My friends and I were looking for a cheap holiday in the sun. We asked Thompson to find us a lively, fun resort, we were not to bothered what the accomadation was like (sleeping was not high on our agenda). As soon as I arrived at freestyle village it felt as if I had been there a hundred times before. I felt welcomed, the staff were warm and friendly, nothing was to much hassle for them to sort out. We were well informed about the hotel and its services. The standard of our rooms were better than I expected. They were very basic and the bathrooms were not as clean as i would have like but to be fair I paid under £400 for two weeks, I wasnt expexting the Ritz carlton!!!
The people we met were all fantastic, a true random mix of ages, class and background. Kavos is exactly what it says on the tin, a fun, lively resort, if you have an open mind you will have a great time.
I find it hard to believe that people go to Kavos and do not enjoy themselves. Surely people put a bit of research into the destination they are heading for??? If you are looking for beautiful sandy beaches and a place to unwind then Kavos is not for you. Kavos is just a town full of bars and nightclubs but for me and my friends Kavos gave us much more than a hangover, we met some truly fantastic people and will always have great memories of the laughs we had.
I would highly recommend Freestyle village to anyone who would think they would enjoy it. My friends and I will be going back next year!!!.

Try to avoid. After searching for a cheap holiday at short notice for myself and three friends we came across this one. Looked ok and the reviews sounded good enough.
However on arrival our fears were realised, we were made to hand over our passports to reception which I thought was odd and when I asked for the use of a safe the only offer was a shared box in the middle of reception. Two of use could lift it up and carry it out of the hotel easily, had we wanted to, CCTV or not.
The hotel block (we were in B) stank of sewerage, particularly near our room as did the entire main strip of the resort in fairness. The corridor to our room was in complete darkness for the first half of our one week stay, easy to tell why with an uncovered circuit trip box on the wall accompanied by a constant buzzing sound. And then there was the room.
We had the use of air con for 40 euros for the week, which whichever way you look at it was the only plus point. The odour from the bathroom was disgracefull, the shower curtain was dangerous by barely hanging up and the shower head had nothing to hang up on, it was broken and unattached. We had the use of two plug sockets, one of which could be pulled completely out of the wall showing bare wires again. The balcony door was difficult to lock as the handle was damaged (becoming a common theme). The fridge worked and the matress wasn't bad either! There were cracks in the walls which followed on outside of the room which if I were a builder I would advise a structural assesment of the building in the close season.
A couple of friends of ours had their room door broken from outside, a small crack which the hotel deemed reasonable to charge them 260 euros to repair. The reps were 'unable' to assist them even though they were in their room when it happened. The hotel managment only wanted to deal with my friends while the reps weren't there and if they had refused to pay the police would have been involved. Rough justice and an all too familiar case of 'rip off the British tourist'.
The noise from the loud music outside and people arriving home late weren't a problem personally and is to be expected in a resort of this kind. But the arrogance of the cleaners between 7.30am and 8.30am was not acceptable. The shouting, laughing and banging of doors could not have been louder if they had tried, some of the bar's in town sounded quieter by comparison! The last thing that anyone needed after returning to bed at 4am was this and this applies to nearly all of the residents.
The availability of sun loungers was poor and the amount of space occupying sun was even worse, this is in September so I wouldn't like to know what it would be like in high season. The range of food was not great unless you enjoy cheese and ham toasties and a pint of decent lager- to be honest, was 3.50 euros from a plastic cup. Two of the six pool cues were intact.
I am disappointed with Thomson (Freestyle) for this hotel. After travelling to Turkey in June with them and having a fantastic time this is the last thing I had expected. The resort in my opinion is poor although I cannot blame Thomson for that.
Try to avoid Kavos as a clubbing destination, it really isn't that good and it smells REALLY bad. I've been to Faliraki and Magalluf before and both are far far better. If you cannot avoid Kavos, most definately avoid Freestyle Village.

