Stayed at the Kosta's from 2nd to 16th june 2008 and i would highly recommend it to anyone.Kosta is a lovely man who loved to see people enjoying thereselves,we were 2 families who had 6 kids between us and they really enjoyed there stay. Everyone was lovely and chatty with us and love to see the kids play, unfortunatley there were a few couples who didnt like children playing, well to those people we was on holiday and Kosta accomadated for our children. Our holiday was ruined by people who didnt like to see other people enjoying theirselves.
Lovely place to relax, when the school kids aren't there.

Stayed there from 2nd to 16th June 2008 and had a hire car throughout. Kostas the owner isn't exactly dynamic but is there all day every day and nothing is too much trouble. Alex the barman is also very helpful and friendly, but not pushy or annoying like some can be. The appartments are immaculately clean, but simply furnished, There are plenty of sunbeds for out of season, but unfortunately the "German Disease" was evident and a selfish few insisted on reserving the best beds by 9 oclock and often disn't use them until the afternoon. The setting is very quiet and the bar shuts promptly at midnight. Our stay was spoilt by two families who took their kids out of School for the fortnight with no concern for their education or any one at the appartments, they commandeered the pool and having a siesta in the afternoon , or sunbathing by the pool without getting splashed was impossible. Kostas did tell them to stop once, which didn't go down well and they were back to normal the next day. The resort of Polichrono is again very quiet with no nightclubs but plenty of bars/cafes and everything to eat from self service 4 euro meals to really top quality 25 euro ones. We never had a poor or bad meal in 2 weeks. The Cockney Cafe, Bar,Restaurant and cuddly toy shop is a must. The small fried breakfast for 5 euros is great and the Belly Buster served on a huge platter for 7 euros is outstanding. The evening meals are top quality well priced and will satisfy any appetite. Jon, Marylin, Tico and the rest of the Staff are so welcoming and friendly it really made the holiday, just like a second family. Many thanks to all, Martin and Kathy
perfect stay

What a surprise, a lovely apartment, tea coffee, etc, all available, just what you need after a long flight, and a complimentary large bottle of water in the fridge, that was a first for me, usually its just tap water. Apart from the town being closed, due to last week of season and having to get a taxi every day to the next town so we could eat, it wasnt a bad stay, would stay at the apartment again and recommend it to all.
disappointed with accommodation

We always visit somewhere in Greece the first or last 2 weeks of the season for the peace and quiet and having previously been to this area before( Kriopigi) knew what to expect. A lot of people were complaining about the quietness of the resort and lack of places to go but this was not a problem for us .If you want night life don't book here, go to Hanioti off season. Please be aware that this complex is made up of the Royal hotel and Kostas apartments. The Royal hotel is an older block that has had some renovation work, new entrance doors, bathrooms . We were lucky enough to get a room that got the sun all day but the ground floor rooms are basement type i.e your terrace is below garden level and the view was of the rear of a residential block! That side of the hotel did not get the sun after 1pm so was dark and dismal. There must have been complaints as I overheard a conversation between the rep and the owners about the misrepresentaion of the brochure pictures. The only cooking facility in the apartment was ONE electric ring though it clearly states in the brochure 2. though there was an electric kettle. The fridge was a good size . Cleaning was done 6 days and towels and linen changed twice in the week. The cleaner we had just walked in and didn't wait for any response to her knock which could have been embarrassing! The swimming pool floor is made with pebbles .. take care when judging depth of the water not to scrape your shins on them. this can easily be done when swimming from deep end to shallow end. Polichrono beach, as previously stated, is like a big ashtray, cigarette ends everywhere. This is a shame as the sea is lovely and clear and very inviting. The sea gets very deep quickly so is not suitable for toddlers. We ate at most of the restaurants that were open in the resort. Fllegra - had a lovely Lamb kleftiko there and you got a chocolate crepe after your meal for free! We also ate at Tulip , the pizza place down from Cockney cafe ( Cockney cafe shut first week before we had chance to try it) A taxi to Hanioti is 6 Euros and we had a meal at La Romantica ( Next to Police station on back street ) It was really good, best Greek salad and lovely pizza. All in all we had a relaxing holiday , just disappointed with the accommodation after seeing the photos on line.
The Best Place to go!!
from Pollyanna1_7
We have just one of the most relaxing holidays of our lives!!. We had taken all the family's in July and wanted a little us time. The area itself is quite but you can find the night life if you want it. It's also a little hilly in places. The apartments we very very clean the maids came in every day always with a smile and hello and even cleaned your cups, we never cooked in the room as it was a complete chill out holiday, just made a cup of tea or coffee in the morning so if you did happen to leave your cup it was washed up for you. The best place to go for your breakfast or if you don't want to eat Greek is the Cockney Cafe, the meals are not for the faint hearted as they are massive!!!!. The normal full English is 4 euros and the belly buster was 6 euros. The other meals were really nice and massive We tried a new place to eat each evening but if you like your steak then the Viva Steak house is the best you will find,(thats at the bottom of the road the Cafe is on and to the right). The Steak just melted the best thing to ask for is the sauce's on the side as they can be very strong. The staff a very good and you will have a good time. The beach is not 100% as people do not put their cigarette ends in the bins, but the water is crystal clear and you only have to go in a few feet and there are little fish around you. You will need some kind of foot wear as the pebbles and stones on the beach leading to the sea are painful to walk on. All in all we can't wait until next year. Really Good Holiday.

