This is our second visit to the Avenida Hotel. It is ideally located within the charming old town. The hotel boasts amenities of jacuzzi, sauna, gym etc. There are day time functions like a tour of the kitchen, line dancing and Spanish lessons. Evening entertainment is provided in the bar/lounge where you may smoke because the lounge is on a seperate level than the restaurant.

Rooms are spacious and spotless, they are cleaned daily. The bathroom is equipped with a hairdryer, soap and shampoo for your use.

There is a rooftop pool with free sunbeds, the view out to the sea is stunning.

Breakfast is buffet with everything you would expect in a 4* hotel. Evening meal is superb too with a selection of meats and fish as well as a vegetarian option. The only downside being that when the hotel is full the restaurant is too small to cope. We had to queue at the door, then queued again to get our food. On our previoyus occasion the hotel was quieter and we had far less hassle.

The staff ar friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Though our room overlooked bars and shops we were not perturbed by street noise at all.

In all this is a very good 4* hotel and w would recommend it, though in future maybe at a quieter time when it is less busy.

The holiday was very good. Rooms were cleaned on a daily basis. I will definitely go again.

The staff were very friendly and helped us carry bags to our rooms. The ensuite included was very big with a inside Jacuzzi.

Avenida Hotel is in an ideal spot for both old town and Levante area.

The hotel is superb and staff etc are great (apart from crabbit chef). The room we had did not have a balcony and did not have a view but it was still a good room. The rooms are so quiet you cannot help relaxing.

The food was brilliant at all meals and the drink was reasonably priced, 5 euro's for a nice bottle of rose.

The night life was good, can be quiet at old town or busy and lively at Levante we enjoyed both.

This is my 2nd time at this hotel and will go back.

This is a lovely hotel; the outside is much understated, but inside upstairs in the main foyer is beautiful. Very clean and classy looking. The restaurant is very well set out and immaculate with clean linen freshly starched.

The staff are excellent and friendly. In Dec 2006 we decided to have a change and booked the Don Pancho, food okay, a bit repetitive, the staff were unapproachable and very abrupt.

We went along for a coffee in the Avenida and realised how much we missed it. The standards have not changed nor had the attitude of the staff, booking again this year.

Excellent location for a wander in the evenings and near enough the hub if that’s what you want. Highly recommended.

This was the third time my wife and I have stayed at the Hotel Avenida, Benidorm in the last two years.

On this occasion we went half board for one week in late January. Obviously, we must like the place because we keep going back.

By Benidorm standards it is a small hotel, only six storeys high. You could be forgiven for missing the hotel if you walked passed it, because the glass front doors are the only things you can see (if you are looking carefully) as you walk up the shopping street.

However, on entering the small reception area there is a lift and a spiral staircase which takes you to the lounge/bar area on the next floor.

The Avenida is a four star hotel and is part of the Ona Sol, Spanish owned, hotel chain.

The staff are extremely smart and courteous, all speak very good English. The decor is subdued but is also comfortable and relaxing.

Several nights we utilised the bar area and watched the local entertainment. One night they had a magician and on another night they had two professional ballroom dancers. There is also the opportunity to dance yourself, particularly if you like old-time dancing, accompanied by the resident keyboard player/vocalist.

Top tip for a piece of elegance. Buy a bottle of Cava (Spanish champagne) from the waiter or order it at the bar and it will be brought to you in a stand-up ice bucket draped in a pristine white towel.

The waiter will slowly uncork it for you and allow you a taste before pouring. The waiters are immaculate in appearance and the whole experience will only cost you about 10 Euro. That's about £6 for 6 glasses of Cava.

The hotel rooms are fine and the cleaners keep the accommodation spotless changing the linen and towels more often than necessary.

The food is also very good. It is self-service buffet style and a health conscious fanatic like me has no problem getting my five fruit and veg in per day. In fact, it's possible to get that amount each meal.

The shops at the rear of the hotel are a little bit tacky but the other shops at the front are more up-market. My wife bought two pairs of nice shoes from a shop just a couple of doors away. There is surprisingly very little noise from the shopping area to disturb you.

OK so most of the clientele are over 50, but so are most of the people on holiday at this time of year, especially in Benidorm. For a nice quiet, relaxing break, I would certainly recommend the Hotel Avenida.

By the way, Benidorm is nothing like Blackpool. The beach must be the cleanest beach in the whole of Europe, and the promenade is a delight to stroll down.

The hotel is central to all amenities. close to the beach, bars and restaurants. I stayed there because I was told the old town is not as brash as Benidorm new town. Unfortunately I found that it was full of cheap souvenir shops and like being in Blackpool which I wanted to avoid. Apart from that there is plenty of entertainment and restaurants so you will never go hungry or thirsty.

The restaurants will suit all tastes ranging from English fish and chips to Traditional Spanish. The actual hotel was clean though the room we had was dark and extremely hot. It was air conditioned but this didn’t seem to make much difference to the room temperature. The bathroom was fantastic with a large circular bath ideal for sharing! The food was edible though left a lot to be desired with queues for dinner taking half an hour.

Not good when you're hungry. A word of warning though October is full of pensioners obviously making the most of the winter sun. Which is fine if you fall into that age range or you could be like me and the only holiday romance on offer is with gentlemen at least 20 years over.