Kavos is not for the faint hearted!!
Me and 3 others arrived in Kavos at 12.30 in the morning and was dropped of in the middle of the strip by our greek coach driver who gave us very very good directions to our hotel, they were turn left. well that helped. we were walking around kavos main strip with heavy bags. (2 weeks of stuff) asking for directions and no1 knew where the hotel was. even PRs. we finally managed to find the freestyle village and asked for help. he then directed us to a totally different hotel 5minutes down the road. The annex isnt the same builing as the village as we found out on the night we arrived.
The state of the hotel rooms was absolutly disguisting. condoms in the toilet, mucky bathhroom floor, very very limited kitchen equipment. The shower wasnt big enough to stand in never mind have a shower and it also gave you a shock everytime it was turned on. we just went to bed.
Next morning we went to the welcome meeting they do at the freestyle village and i must admit they had done it alot of times before. they gave us a cup of sambuka mixed with blue dye. sick!!! then they ranted on trying to sell the excursions!!!
We bought all the excursions they offered and from there on the holiday just got better and better. apart from PR's nagging. We spread all the nights out over two weeks so had a few nights to ourself and a few to recover. The school disco was amazing in the foam. Theos boat trip was the highlight with fran cosgrove DJ on the boat. The big Dog yeah you guessed it, Tim Westwood was at Trinity at future and atlantis. The place everyone goes Wed N Sun and it was amazing.
One other highlight of the holiday was that there were 7year old albanian girls selling glow sticks in clubs on their own and they are thieving gypsies. Beware!!
The condom in the toilet and the rubsh room was soon forgotten about as we only really used it 1 hour at night to get ready and then from 6am till 11am every day to sleep in. the cleaner woke us up at 11am every morning to pretend to clean. but they do work 7 days a week!!!
The hotel staff at the annex were great, right on the beach. not that you'd use the beach but it overlooked mainland greece and they played music at the poolside all day while you recoverd from the night before.
By the end of the two weeks we had had the best time of our lives and didnt want to go but we were so exhausted we had to go.
Thank you very much BRETT HARVEY AND TOREY (The reps) for making the holiday one to remember!!!!!!! IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE BEST YET!!!!!

Ive rated my experience a 7 due to the fact that we made it a good holiday, and several bad points worked in our favour! We went in Aug 2008 when the season was unexpectedly quite - thank God.
The Freestyle Village is a young and lively resort, which attracted just that. However, im 23 and found it too lively in the fact that i got 3hrs sleep each night due to the loud neighbours within the appartment. The walls are paper - be warned.
The strip of clubs, bars, restaurants where a stones throw a way from the appartments, but the amount of PR reps stopping you was unreal! get a stack of leaflets from one of the bars and when u get stopped pretend your working! saying that we made mates with a couple of them.
For the appartment I strongly suggest buying the aircon (40euros) to make the room livable. A safe is available also for 10 euro. Reception staff and pool staff were brilliant. The Freestyle reps were ok - be prepared for the over practiced welcome meeting. A boat trip is offered (bout 50 euro) which was good as it went to main land greece for the day. The beach advertised next to the appartments isnt a beach - its a thin strip of sand coverd in rubbish. We didnt use it we just walked on it once!
The cleaners are LOUD in the mornings. You can hear them but they didnt clean our room for several days! Bring a bath towel with you as we had to use the same one for the week! Nice! The walls where covered with squashed mosqitos also!
Brilliant food available strongly suggest Rosso (Next to the appartments) especially in the evening round 7ish as the restaurant leads on from the "beach" over looking greece - beautiful. Food was amazin and staff were nice...and fit!
Also the Golden Fleece and Desperados were a favourite (desperados was more expensive).
Its one for the lively only. If you dont mind loud music 22hrs a day and noisey neighbours you'll love it. Drink offers everywhere! I wouldnt go back again, but it was an experience!

holiday began well with fairly quick flight, just under 3 hours but then the nightmare began. firstly the 2 hour winding transfer to the hotel is not something i enjoyed too much, then as we got off the bus being heckled by drunken louts drumming the side of the coach as we drove up the the hotel and abuse being directed straight at me and my friends for not being female. hotel reps were rude, only talking to you if you were prepared to pay 250 euros to take part in the organised trips and totally ignoring you for the whole holiday if you didnt. 24 hour bar which plays music aaaallllllllllllll night long! arrived to broken glass all over the hotel block i was staying in, shared safety deposit box (not very safe), fire extinguisher being let off throughout the night by drunken revelers returning to hotel at 7am. i'm a 23 year old and went with my 3 friends and we were looking for a good time, but to put it in 1 clear word, we were calling it chav-os after 2 days. then to sum the holiday up, on day of departure we had to be out the room by 12 and the hotel thought it would be a good idea to turn the water off at 9:30 in the morning, thanks for that!! enjoy your holiday if your going here, becuase you will do bloody well if you do! overall, holiday from hell and never again not even if it was a free-be.