The Hotel itself is really nice, rooms are basic. It is about an hour and a half from the airport to the Royal Kostas Apartments. When we arrived we were shown straight to our rooms,Kosta then explained a little bit about the room and how to work things. The owner of the Apartments, Kosta speaks little English but will help you if he can, Another man who works there is named Alex, and he speaks very good English and is very polite. The beach is about 5 mins away, and both pebbly and sandy bepending on what side of the beach you are on. Resturants in the area are really nice, brilliant food and in some live Greek traditional music, all the resturants we went in had amazing food and the atmosphere was brilliant. On the way down to the beach on the right hand corner of the road after you have crossed the main very busy road, there is a really nice bakery which has great bread and cakes that you cant miss out on trying - I recommend the chocolate filled doughnuts to all who have a sweet tooth - they also sell filled coissants. I had a lovely stay during our time there and strongly recommed it.
great place to stay

we booked a late deal to the royal kostas didn't know what to expect.we booked a studio thinking the place would be small but it was asurprise when we arrived the rooms were quite big glad we didn't pay the difference for a one bedroomed the balcony was really spacious and the whole complex very clean.the maid came in every day and was always polite. the only draw back that we had was the pool about 8.30am all the sun beds had been covered with towels but not used til about 11.am which was very unfair as we would have liked to have a day round the pool but instead we went down to the beach every day which wasn't a bad thing as the sea was absolutely gorgeous overall it was a lovely relaxing holiday oh and just another thing a good place to go for breakfast is the cockney cafe you won't believe the size of their small breakfasts and only 4 eauro's sets you up for the day. we will go again,
Loved our relaxing holiday here

