Stayed at the Daniel in 2005 was one of the worst places we have ever stayed!
Room allocated to us was dirty, and urgently needed updating. No children’s pool.
Everything you expect as basic cost's extra such as:
Kettle
Fridge (we were told that they don’t put them in rooms as it encourages you to buy cold drinks from the bar)
Safety Deposit Box
Cooked breakfast (The fact that any Hotel can get away with charging 1e -approx 70p for a boiled egg is appalling).
Air Conditioning is expensive and the key to operate it is welded to the room key so you can’t leave it on when you go out, even though it's quite expensive to hire for 2 weeks
Things got so bad here 10 days into our 2 week holiday we paid to stay in another Hotel, and on booking out they didn’t even ask why we were leaving!
We never booked a theme night as we had been forewarned they weren’t up to much, however on leaving the Hotel one "Greek Themed Night" guests were sitting around the bar watching Westlife videos!
Overall impression was that the hotel tried everyway possible to get as much money out of your pocket no matter what.
This hotel boasts 3* with 5* star service, if this is 5* service then I would hate to see what their 3* star service is.
Much better hotels in the vicinity!

Hotel was basic but value for money. Friendly staff at bar and breakfast and some reception staff. Nice view from balcony.
Quiet location, petrol station shop next door for odd bits and pieces, nice restaurant 2 min walk away. Very friendly people in village and surrounding areas - always helpful and want you to be satisfied.
Car hire few mins away. Basic pool. Went 3rd week in Oct so no kids. Overall good.

" This was my third visit to Rhodes,... "
Submitted By: Mrs N J Brooks
This was my third visit to Rhodes, first to this resort.
Hotel Daniel is 5 k from Lindos and 50K from Rhodes Town. Just over 3/4 hour from airport. The Daniel is situated on the main road.
Our room was at the side - with road, mountain and sea views. The road was busy but not unduly noisy. The sea was a flat 20 minute walk away.
The beach has sunbeds but is very pebbly so not good for swimming although there is sand at the beach entrance. There was a 'cafe' of sorts on the beach but this was closed on the day we visited. There were three cafes/restaurants within spitting distance of the beach. There is a hotel very near the beach - that is all. It’s quite bleak.
The hotel is clean but very basic. Staff were friendly. Breakfast consists of bread (or toast) with jam and honey and cornflakes with tea, coffee and watery orange juice. Fried breakfast was available for 4e, boiled egg 1e or omelette 2e.
Snacks were available from pool bar throughout day until 6.00pm. There was food available on two evenings of the week which consisted of a barbecue and a Greek night. Food was not available on other evenings at the hotel.
There are only about 5 places to eat in this resort. We did have excellent food in these and were the most reasonable. Food in Lindos was not as good as here.
Most people in hotel seemed to go out to eat in evening then come back to hotel and sit round bar until late. (TV and screen showing DVDs of Robbie, Shania, Simply Red etc).
We had taken a kettle with us but these were available to hire for 1e a day. A hairdryer was available to borrow from reception.
Hotel offered money changing facilities, nearest ATM was at the beach hotel (20 min walk away). There were 2 ATMs in Lindos.
90% English staying in hotel. Whoever says the Germans are dreadful for early rising to put their towels out have obviously never stayed in a hotel with other Brits. There were no Germans in this hotel but plenty of towels on empty beds. SHAME.
Taxis are available to call from reception - we hired one to Lindos. We were charged 10e to get to Lindos (the hotel calling for the taxi) and paid 7e to come back (getting our own).
I slipped down in Lindos; the pavements were very, very slippery. Wear non-slip shoes if you visit this beautiful town.
The hotel is on a bus route so all main resorts easily available - Lindos, Faliraki, Afandou, and Rhodes Town etc. Bus travel is cheap and the driver tells you where you are. Pay on the bus at resorts but in Rhodes Town get your tickets at small wooden kiosk. They will give you a printed bus ticket with bus number printed on it - very simple.
Rhodes town full of English 'holiday time-share touts' which get on your nerves. What they are selling is a load of rubbish - we went to listen to their 'presentation'. They are basically selling 5 weeks holiday for £3,500. This did not include flight, transport to resort or food. This had to be arranged by you separately. One week had to be taken in Rhodes (self catering). Stick with booking on-line - it’s cheaper!!
Weather was glorious, although we did have one day when it rained in the afternoon/evening. Not bad for Whitsun. We didn't even need cardi for evenings.
There was little to do locally and only a couple of shops. I would recommend this for resort for older people/couples who are capable of 'getting out and about' on their own.
My husband was bit to death my mozzies which made him miserable all week. We have never been bitten so much. There was no kid’s pool for young children and the beach for not suitable to play on. It seemed many of the guests had been many times before so obviously there love it here.
Although the holiday was OK, I have had better. I firmly believe you get what you pay for and this was cheap and cheerful.

" Very friendly hotel, always clean and... "

Very friendly hotel, always clean and nice and quiet. Some kids around but not many and everyone staying there was friendly.
Night's arranged that were a good laugh and various activities kept us busy if we wanted to be. Beach was a short walk away if the pool got too much.
Air conditioning at a price, as well as safe deposit.
Not really anywhere to go for food or drink, the local village was sparse, however Lindos was a short taxi ride away and well worth it.
All in all, basic but clean. Friendly staff and guests and an enjoyable trip.
