Le Renaie Villa

We stayed at Le Renaie for two nights (after a more luxurious place in southern Tuscany, so that maybe biases me a bit). The room was small, but well decorated; I remember thinking to myself that "they have done as best as they can with the rooms". Air conditioning was fair, but at nights with the windows/shutters open, the mosquitoes attacked; be sure to bring repellent with you! We have just come back for a 3 night stay at Hotel Le Renaie and must say that it is a really beautiful place. We were atending a family wedding and all the other guests were staying at the sister hotel Villa San Paolo - Which was a magnificent place but I have to say I much preffered the more traditional Hotel Le Renaie. We had a triple room and the double bed was pretty huge ! Vey clean room with Air con, shower in ensuite, mini bar and view over the pool - Only minor niggle was no means of boiling water to warm up our little boys milk...... more

Hotel Le Renaie/ Ristorante Leonetto links deleted per posting rules. I fully recommend this hotel. I don’t know how hotels are rated in Italy, but French hotels with four stars are often inferior to this hotel. It was a large room with room for fat Americans to sleep without crowding. Bed is ‘European’ firm with flat pillows. We asked for more pillows and it was fine. Air conditioning works, and will easily muffle sounds of the Bocce ball court outside the hotel grounds. We enjoyed a comfortable, quiet, 2-night stay on a last minute booking at this very nice, family run hotel. The pleasant and helpful staff also run a wonderful restaurant with delicious meals and extensive wine list. The large and varied breakfast buffet offers something for everyone. We enjoyed a very comfortable five nights here. Location superb as quiet and in the country but near enough to San Gimignano for shopping and restaurants. Rooms very nicely decorated, modern bathroom, flat screen TV and balcony. Staff were all very pleasant and you could tell it was family run as they made more of an effort. The evening meals in Restaurant Leonetto were of excellent quality and very flavoursome (need to book in the morning for that evening and specify an outside table if you want it). We stayed in this hotel for 6 nights in early Sept 2006. It is a very quiet peaceful hotel Don't go there for the social life in the bar at night. The staff are very nice and helpful, the location is great for getting into San Gimignano. We also travelled to Volterra and Sienna on days trips from here as well. You obviously need a car as you would anywhere you stayed in Tuscany I think. The food in the restaurant is very good and the waiting staff for pleasant. The pool is small but nice. We stayed the best part of 1 1/2 weeks in this charming family run hotel. My wife had picked it because she liked the look of the photograph in the Citalia brochure. It is well worth the extra to obtain a room with a balcony and the 1/2 board is also very worthwhile. We ate in the surrounding countryside and main towns at lunchtime but always made it back to the hotel for our evening meal. Beautiful, family-owned and run hotel. The rooms were very spacious with flat screen TVs and great bathrooms! Food and wine were delicious: we loved the wild boar dish. Staff very helpful and friendly: the woman at the front desk called us a taxi to the train station (she also has the train schedule which was very helpful for us). Our only qualm was that the hotel is 6 kilometers from San Gimignano and the taxi drivers have a fixed rate of 20 euros, which is extremely overpriced. We spent 4 nights here as part of a trip around Italy. We were extremely impressed with this very friendly family run hotel. It was relaxed and welcoming, and the half board option was fantastic value. Food was excellent, home cooked and regional, and there was loads of choice from the a la carte menu.