We have just returned from our holiday in Greece. We had gorgeous weather with one amazing storm on the Wednesday night. We stayed at the Royal Kostas which is also known as Kostas Apartments where we have had a great time. We booked with Thomsons and all in all they were pretty organised and we didn’t have much trouble. The transfer from the airport took just over an hour which is less than they stated (1.5hours). Our only complaint of the transfer was that the coach driver obviously didn’t want to be working that day. We were dumped by the side of the road with no direction of where to go. Luckily we were with another couple and we stumbled on the sign Villa Kostas. After following that we found our apartments. Kostas himself helped us to our rooms, explained how everything worked in very basic English and then left us to it. The apartments are very clean. Unfortunately the bathroom was typically Greek. Everything worked but there was a small crack in the shower screen and the shower wouldn’t hook on the wall so you had to hold it yourself whilst showering. The shower space is massive, you can quite easily fit two people in there at the same time (one to hold the shower head whilst the other showers!). The kitchen is basic with two cooking rings but has a large fridge and ample storage. We also had a large bottle of water left in the fridge for us – very good idea as we needed it when we got there. Our air-conditioning was free but we found we didn’t need it. There was a large balcony to relax on with table and chairs. We were also accompanied with a nest of Housemartins (very cute to watch their heads bobbing in and out). The pool looked dirty when we got there but soon realised that the bottom is cobbled stone and the pool is perfectly clean. There are enough sun beds to go around too. There is bar right by the pool where you can get drinks, ice cream and possibly the best ever ham and cheese toastie you will ever taste. Evening entertainment at the hotel is Alex and his amazing card trick, he also knows no bounds of magic with a box of matches. The hotel is very well maintained. Our towels were changed once while we were there so I would recommend taking another towel if you are like me and tend to get your make up all over them. There is a friendly family atmosphere with the staff and if you need anything they are happy to help. We attempted some greek language on Kostas and found him and Mrs Kostas lovely. We went to the Thursday all you eat BBQ. There were large helpings of food and it will be a good opportunity to meet everyone in the hotel if you haven’t by then already. You could probably eat better for 10 Euros elsewhere but we enjoyed meeting other people from the hotel for one night and the quiz was a good laugh. The beach is a 5 minute walk away but sadly is more shingle than sand. I can highly recommend the unfashionable local sea shoes for anyone wanting to make a James Bond style exit from the sea! Watching my boyfriend stumble and swear as he came ashore wasn’t the most romantic things I’ve seen. Soon rectified by the shoes though and will also help protect you from standing on anything you shouldn’t in the sea. The front has many eating places to select from. The worst one we tried was the Kleanthis Bar. We had the wined chicken but it was swimming in grease and absolutely tasteless. We were forced to have afters and starters put on our table which we really didn’t want and then were charged for them too. On previous recommendations we hunted down the Cockney Café. We weren’t disappointed either, the servings were massive. The smaller English breakfast was a huge plate full and a taste of home. Another really nice eating place in Polichrono was the Tulip Bar on the next street down from the cockney café. It is signposted from near the jewellers. The owner speaks and understands perfect English so if you need to request any special eating requirements he is able to oblige, plus the food there is gorgeous. Wish we had found it sooner on our holiday than we did. We visited Hanioti a couple of nights, which is the next resort along and only a 5 minute taxi journey away. We had a lovely meal at the Arhontiko restaurant and steakhouse. I can highly recommend the Mousaka. If you get a cab to Hanioti walk two minutes towards the beach in Polichrono and you will find the taxi rank on the right hand side of the road. Catching a cab from here is a couple of Euros cheaper than ordering it from the hotel for some reason. We also did a Thomson organised coach trip called the secrets of Sithonia. I can honestly say that this was more of an endurance test than a trip. It was 38 degrees and the air-conditioning on the coach was but a mere rumour. This took all the enjoyment out of the tour not that it would have been that great anyway. We were taken to a few resorts and invited to look around the shops which mostly contained the similar souvenir items of those on the Polichrono beach front. Also half the trip was the same journey as going back to the airport. We were never to discover the secret of Sithonia but we are guessing that the secret is not to go on a coach with the air-conditioning broken. Also we talked to another couple who had done a similar tour booked from a local tour organiser for considerably cheaper rate so shop around for tours. All in all we had a fantastic holiday, great place to go and relax just wish we didn’t have to come back and we would happily go there again. P.S. take a mosquito repellent as although there weren’t many there, I did get bitten 20 times and one chap at the resort was badly bitten. If we were staying for two weeks then I think we would rent a car to explore the areas further.
great greek holiday

Absolutly first class place to stay, 100% cleanliness all round. The apartments were beautifully furnished and lots of room, although the people opposite did not think so, as their apartmentwas smaller than ours and they had 2 children(we did pay a supplement though). Kostas did not like us having a drink on our balcony, but we were self catering; and our barbeque was definately not worth 10 euros, as we could eat out for that, with drink, when we chose to. Polichronois a real little piece of Greece, and despite catering for tourists, you can still go to a proper taverna and eat real greek food, if you ask. However, it was a lovely location and a lovely holiday, despite the horrendous thunder storms.
Great time had at the Kostas Apartments

We have just returned from a week at the Royal Kostas Apartments, I must admit its our first time to Greece and it was'nt our first choice, so we really did'nt know what to expect. We arrived quite late and were warmly greeted by Kostas and his family, Kostas does'nt speak very much English and we could'nt speak any Greek but he showed us to our apartment and demonstrated how everything worked. The apartment was very modern and spotlessly clean. we found the same to be true of the pool area and bar, Alex the bar man (and Kostas right hand man), speaks a little English and can translate if need be! One night a week there is a BBQ which Kostas does himself with the help of his daughter, the food is excellent and definately worth attending. Polichrono is an old Greek seaside village with a long stretch of goldens sand and shingle beach, there are plenty of bars and restaurant a few shops and a couple of excellent bakaries!! The locals are very friendly and not at all pushy. The only time we left Polichrono was to walk to Hanioti which took about an hour, we hopped in a taxi for the return journey which cost just 5 euros. We had a wonderful holiday and will definately return the Royal Kostas Apartments. .
We have just returned from 2 weeks at Royal Kostas. Everything about it was simply perfect! Kostas is a wonderful man who, along with his staff, can't do enough for his guests. The cleaners came in every day, they even folded my clothes for me, and the room was always... more
