasonably friendly and helpful throughout the rest of the stay, the barmaid was kind and helpful to everyone, most of the staff spoke english. Facilities, Entertainment & Pool Area **** -------------------------------------------------- The pool was great with a separate kids pool, not huge but plenty big enough, and its a natural suntrap served by a good bar. We were pleased with it and spent a fair bit of time relaxing there. Entertainment was on most nights of the week - we didnt bother as its not 'our thing' but to quote our fellow guests: "t'only decent entertainment all week were t'karaoke, t'elvis impersonator, 'e were crap!" Enough said, lol! Food *** ------- No major complaints here, everything was edible and UK style, with plenty to choose from. Nothing would win any gastro awards, but nothing was bad either. Service in the restaurant was reasonable, although prepare to 'share' tables, your table is allocated for the week and as we were a couple we were paired with an older Northern couple (quite a few guests complained about this arrangement). On a personal note, though, as we run a spanish restaurant in the UK, we were a little disappointed to find the food both in the hotel and in the resort to be entirely british, great if you like meat and two veg, burgers, chips and a wide variety of cakes and puddings but we'd have loved to be a little more adventurous! However, most of the British guests found this to be a main attraction (and many of them didnt venture out of the hotel all week), if you like the UK by the sea you won't be disappointed but if tapas and paella are more your thing then don't go to Cala Millor! Cala Millor Generally **** ------------------------------ There is something very comforting about being able to drink John Smiths in a foreign country, there are also plenty of German bars serving Warsteiner and even a few serving spanish San Miguel!!! You don't need to go in to separate the British Bars from the German ones, its pretty obvious, but either serve the same food selection and the beers are reasonably priced with english spoken in both. The cocktails are good, there are loads of bars and restaurants (though sadly few spanish) and the resort is very safe even at night. The beach is lovely and sandy, the loungers are reasonably priced and we were blessed with amazing weather. If you forget sun tan lotion, there are two Spar shops (one at either end of the long promenade) and they are by far the most reasonably priced, although the resort is cheap anyway. In fact, while we do love 'real' Spain, we also loved this 'home from home' and would recommend it. We took a few trips outside the resort by using the bus service, which we found was excellent and reliable (more so than the rural one here in the UK). The Caves of Drach are truly spectacular, we'd give Manacor a miss next time though. We didn't take any of the boat trips but there are plenty available and there is generally a lot to do in the area, we'd have done more but the weather was so nice we didnt feel like doing too much! Summary ------------- If you fancy coming to this resort and feel like going somewhere a little more luxurious, the Sunwings resort looked fantastic and the Thomson Gold resort looked nice too. However, if you fancy a cheaper no-frills holiday, the Don Jaime is a reasonable hotel at a reasonable price.
Complete waste of money! Stay away!

I booked a holiday to the don jaime hotel at the end of august 2006, and was hoping to get quite a good deal considering that i paid £700 for the accomodation and flight. Unfortunatly, the hotel itself was unrecognisable when we pulled up outside. It looked nothing like the photos on the internet, infact it was completely different. The pool was very small, but a good temp (not too cold.) The staff could not understand a word of english, apart from vodka and coke, and even the receptionist could not understand me. There was no rep available at the hotel, so excursions were unavailble, unless you could understand spainish. The lifts were also breaking, one in constant misuse and the food served throughout my stay was exactly the same every morning and evening. There was no entertainment, even though i was told that the hotel was good for families and children, apart from a spainish singer who sang from 10-12pm. Also, on my last day at the hotel, i had to phone the airport about my transfer, but the phones were not working, and even when i did get through no one answered. After this, i asked receptionist to give me a hand, but they were very uncooperative and extremely miserable. Apart from this, the beach near the hotel was o.k, and the bars close by were not too bad. When away from the hotel, the atmosphere was calm and lively, however, returning back after a nice day out was spoilt by the hotel. The view from my hotel room was a distruction site not a lovely scene. The maids did however clean the rooms daily, which is the only good point i can make about the don jaime hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone as i feel it was a waste of my money.
Great Value for Money

Having booked 3 weeks before on Travel Republic, my boyfriend and I found Hotel Don Jamie for a very reasonable price for 2 weeks holiday. We were aprehensive before travelling but thought that the holiday was fantastic for what we paid. Our room was kept very clean and towels were changed every day, we did have an air conditioned room but did not think that it worked as well as it could have because we found that our room could still be quite warm and stuff even with the air conditioning on 24 hours a day. The hotel staff were always friendly and willing to help. The location was excellent just a 5 minute walk to the beach and promenard with all the shops restaurants you could need for. The food served by the hotel was cooked to a good standard and you could always pick and choose from the variety although it was not huge was always edible, on booking my boyfriend and I decided that if it was not up to scratch we could eat out but in the end out of 14 nights we only ended up going out twice........ so was not that bad. Pool area was pleasant, on arrival we thought that the pool was a bit small but when we actually got into the water it was lovely (not freezing cold as some pool temperatures can be) and very refreshing and was plenty big enough. The hotel had a variety of entertainment on 4 out of 7 nights a week if you like that sort of thing but there is also plenty to do and see on the promenade which is were we spent all of our time in the eveings. All in all the Don Jamie is value for money if you are looking for a good relaxing break with out spending a fortune. Great holiday and thinking about going back next year.
Hi Everyone Hotel Close your eyes and remember being in the 80`s, well with this in mind that’s what your going to get "inc" the music. The hotel needs a little TLC in places and looks a little tired. I had no hot water for 6 days. Poor availability of sun beds around the... more
