Me and my partner just got back from...
2 / 10
Aug 2007, Miss Jarrett

Me and my partner just got back from this place and all I can say is never again ... food was disgusting. Our room was horrible and we kept getting ants in it, which I kept complaining about. Later found the floor we was on must be the worst floor to be on its just terrible mould stains on the ceiling and it just stank made me and my partner ill.
The waiters we so grumpy all the time the only time we saw them smile was when serving the German guests. The only good thing I can say about this hotel is its location that's the best thing it has going for it.
One word of advice, if they tell your on the first floor refuse to stay there and demand another room on a different floor!

We went on honeymoon there in July...
7 / 10
Feb 2007, Mrs L.E. Winnicott

We went on honeymoon there in July 1969 - not changed much since then apart from improved by slightly larger ground/first floor improving the bar, dining and reception areas and refurbishments.
Fantastic location on a rocky promontory overlooking the entrance to Porto Colom harbour on one side and the entrance to Cala Marsal sandy cove on the other.
Rooms clean, adequate size and adequately furnished with good balconies - front onto sea and Cala Marsal side have the best views.
Very friendly and helpful staff - once you're there (no reply to faxes to hotel and group!). Virtually all German guests.
Food variable - some good, some inedible in our opinion (nothing changed there then since 1969!) but really good value with an all-inclusive price as the lager, local liqueur and sangria are excellent!!
Nice gardens, sunbathing, sitting-out areas on the rocks with lovely views. Two good outdoor swimming pools.
Entertainment 'amusingly' odd ... but we avoid that kind of thing so unable to make comparisons.
Plenty of good restaurants nearby including Italian, Spanish, Indian and two English bars (with English TV programmes if you need to watch the soaps, football and rugby!) + A few small supermarkets and souvenir-type shops.
Porto Colom harbour and old town very picturesque with 'posher' eating places if required. All this and the attractive, clean sandy cove all within walking distance.
A great place to use as a base for touring the rest of Majorca - need to hire a car to explore the island (roads variable).
We were in Porto Colom during the last week of September - the weather was warm and sunny and the 'resort' was quiet, which suited us but definitely not those seeking a hectic nightlife and those with loads of noisy children ... please keep away from the Cape Colom!
