Great Service!
from 1TheAlbion
Had a lovely 2 night DBB stay at The Murraypark (£118.00 total cost - booking with the Hotel directly), would highly recommend it for a short getaway. The service was very attentive, the hotel extremely clean and the food was of an excellent standard. It’s worth venturing to the Hydro for the Victorian Spa (an additional £7.50pp), better than using the standard pool as it was mainly for the kids. The gym is well equipped and the Hydro has some great leisure options: golf range / horse riding etc. Nice little hotel, only slight criticism would be that the bathrooms could do with a bit of updating...
A Highlight of our UK trip -- great staff, great room, great rate
from ccrosner
Our family of four stayed at Murraypark Hotel for two nights based on the great reviews here on Tripadvisor and were not disappointed. In fact, our stay there was a highlight of our 10 day trip to the UK. We booked a family room and were delighted to find that it had a large bathroom and that the room itself was divided by a wall (no doors) into two areas. We had a king bed and the kids had a great bunk bed! It had all of the amenities we needed (coffee, hairdryer, wifi access, toiletries) and was very clean. Also very quiet and nice room darkening drapes. We most enjoyed our meals and our interaction with the staff. Luke, Amalia, Christina and Iain added immeasurably to our trip by making us feel at home, sharing their Scottish heritage, and offering advice on day trips, etc. We most enjoyed sitting at the bar after dinner just chatting with the staff. The price for room, breakfast and dinner was about $360 for the four of us which was a great deal. The food was delicious and we would have easily come in under our allotted dinner allowance had we not added alcohol to the charges. We took full advantage of our free access to the Crieff Hydro resort which was a great break for the kids. They loved the indoor pool (what kid doesn't?), the outdoor chess set, the vending machines, snooker tables and ceilidh. My daughter and I had a blast learning some of the highland dances and it brought back terrific memories of my Scottish grandmother and her Jimmy Shand records. We were disappointed that we were not able to schedule some target shooting for our son but should have reserved further in advance. For us, the Murraypark was a preferable place to stay than Crieff Hydro. It was much quieter and more homey. We even got to meet the owner of the entire complex one evening at dinner. He was dining at Murraypark with his lovely family and they could not have been nicer. We were surprised to hear that the resort is privately owned. We highly recommend this property and its location for touring the central portion of Scotland with children. Wish we had just stayed here for our last night as well--we were sorry to leave. Only problem: it's hard to find even when you ask the Crieff Hydro bell staff for directions. They need to send you directions or put a sign up. If you are coming from the East and make the first right turn up the hill in Crieff for the Hydro, watch for Connaught Terrace BEFORE you get to the back gate of the Hydro.
Excellent

We have just returned from an eight night stay at the Murraypark. Have visited it before, but thought this time was the best. The food at breakfast and dinner was excellent, with a vast selection at both. Friends and family joined us for two meals here even though they were staying in the Hydro and were very impressed by the quality, price and service. I agree that the Murraypark has a more personal touch than the Hydro. Oliver and his staff were very friendly and certainly made our holiday more enjoyable by their attentive service. Our room had been refurbished last year and overlooked the garden and some hills. It was of a high standard as were the bar, lounge and restaurant. Carpet upon entering the hotel and going up the stairs could do with replacing though. As you can use all the facilities at the Hydro, I would choose the Murraypark everytime. It's much more personal and cheaper. Looking forward to my next holiday there.

Just returned from 2 nights DB&B,great value, lovely hotel, very freindly staff, great location. Part of the Crieff Hydro estate but take our advice and stay here instead of the Hydro. You can use all the facilities of the Hydro but this hotel is much more homely and is only a few minutes walk form the Hydro.
Wow. Great Hotel AND Great Value - Whats the Catch?

My wife and I managed to get away from the kids for two nights, to include Valentines Day and could not have picked a better place to stay. The staff were very helpful and so friendly from arrival right through to departure. The room was excellent, clean and spaceous. The food was tremendous and I recommend the fillet steak, it is to die for. The wine list is of a high standard and very reasonable for the quality of wines available. We will definately go back. The fact that the Hydro is only a 5 minute walk, where you can use all their facilities for no charge (with the exception of the Victorian Spa), just adds to the deal.
great for families

Well i had heard alot about crieff hydro so i decided to stay at their sister hotel ,(it was half the price)i took my 2 kids and mam for 3 night stay,we got to use all the leisure facilities at the hydro, pool, evening entertainment, kids club everything, horse riding and stuff like that are paid for.Food in our hotel was lovely,we could have ate in hydro(we did once) but our hotel was just as nice if not better for food and it was lovely and relaxed too.rooms where fine, clean bit small but it was just to sleep in!!i suppose the hydro rooms are alot better but i would rather spend the extra £300.00 on my kids than in a extra swanky hotel room,we where at that hotel till 11pm each night, they have ceildhs for kids and adults and a club for kids 3 times daily for various age groups. today i have just booked to go back for 3 nights in november with hubby and kids,it is great for a short break..........
nice hotel, shame about the restaurant
from A TripAdvisor Member
hotel was fine, good large room, ample bathroom, nice and clean, friendly staff. Restaurant was very variable. We waited fourty minutes for breakfast then the porrage was lumpy and inedible, the cooked breakfast looked as though it had been thrown on the plate and the poached eggs were rock hard and swimming in vinegar water. Next day breakfast speedy and excellent! Dinner that night excellent too! Following night booked dinner at 7.30 got our food at 9.00! Main course was good but desert was frozen solid and inedible (At least thay had the decency not to charge us for it) A good break was spoiled by an eratic kitchen. Apparently the old chef is on his way out so perhaps things will improve.
Beware!!

Stayed at The Hydro's sister hotel in Crieff - The Murraypark Hotel, managed by the Crieff Hydro. Bookings are arranged through the Crieff Hydro. When booking 7 weeks in advance l specifically requested a large family room with double bed, single bed and a cot in the older part of the hotel. l was told this was available, therefore l reserved the room and l was given the room number and paid our deposit. I subsequently received written confirmation of this. On arrival at the hotel for what was meant to be a relaxing family weekend away, we were told that the room we had booked was no longer available as it had been allocated the previous evening to another guest, and we had been allocated a room in the more modern part of the hotel. On going to this room it was much smaller and of a lower standard than what l had been told on booking and there was no cot for our baby to sleep in. On complaining we had to sit in the bar for 20 minutes or so with our two wearisome children while they phoned the Crieff Hydro and tried to sort something out. We were told the hotel was full and no other room was available. In order to get a cot in the room they had to remove a beside cabinet - space was so tight. The room needed decorating and the carpets cleaned. We were told we could have a £10 per night reduction on the rate l had booked at - hardly satisfactory. We were told the room we were now in was of the same standard as what we had booked. I was sure this wasn't the case and the next day l took the opportunity to see the room we were meant to have while it was being cleaned - there was absolutely no comparison, and was what l had expected - spacious, newly decorated and of a much higher standard and had a separate bedroom area for my daughter and plenty of room for a cot. The next day the junior manager, who was very helpful, got us moved to another room with more space. We had to go to the hassle of moving all our belongings for just one nights stay in another room - but it was definately better than staying where we were. From what l gather generally the booking system is in a shambles - other guests have had similar expreiences. So just beware before you book.

The hotel itself was lovely but not overly welcoming; it seemed to be more suited for older couples, very quiet. With three very young children we felt a bit out of place, especially since our room was located next to the dining room. Our room door opened directly to the... more
