we recently returned from this awful hotel,by far the worst we have ever stayed in. The resort is lovely. We had 2 rooms, they were poorly furnished and tired, the patio door lock was broken. We arrived at about 04.00 in the morning and were a bed short!!!We were one family split on different floors and were told the hotel was too full to move??? I did not see many people all week.. The food was disgusting we were A/I but had to to eat out every day. The person mascarading as a chef did not know how to fry eggs the white's were raw,the food that was edible was tastless. He did not know what a boiled, roast or baked potato was, we only saw potato once cut in the shape of chips added to some sort of stew.we also were served bones with little to no meat on them, and NO it had not fallen from the bones because it was tender, it simply was not there..the 4 children ate jelly and cake every meal time, the fresh fruit was well past its sell by date. the jelly changed colour about 4 times in the week but the choice of cake only twice. The A/I snacks were stale cheese or ham sandwiches and old fruit every day, morning, afternoon and night. The entertainment was poor to none existant. We had 2 days with no hot water. The lift 1 does not match level to the floors creating a trip hazard, which you do not need as eating the food in this hotel is hazardous enough. The poor food at this hotel is well known by restaurants along the sea front. We could not reconise the rooms or the pool area from the photgraphs on the internet. My top tip to anyone thinking of going here is DON'T.

My family and I returned from the Don Jaime (pronounced Don Hi -Me) this morning and I would like to inform you all that the hotel is nowhere near as bad as people make out!! The hotel, like ALL hotels, has its good and bad features which I will try to describe as best as I can.
On arrival, we were greeted outside the hotel by the man working on reception. He was very nice and welcomed us into the hotel. He checked us in quickly and gave us lots of information about the hotel and its surrounding area.
The rooms we were given were very clean although small. However, we only really needed the room to shower and sleep in and the showers always had hot water, were powerful and the bathroom was clean. The beds were also comfortable and clean. Beds are only singles and you can’t push them together but not the end of the world.
After reading several reviews about the Don Jaime we were a little worried about what we would find when we went down for breakfast but we were surprised at what was actually there. Typically, there was the usual assortment of cold meats and cheese and then fried eggs, scrambles eggs, boiled eggs, bacon, sausages, fruit and a variety of cereal, Tea, coffee and a variety of fruit juices were also on offer. There was only one toaster, and it was a bit on the slow side but it didn't take forever like some people have said, you just need to be patient! Two people can use the toaster at one time, toasting 6 slices of bread each.
Mid morning and late afternoon, you can expect to find cheese sandwiches, ham sandwiches and fruit or little cakes and pastries on the bar for all inclusive guests. There was always a good variety of food at lunch times and dinner times, although repetitive. There was always a chicken dish and pork dish, but always in different sauces. Sometimes they looked a little unappetising but more often than not, it was tasty and filling. Dessert was never really up to much, usually fruit or ice cream but still nice. Food is labelled, despite what some people have said. The labels weren't very descriptive but stated whether it was chicken, pork, fish, pasta etc.
The staff, bar, catering and reception, were very friendly and helpful. They worked hard and were always happy and seemed as though they enjoyed their work.
Evening entertainment was pretty much the same every night, Bingo, Quiz, Music etc. However, on one night we had a birds of prey show, which both children and adults enjoyed. We were allowed to touch the birds and the interaction with the hotel guests was great, they got the children involved and were very informative about each type of bird and they were more than happy to answer your questions. Another night, we had a 'Jungle Show' which included little pigs, snakes, parrots, racoons, it was fantastic.
Mike, the entertainer did get a bit annoying, but you’re on holiday and you just have to laugh at him and appreciate that he also works very hard to provide an enjoyable stay for all guests at the hotel. He was friendly and chatty and got along with guests of all ages.
The pool area is small and not adequate for the amount of guests that are staying at the hotel. There are only 40 sun beds (90+ rooms) and the rest of the pool area is taken up by tables and chairs. However, it isn't the be all and end all. We spent most of the day sitting at one of the tables and still managed to get a lovely even, golden tan! If you prefer to lie down in the sun then the beach is a 5 minute walk away. Some people even bought lylo's and used them as a sun bed around the pool area at the hotel. The pool bar is open from 10am - 11pm and the all inclusive drinks are basic and local. If you wish to drink beverages that you usually would at home, expect to pay a couple of Euros for it! You will probably find that there is no need to do this as the most popular shorts such as Vodka, Malibu, Peach Schnapps, Gin etc, are included in the all inclusive package (although as stated before, they are local brands) and are just as good as the real thing. Ice creams are not included in the all inclusive package but they are reasonably priced; they will set you back about 2euros at the most.
The Don Jaime is situated in an ideal location. Take a left out of the hotel gate and walk straight for about 5 minutes, you will find yourself on the sea front. When you get to the bottom of the road, take a left and within another 5 minutes you will be in Cala Bona. Take a right, and you will find lots of lovely little shops, bars, restaurants and supermarkets.
We would recommend Yates of Cala Bona for drinks and food if you fancy a change from the hotel one night.
The Don Jaime is dated and needs a little bit of TLC; however, it was clean, comfortable and friendly. We stayed for a week and could have easily and comfortably stayed longer.
If you want fantastic food, huge rooms and king sized beds then like everything, you have to pay for it. You get what you pay for at the Don Jaime but please be reassured that it isn't that bad! We were worried about what we were going to find on our arrival but we have all said that it was much better than expected and we would return to the hotel in the future if we were looking for a cheap get away.

