Arrived on 28th june to find a very quiet complex with hardly anyone around. Bungalows are a bit small so a squeeze to fit our things in with two kids. They are cleaned every day but our sheets were only changed once in the two weeks we were there. As advertised in brochure there was a sauna yet this was used as a store room, not that we wanted to use one as weather was fantastic. After a sneaky week last May, My girlfriend and I have just returned from another great 2weeks in these basic but charming bungalows. This complex is ideally situated, only 10 mins by taxi from the airport, (apprx 10 euros), so no need to wait on coach transfers. On arrival we found the reception staff were very friendly and spoke very good English, nothing is a bother to them, i.e. organising car hire, booking taxis,excursions etc. even requesting a specific bungalow on arrival (no. 406) which we had last May was not a problem. Booked hotel with Alpharooms & flight with Thomson Fly. Arrived on Friday 14th March, got a taxi straight away from Airport to apartments, only 10 Euros. Took 10mins to arrive, got checked in very quickly, reception staff spoke good English & very helpful. We hired a safe on the first day, it cost 10 Euros for the week + 3 Euros deposit, which you get back when you hand the key in. Room (505) was very clean and quite spacious. This was a cheap holiday booked last minute. It would have been cheaper if we hadn't been charge excess £54 for excess luggage, only allowed 15 kg each now, and despite thinking I'd packed light, I hadn't. Everything went smoothly on the way there and we decided not to pay the travel operator for transfers and got a taxi to and from the airport which was much cheaper. The location of these apartments are ideal, only 5 mins from the beach and restaurants, (no need to shell out for any taxis). They are clean but very basic and in need of updating. I agree that air con would be a nice touch as the room was extremely hot in the evening. The pool itself was ok but most of the sun beds are broken and you have to rent un umbrella which I have never experienced before. Just got back from these bungalows and here are the plain facts you need to know. Firstly there is no air conditioning which is a shame because although there is a slight breeze on the island this does not compensate for the very warm rooms after returning back from a day out in the heat. Also difficult to sleep, had to leave windows open so bitten by flys. Beds were rock hard. Also, you are on the approach path to the airport and you can almost see the tread of the tyres let alone the extremely loud noise. You cant have a conversation until... more

My Wife and I got back in March after a week in the Castillo Playa Apartments,which we understand was going through new Management,but we really enjoyed it although they are Basic we would rate them higher than some we have stayed, Great Location,friendly staff,rooms are lovely and clean all you could ask for to have a nice holiday. Just back from 1 week staying at the Castillo playa with my husband and 2 kids (4 and 1). Apartments were very clean, although basic but had all you needed, got cot on arrival, hired highchair for 12 euros for the week, staff were very friendly and helpful, the grounds were kept clean .One downside is that there is no aircon, so wouldn’t recommend for summer months but perfect for a winter sun break.If going during winter months be prepared for a cold pool as it is not heated. we have been to these apartments for the last 3 years we have always been very well looked after by the staff who are very helpful and speak good english.the only thing they need to improve is the pool which is very cold during the winter months perhaps heating it would be a good idea but otherwise we recommend anybody to go they are near everything that you need excellent
