Mercure Coralia Chamonix Hotel

Close to train station, so you can leave in a hurry. Poor show. Breakfast was an "All Day Breakfast" except it was yesterday's. Food was BAD. The thought of eating any breakfast carried a health warning in your mind. Complained but usual french ignorance that thier food is the best. Unfortunatley not this time, or any time that ive stayed in a Novotel owned hotel. Room was old and worn. But done the job. Would not stay there again. Chamonix was its usual rip off place. Stayed at this hotel for a short snowboard break to catch a bit of the white stuff before it goes. We arrived after midnight but the staff were very helpful even with our lack of french vocabulary. Our room was small compared to what im used to but it was comfy. The balcony was huge and had some beautiful views of mont blanc and the surroundings. THe location was superb. Good points...Ski stop 5 mins, Good rooms, Quiet but central location, Great breakfast, ski rental opposite, lots of buzz at the bar, nice atmosphere Bad Points..Not the hotel but the price and queues in Chamonix - We spent half of our trip squashed like sardines in the bus shuttles and cable cars and expect to pay 37 euros per day for your skipass which is NOT refundable if the resorts are closed cos of bad weather! Also use the ChamExpress if flying to Geneva as it's quick and only 25 euros ow.

Had a one night stopover in the Mercure 'en route' to Tuscany. Hadn't booked so walked in off the street late in the day and paid 102 euros for a double without breakfast. Loved Chamonix itself - pretty place even without the snow. Bit of a 'motel style' basic room (usually suitable for 4) with the double room off in a smaller area. Sure it's perfect for a family in the ski season. Clean bathroom and stunning view of Mont Blanc from our balcony which also faced the railway line. We have just come back from one night in Chamonix as part of a trip around the area and stayed at this hotel. It was fantastic. The staff were great, the room was big and very clean and fantastic views of the mountains. The location is superb and there are loads of extras like darts and the pool table to make your stay relaxing. We were very impressed and would go back. Thanks

We stayed at this hotel during the August holiday season and we were given a room in the building across the street. The apartment had two separate rooms and a balcony with two chairs, with an extraordinary panorama on the Mont Blanc and its glacier. Service was very good and we opted for private car parking, which is expensive (20 euros per night) but is very convenient to the lift that takes to the rooms. We stayed 4 nights at this hotel which is close to the railway station and split into 2 sections on opposite sides of the road. If staying in the "annex" there is a coded push button entrance and it could be inconvenient if the weather is unkind crossing the road for breakfast . However the disco is in the annex so there are also advantages in the split system. Booked a family room for 5 people. Unfortunately car park was full but public car park 100m next to hotel had plenty of space. Room was excellent - very clean as well. Bedroom with double bed, seperate sitting room with sofa bed and little side room with seperate single bed. Kids were happy as 2 flat screen tv's and good views of the Mt Blanc. Full breakfast included. We paid about 220 Euros which I thought was a good price.

Although this hotel is centrally located right next to the train station, it simply wasn't worth it. There are other hotels in the same area that are better, and less money or equivelent in price. The rooms are in desperate need of updating. They have a "1970's" look and feel to them. They do not have a cozy or quaint ambience. If you're just looking for a place to sleep and be gone it will suffice. The breakfast which was not included was horrendous. Gave it a second chance on the second morning with the same outcome. This hotel has the perfect location for Chamonix. It is right next to a bus stop that will take you to the nearby lifts and near to all the great restaurants in the town. The restaurant and bar areas are great but the rooms could do with some attention but overall pretty good. If you happen to break your shoulder in Chamonix as I did, you can be sure you will get the proper attention. Enjoy!