When we booked this holiday we knew we were staying in the Freestyle Annex. But we had no idea it was a completely different hotel to the Freestyle Village. The Annex did not look anything like the pictures we saw in the brochure, this was because we were looking at pictures of the freestyle village. At first we wanted to move to the Village, however we realised that it was quite nice where we were as we had better facilities e.g hob, cutlery, toaster, plates, saucepans, fridge/freezer and sink. We also had a balcony with a sea view. Where as the Freestyle village only had a fridge/freezer available in the rooms. The staff at the Annex were friendly and the cleaners would come every morning. The rooms were basic but it was all we needed, we only slept and got ready in them.
The beach wasnt the nicest, it was very dirty. But the nightlife made up for it. Snobs was really good! The foam parties are amazing! Theos boat trip is probably more suited to over 20's but still a good day out. There are plenty of restaurants and places to eat - (Cheap fry up for hangover) There is always music playing by the pool and from other pools near by, so wherever you go you cant get away from the music which was great!
Overall it was a good holiday and a perfect place to have a girly get away!

THE ENTIRE HOLIDAY BREAKDOWN YOU MUST READ BEFORE GOING TO KAVOS....
Just back from Kavos today, I stayed at the freestyle Annex. I went with my boyfriend, although we had a good laugh and a nice time away Kavos is definitely not a couples or family holiday.
DO NOT expect any sleep. Music is blasting morning and night along with groups of sceaming drunks. The rooms are basic, you walk in on the left theres the bathroom... a stupid shower with no base so the bathroom floor is soaking and a dodgy toilet and sink, on the right you have a microwave kettle and sink. straight ahead in you room 2 single beds..AIR CON NOT INCLUDED. The staff are very helpful nd kind though so will help you with any questions or problems.
The mosquitos are awful.... definitely get some repellant on your 1st day before you go to sleep you'll wake up in the morning looking like something from a join the dots colouring book!!!
Kavos is also for the strong stomached as the smell is not to pleasant. Theres sweage pipes going into the beach every few hundred meters and even in the street you get wiffs or rotten eggs or dog crap.
In kavos there is.... pubs...... clubs( althought not as big as you'd maybe think) and drink. There is your usual souvinere and food shops but not much else.
If you are going for something other than getting wrecked every night, there is a few travel shops on the main street that do trips to aqua land (water theme park) Albania and Paxos.. if you go to the beach you can see mainland greece and paxos where there is dolphins and caves, you can go to paxos on a cruise with champagne for 35e for the day which isnt bad.
prices range from day light robbery to complete bargain.... you can get offers in most resturants 3 courses for approx 8 or 9 euros.good place to go is eden garden at the far end we had 3 big courses including steaks and free drinks altogether 17e.it was delicious aswell.
corfu airport is expensive so eat before you leave Make sure you dont stay up too late the night before. 9 girls slept in and missed their bus at 8:20am because they were hungover so came on our coach, were sick and missed their flight , not only that but the people that were ment to be on our coach and were there on time had to wait 1 hr for another coach because the girls were too inconsiderate to get up half an hour before. ....Enjoy your holiday,,,, be careful enjoy yourself .Your holiday is only what you make of it and who your with so if theres any boring buggers leave them home "" lol Emz

Just got back from Kavos, the Freestyle Village was very basic, no cutlery, plates, pans, kettle, toaster of hob but you do get a fridge. The hotel at night was full of loud shouts and slamming doors, we even had things stolen from our room. The shower didn't have a holder so we had to hold the shower head in hand when washing.
On the plus side, the Freestyle Village is in the middle of the strip and right next to the beach (which is very dirty), the pool is very nice with a 24hour bar.
Kavos really needs a huge tidy, it looks very messy and the PR's are more annoying then ever!

Me & my friend just got back from Kavos & we had a great holiday! When we arrived we thought oh my god what have we done the place was like a ghost town as the season doesn't really kick off until 1st June, but we still had a fab holiday we met loads of nice people & the weather was great too!
Def recommened Kavos & this hotel no complaints on either. The hotel is so handy right on the beach & just off the strip, if we went back which we are hoping to do so we would def stay in this hotel again. But make sure you stay in block A as block B hasn't been done out & wasn't very nice. Staff really friendly & helpful will miss everyone first class holiday!

