The New Inn at Kidmore End is situated down picturesque, winding country roads. We understood from the owner that it has been completely refurbished in the last two years and now provides up market accommodation situated to the rear of a traditional looking inn. Much of the original features have been retained with wooden beams, fireplaces and wide-boarded oak flooring still remaining.
We stayed for one night (Friday) during a long weekend break and sampled dinner, bed and breakfast.
Our evening meal was superb. Perfectly cooked, modern cuisine with great service. A lovely bottle of wine from a good selection accompanied our dinner.
The bar has a good atmosphere and is obviously a favorite of the locals. Hubbie was delighted to find that the pub also had Hob Goblin ale on tap!
We stayed in their top room, the Champagne Suite, which I can highly recommend for a treat. The room has a very comfortable super king size bed and a 42" plasma TV with freeview and DVD player. There is a vaulted ceiling and mood lighting along with tasteful, modern decor. Tea and coffee are provided but it would have been nice to have some biscuits as well as when we arrived when they were 'shut' and we had missed lunch so could have done with a little something to see us through the two hours until the pub opened.
Behind the wall with the TV on it is a walk-in jet shower; big enough for at least two! The bathroom itself has a lovely deep bath and twin wash basins.
Breakfast was a very good quality full English with my only complaint being there was no cereal or fruit available.
Overall, I would highly recommend the New Inn for anyone wanting to stay somewhere with a little more character than the normal faceless hotel chains.
