Residence Riva Azzurra Hotel Reviews
" We stayed at the Riva Azzura... "
Submitted By: Miss L Manders
We stayed at the Riva Azzura apartments in 2005.
It is a lovely sea side town, the beach is nice enough but quite small but then it never got crowded when we were there in July so it’s not a problem.
It has a handful of good restaurants the Riva Azzurra restaurant is nice, good pizzas etc but very soon we realised to go where the locals eat which was a great (very cheap) restaurant by the town square.
Great with a three year old who just wants to eat quickly and go back to play ball with the locals in the square.
As far as the apartments go, they are very clean, spacious and modern. Kitchen could have been a little better equipped but that’s Italy for you.
The patio area is clean and spacious with lovely sea views but the big letdown was the tiny swimming pool, if you could call it that!
Sardinia is a lovely destination; Isla Maddelana is well worth a visit for the day, with fantastic harbour and the most beautiful bays and beaches.
Sardinia may be over priced for the hotel facilities provided but the location makes up for it.
It is not at all touristy and so relaxing. Hire some bikes and explore the beaches just out of cannigione, they are gorgeous.
All in all a peaceful location, suitable for couples and families but not if you want a action packed time as there is not lots to do for kids at the Riva Azzura.

The resort itself was quiet but has plenty of restaurants to choose from. Depending on what you enjoy and your price bracket, there is something for everyone. The food tends to be all fish, pasta and pizza. I was disappointed with the lack of salads but this was comparing it to Greece. There is a beautiful restaurant opposite the port which the food was sensational and very romantic setting also. The pizza's are great in the restaurant underneath the hotel. The pasta was good in the restaurant next to the supermarket.
We visited the famous Costa Smeradela area, Bia Sardinia, Porto Cervo. Well worth a visit. Certainly an area for the rich and famous but it was enjoyable to look at all the super yachts that come into Porto Cervo. If you like looking in designer boutiques (looking being the operative word), it is lovely to look round. We also visited Costa Testa on the North coast, fantastic beach!! I imagine it would be packed in the summer but in May, it was just right. You can see Corsica from the beach.
The accommodation was good. We had room 204 which I recommend you requesting as it is the top floor apartment and the views are splendid. The apartment is only one bedroom but there is a sofa bed so it could accommodate up to 4 people and is very spacious so you certainly wouldn't be living on top of one another. The pools are small but the pool area is very spacious, enough room to accommodate lots of people without it feeling over crowded. My only complaint would be (if you could call it that) is that they didn't change the towels in the week we were there but other than that, it was perfect.
Location fantastic! Beach 100 metres away, resort centre 150 metres away - all in all very good!
Great for families and couples looking for a quiet holiday.
