just returned from 2 weeks at the royal kosta late booking with thomsons. In the new block spotless clean Maria and Kosta were there to welcome you and took you to your appartment. The bar area isnt very big and the snacks very basic beer and wine very reasonably priced loads of tavernas just over the road and a fantastic bakery with all kinds of food again very reasonably priced a supermarket next door we found a bit cheeper than the one on the main path. look out for the 2 little white dogs, they visit each morning for breakfast they also run off with your clothes and towels on the front rail of the appartment on the ground floor but are very timid and cute. The beach a bit shaily you can use the sun beds all day for the price of a drink hot or cold usually about 4euros great value would return again

Have just come back from 2 weeks at the Royal Kostas. The rooms are excellent, i think the block we were in were fairly new. There are some little dogs that roam around very friendly and do like a some left overs now and agian. Kostas the owner can come across quite grumpy maybe a little rude, but i think its just that his english is not that great, think he is quite a joker really. If you go as a few groups all put together for a saftey deposit box, they cost 10 euros a week and we asked if me and my mum (been in diffrent rooms) could share which they did not allow. so dont tell them your sharing.
polychrono is a lovely little town, with lots of nice shops, taverns and bakerys. There is an icecream bar along the front which is called ice Theropy, excellent service and great choice of icecream, my daughter (4) loved it. The cockney cafe is a great place to eat, very reasonable in price and very friendly staff, the belly buster breakfast is well worth ago and at 7 euros its worth the money.
If you decided to go to hanioti, which is a very nice town the bus stop is not the one you think it is going to be, it is just another 2 mins up the road there is a sign on it telling you, but we were not sure how old this notice was so ignored it but were wrong to. just walk a little further up the road and its there.
There was myself 27, my partner 39, my daughter 4, my mum 49 and my dad 50. all enjoyed this place soit does caters for all ages.
One more thing, we hired a car and travelled around the island, would strongley recomend there are some lovely places along each side of the island.

Just got back from the royal kostas apartments. I travelled with my family of wife and 2 children for one week. We didnt know what to expect as we only booked it a couple of weeks before hand and never visited mainland greece before. We really enjoyed our days relaxing around the pool and having nice meals on a evening in polochrono centre. The apartments are spacious and clean the pool area is also very clean and the sun beds are to a good standard. The Kosta family are really welcoming and very freindly and were always fussing my kids. The rapour around the bar and pool was great and I must thank most of the travellers for acknolidging my kids and fussing them as they were the only kids in and around the hotel that week ( George, carol..... counciller Brain of the westerhope ward and liz... and every one else)I must say we all enjoyed our week there.. If your looking for a relaxing week in a nice resort with an abundance of quility restaurants (kepetanios was our favourite)this may be the place for you.... (mind the conckney cafe was not to my liking food was bland but thats only my opionion as we only tried it once)the wednesday night BBQ at the kostas is also a must... Enjoy

We booked this holiday as a late deal when other plans fell through.
Overall we thought this was a great value deal. The appartments in the new block were new, modern and extremely clean. The balcony overlooked a small paddock lined by olive trees with a plough in it. There is a bit of noise from the traffic, but that was counteracted by a local guy occasionally playing the Greek guitar. Charming. They are the other side of a fairly busy rd but this was not a problem in Sept. Maria and Kostas were efficient hosts, who left you alone if that's what you wanted or socialised if you preferred. Pools were clean, on the small side if you want to swim loads, but hey, there is a beach down the road.
The resort itself was clean with some good resturants. Nice not to be charged for sunbeds if you buy a drink at the relevant bar.
Afitos is a lovely town to visit if you want a day out.
Overall, whilst not the prettiest Greek destination I have been to, it was great value and we were pleased with our last minute break.

Stayed at Royal Kostas 30th Aug - 6th Sept 2010 and were totally dissapointed with the apartments and the resort.
Having read good reviews before going i wasnt too worried but it was a total let down.
On arrival we were checked in from the side of the pool coz "reception" is just a converted broom cupboard.
The "superior" studio was clean but dull with no colour,a bright picture on the wall could have cheered it up a bit....TV (but may as well not have it coz only local channels)....only one bedside table....no chair at all in the room so either sit on the bed or go on the balcony....A two ring portable stove and a fridge is the kitchen....a toaster would have been nice....
Bathroom ok though no hook for the shower...(a struggle to wash your hair to say the least).....
Only had change of towels and bedding once.....!! They do this on Mon and Thursdays.
Air con was a really good system controlled by remote...very effective.
The balconys have no privacy at all and no views....we were in the new block and our outlook was a field full of weeds and a disused tractor......you could hear the traffic from the busy main road and local dogs constantly barking....
The pools were far too small for the amount of people housed in these apartments....we had a look and didnt even bother using the pool once.....theres not enough loungers anyway and they are all closely packed together.
The bar, although reasonably priced, had no atmosphere or entertainment. (3 euros a pint of beer,4 euros a short)
A weekly barbeque and quiz is held ....10 euro each....not really worth it considering the local restaurants have good meals at reasonable prices.
The town and the beach are a disgrace.....you cant stroll around the town coz of cars and motorbikes constantly behind you and parts of the pavements missing.
There is lots of graffiti and litter and no one has smiles on their faces.....We found out Polycrono is known as the "miserable village"....How true....!!
We found the best places to eat were Georges and Tulips.
It is really best to get out and see the other towns which are slightly better....but dont rely on the local buses....they just turn up randonly every couple of hrs...
I wouldnt recommend the "Sunsail" trip....we paid 48 euros each for this from the rep and feel we were misadvised....First you stop at a horrible shingle beach for an hour then back on the boat for lunch....(a burger with tomatoe, cucumber and a spoonful of cold rice).....oh and a choice of drink 1/2 a plastic cup of orange cordial or 1/2 plastic cup of wine......Then on to Turtle Island .....infested by wasps....we werent told beforehand that you dont get off on land .....you have the choice to jump off in 20ft deep water or stay on the boat.....so would not recommend this trip.
Maybe we have been spoiled with the previous holidays we have taken (including many to Greece)....but this has got to be the worst place i have ever been to....!!!
Would not recommend Royal Kostas to anyone.......and wouldnt recommend Polycrono.....Best just to avoid this "miserable" place....