this hotel should be a 2* hotel, the hotel is very dated, pool tiles are all broken, the food if you can call it food is extremly inedible. no kids entertainment what so ever!! i personally had to live on cheese and pickle sandwiches for 2 weeks the food was that bad! the area is absolutley gorgeous, the hotel is no typical spanish hotel it should be demolished! we went with 2 kids age 9 and 4 they had nothing to do due to not having any kind of kids club or any kids entertainment. if you are blind, deaf and dont mind eating slop with no children then please book and enjoy this hotel, otherwise run the opposite way and book a true 3* hotel that caters for decent hard working people who deserve a decent holiday. the only good thing about this hotel were the bar staff, they were all fab, receptionists were brain-dead and ill mannered!!!

Just got back from a week at the don jaime, this has to be the worst hotel ever. Rooms had wholes in ceilings, balcony doors were broke, fridge was leaking was just disgusting in general. We stayed all inclusive and lived on chips for a week!! Had no choice at all and what you could choose from was absolutely vile so ended up eating out most days. Swimming pools and surrounding area was dirty chairs and sunloungers had wholes in so you were practically sitting on the ground anyway! I took my 4 year daughter and there was nothing for her to do at all and she barely ate a thing for the whole week. Would not recommend hotel to anyone it should be closed down..wouldnt even give it 1 star let alone 3.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Tables are not set, no knives and forks, napkins or salt and pepper on table and paper tablecloths food was of very poor standard.Only three people can get served from the buffet at once due to the layout of the diningroom, therefore always a queue. One toaster can wait up to 20 minutes. The pool area was disgusting, hard latted plastic beds no mattress, the chairs were wicker half of the them with broken seats. There is no maid service on Tuesdays. therefore no clean towels. This is not a 3 star I would not give it one. There is no entertainment whatsoever for anyone who wished to stay in.

omg we arrived for a weeks self-catering at Don Jaime only to be told that we was in apartments across the road, once inside the apartments the smell of mould was overwhelming, the picture on the wall was mouldy,we had broken dining chairs, the locks on the patio doors did not work, our sheets were not changed all week,we had to ask for towels on several occasions, never had hot water, there is no snack bar for you to purchase food from,we had to ask for the remote control for the tv and on about the fifth attempt they finally gave us the right remote, there were two metal pipes with sharp edges sticking out of the bath, broken headboards, broken chipped floor tiles, you get the picture,it was shocking

I visted the Don Jamie in Cala Millnor at the end of June 2010, along with my aunt.
We was so suprised at how close to the main towns of Cala Millnor and Cala Bona, we actually was.
The hotel was clean, and staff was friendly. Excpet for the chefs, who literally bite your head off if you leave the serving spoon in the food, haha! The food was basic but tasty and you could always find somehting to eat. For the price you pay what do you expect really?
Normally all incs that i have visited have an all day snacks, however they didn't here. All they provided was some sandwhichs.
The pool area wasn't huge but always clean and you could find a sunbed.
Overall for the price i would recommend this hotel. There are also self catering apartments on site. We did eat out two nights and it was very cheap so that is also an option i would consider.
there is not much entertainment going on in the hotel at night, the occasional karaoke, and bingo! But the towns are very lively, so we went out.
Cala Millnor is more built up with more nightlife than Cala Bona, which is more old town/harbor, but both were lovely!
What are these people moaning about, look how much you paid!!!

Hi Everyone
Hotel
Close your eyes and remember being in the 80`s, well with this in mind that’s what your going to get "inc" the music.
The hotel needs a little TLC in places and looks a little tired. I had no hot water for 6 days. Poor availability of sun beds around the pool and only managed to get 1 sunbed twice within the 11days.
Staff
The waiters and reception staff are very friendly and helpful and where a pleasure to be around.
The rooms where always cleaned very well and the cleaners where very friendly and helpful.
Food
If you’re expecting Danepak bacon, walls sausage and free range eggs this is not the place for you. The food was ok and can easy get you through a week but any longer and you’ll start to struggle.
Resort
The hotel is very close to the beach and shops. The beach was really nice and clean.
After midnight the resort starts to quieten down but please keep in mind it was towards the end of season.
They do say you get what you pay for and its true, if you are looking for a cheap get-a-way this will be for with not much expectations.