Me & a mate went late aug 07. We'd heard it stunk as sewers are poor in Kavos but we only noticed you get a whiff about 11pm every night - this must be when they flush em! From the minute we got there we instantly met so many random people around the pool (we are quite out-going!) this carried on throughout the holiday as everyone just wants a realy great time! Never saw any trouble. Due to water shortage in our block when everyone decides to shower at same time of day after day around the pool we just called on some girls accross balconys in the next block who let us in their room to use theirs! The place to go in early hours of morning is Atlanta (which is like a club on the beach!) with 'After' next door to have more drink with the girls you've met around the bonfire on the beech as you chill & watch the sun rise. The perfect location of Freestyle Village is just along the beach with Cafe Del Mar playing music + 24hr bar! Mark the manager is great however he puts his foot down when he needs to like fined these lads for jumping balconys (fair play to him) Darren the rep was sound too refunding some of our trip money after mate broke his arm in sex club foam party! In the day we went go-karting, hired a spped boat, jet-ski (you name it we done it) The bars show footie or comedy dvds, films on big screens etc which are great for nursing a hangover! We're looking at going back july/aug 08 for the repeat of the time of our lives! See you there girls!!!

there was 8 all together but 2 were ment to be in a hotel 2 mins away from the freestyle villiage (acording to the travel agent)and the other 6 were ment to be all in the freestyle village ! well that didnt happen either as theres also a anex to the freestyle village which they tell you is across the road! no its not its a 5-10min walk depend on what way you go! soo to start the holiday we were all split up :)niicccee !! but anyways thats all I've really got to complain about!!when we got off the bus we were met with the lovely reps bret & tori ! they couldnt have been any nicer!they took us to the hotel & got check in ! ooo soz the other thing is that the hotels down a wee dark lane not every nice to walk down on your own at night but most of the hotels are like this!!
anyways we got upto the room which looked out to the pool & beach, was your standard room beds, shower, fridge,!!even tho we were selfcatering there was no cooking facilities!!we also had 2 extra beds so there was plenty of room ! you must get aircon as me & my friend tryed to last 2 weeks with th eone fan & we done nuthing but fight over it haha ! anyways the rest of my friends were in the anex so we went to check there's out ! the anex is much smaller but better lol ! there rooms were the same just your basic room but they had cooking facilities ! there pool was much much smaller also but we went to there pool everyday was a much better atmosphere than the pool at the other hotel!you got to play your own cd's and everyone new everyone was a really good laugh! if you were here at this time you have noticed borat haha! my other 2 friends that were ment to be 5 min away were actually at the other side of the strip so that was kind of rubbish ! they had to get taxis to our hotel so check yourself before you go as the travel agent clearly just tells you what you wana hear!!
you should sign up for the freestyle stuff aswell, the booze cruise is amazing ! and all the nights out were a good laugh,u have special nights and its like euro a drink & stuff ! then on our last night we had a school disco foam party OMG this was amazinngggg lol ITS AMUST GUYS !!
theres a kind of horrible smell in the morning when your out but am guessing thats corfu's lovely drains lol
then there was the nightlife !! the strips kinda small, well compaired to othere places I have been anyways ! but its a great night out :D ..! theres 2 main dancings TRINITY & for the life of me I cant Think Of The Other One haha ! we went to trinity 1st & its not as good as its made out to be the smaller clubs and pubs are better !! rolling sotnes in the place to be haha they partys out on the street & everything!! also bonkers & barn are good aswell :d ! then you cant beat the good old scottish bar Jocks ! we always started off in here :D !!! Also watch Out For The GIPPOS !!! THEY ROB YOU BLIND !!! You will get small kids coming up and asking to buy hats & things and we'll your talking to them there brother or sisters in your bag or pocket taking your money !!
If Your Wanting To Get A Quadbike then remember to take your provisional or dring licence !! also the water sports are really good we were never off the jet skis loved it !!
Well Guys Hope You Enjoy Kavos As Much As We Did ... Guess Its What You Make Of It that Makes It Good :D xxxx