We booked the superior studio rooms on a last minute deal with Thomsons. Having read various reviews (the majority of which were very positive) we were intrigued to see what we would find. We were shown straight to our rooms by Maria and were amazed at the quality of what we found. The rooms are large with modern fittings and even a flat screen TV (local channels only)and they were exceptionally clean and kept that way throughout our 2 week stay. All the public areas were thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis and Kostas obviously takes great pride in his establishment. We did not find the bar expensive but did suggest they put on a wider range of bar snacks as these were good value. We have been to Greece and its Islands many times and without doubt this is the best accomodation we have stayed in. Polychrono itself has a nice beach and plenty of Tavernas. We ate out everynight and did not have 1 bad meal. The average cost for 5 of us was around 10 euro a head which included soft drinks and a litre of local wine. We would highly recommend the Royal Kostas and Polychrono.

We have just got home from our 2 week stay in the royal Kostas, and we had a great time. The appartments are lovely, cleaned every day apart from Sunday. The owner "Kostas" is lovely and very funny, any problems and he and Marie sort it out straight away. We had the bar-b-que on both weeks of our stay, i dont eat meat, and kostas cooked me a fish specially , which i thought was really nice of him. The children are 5, and 9 and they loved it in the pool, cleaned every day by Alex, who was also very nice man. The beach is nice, alot of shingle, the sea is so clear, warm and lovely to swim in. I would holiday again at the Royal Kostas, and i hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Enjoy xx

We were lucky enough to stay at the royal kostas may 2010, these apartments are a good size and very clean. I had read some reviews before traveling with my group so felt we had picked a good place. The resort its self lovely with a very good bakery for your bread and cakes, to the icecream shop opposit, and 2 supermarkets for all you other requirements.
We ate at the Flegra, fantastic greek food and very good value for money, i recommend you choose a selection of starters and enjoy as a meze, nothing was too much trouble for these guy's Henry, Yiannis and Nikos were great and would help you if needed, the average cost of our meals for 4 adults 2 children with drinks was 55 euro's.
The beach was lovely but is mostly shingle, so wear shoes to protect your feet, the sea was lovely but it had a steep shelf, so you could be out of your depth fast, we had a 2 year old with us and found it a bit tricky to take him in, the 8 year old managed very well.
The sunloungers were free as long as your bought a drink at the bar and you could stay as long as you liked.
The Royal Kostas is family run and Maria is helpfull and friendly, We had read that Kostas is a little grumpy, but i think its just his english is not too good, he liked the fact that we speak greek and the 8 year old also tried his greek, so we got on with him and his wife fine. We didnt spend any time at the bar as the children were so tired after a lovely day that they were in bed by 10.30 so we spent the evenings on our balcony.
A word of caution, the road to the resort is difficult to cross at times, they do not take any notice of red lights and there is a slip road to the right that you dont take much notice of when you are trying to watch the main road, please take care, i came close to getting hurt here, we only crossed the road well away from this slip road after that.
I hope you enjoy your stay here as much as we did.

the royal kostas apartment is realy friendly and very clean. We recommened you to stay here , the people in the restaurants are friendly as well.there was only one place that it was not value for money and the service very bad mannered and that was called george restaurant, also a very good sports bar called laska on the sea front pedro is his name realy polite. we are goin to go back there. the food was very nice especially tulip and fredgra. tulip is on a sidestreet next to the georges restaurant and fredgra is on the sea front with a parrot in a cage. halkidiki is a fantastic place. so we recommened you to stay in the royal kostas apartments. from malc, diane and billie-jo. atkins

We have just returned from 2 weeks at Royal Kostas. Everything about it was simply perfect! Kostas is a wonderful man who, along with his staff, can't do enough for his guests.
The cleaners came in every day, they even folded my clothes for me, and the room was always spotlessly clean when they left. They went out of their way to talk in English and be friendly.
The pool was thoroughly cleaned every evening.
The bar staff were brilliant. Never had to wait long for a drink, and always served with a smile.
We loved every minute of it and can't wait to go back again soon. Would highly recommend it.
