Villa Belvedere Hotel

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights this month and absolutely loved it. It's a 3* hotel and the rooms are basic but the views more than make up for it. We had a room with a seaview on the second floor. There was nothing at all fancy in the room but it was spotlessly clean so we weren't too bothered about having extra comforts (although I would have preferred a firmer mattress - the one that I had was a bit too soft.) Not much to say besides excellent service, clean rooms and great views if your on the top floor! We had room 59 and it was great! Best scenery i've ever seen. Staff was friendly and the location is just a short walk to town. Right next to the public gardens which is quite nice. Taormina itself is great. What a charming town. So romantic. All of the restaurants were excellent. I love eating outside all the time. Dinners were always great with excellent service no matter where we went. Its great to get back to the old country... more

We have just returned after a great week at the Villa Belvedere. The staff is excellent!!! The breakfast could be better, but the pool lunch is really good. We will be back!

My husband and I have stayed here three times and it's one of my favourite hotels. Definitely worth paying the extra for a room with a sea view and balcony - the views really are stunning, and the room at the front are significantly better than the ones at the back - and don't miss the fantastic lunchtime food. The mixed antipasti is the best food I've had in a total of six weeks in Sicily. Very nice staff, a lovely pool, great sunbathing, and perfect location in gorgeous Taormina.

Beautiful hotel, great location, but we had reserved a sea view room, and were told upon arrival that, due to an error, no sea room was available. We were put into a room that was spacious and clean, on the noisy street, without the glorious view we had expected. Later that day, I overheard the same story being given to another couple checking in. I requested a change the next morning, to be told that it was not possible, although new folks checking in were given sea view rooms. Having just returned from a second visit to the Villa Belvedere I can now confirm this is a very special place. All of the staff are so friendly and helpful; it was like returning to visit old friends. We had a lovely spacious room with sea view on the second floor. The beautiful terraced gardens and pool area are one of the highlights of the hotel. The gardener appears to tend the gardens daily and they certainly reflect this. Overall a very positive experience in both Taormina and this hotel. The Villa Belvedere has 3 star rooms in a 5 star location for which you will pay 4 star prices. Cost of rooms in Taormina is high but if you want to stay close to town (and you do) the Villa Belvedere offers a very competitive package. We can confirm most of the other positive comments from previous TripAdvisors and underline the helpful and efficient staff. A beautiful, classic turn of the century villa hotel. We stayed for two nights, but wish we had more time. The hotel is ideally located, walking distance to town but in a quiet location. Set in lovely terraced gardens with pool, stunning views of the sea and coast line with Etna in the distance. Discreet, efficient,professional service. I stayed here with my boyfriend and another couple for the first week of July, and we absolutely loved it. The rooms aren't that luxurious, but they're clean and a good size (at least ours was), and both the rooms had great balconies with amazing views of the bay & Mount Etna. The food you can have over lunch by the pool is excellent, really fresh and probably the best food we had in Taormina! I highly recommend their buffet, but their pasta is also gorgeous. This hotel is really special. Not perfect, but special, and this has to do with the very friendly but highly professional staff, the age of the building (1902) and layout of the space, the immaculate cleanliness and the well chosen artefacts and most of the all, the position, high up on the cliff with the most stunning views across the bay to Mount Etna. The rooms are not large but entirely adequate with large, comfortable bed and sufficient clothes storeage. AC works well and was needed in June. My only gripe was with the bathroom... more
