Palm Court Apartments

i went to plamcourt apartments in sunnybeach with 24 of my friends in june/july 2008. The accomodation was basic but clean. there was plenty of supermarkets to get food from and the apartments is a two minute drunken stagger home from disco orange!! the only problem we had was lack of kitchen utensils, however complained to rep's and some rooms got back upto 200lev back. was one of the best holidays ever, and tip be nice to the bar staff (mussi) and security guards. there all pretty sound and if your nice to them the offer advice on best places to go, and they sorted us out with taxi's. definately not as bad as the other reviews make it out to be. good for a first time holiday with friends.

we went to bulgaria last year stayed in st vals that year it was ok my god palm court what a night mare??? arrived about 1am dumped by the gate had to find reception where we were pointed to our rooms
*no curtains or blinds
*flee bitten sofas
*ants on the floor
*shower wouldnt worlk
*hairs in the drawers
*the chef washed her greasy mat at poolside which we seen running into the pool
no maid service at all
then half way through the week eletric went had to pack our cases and move to another apartment which was better than the first one
the bulgarians havent grown up within a year i thought they would have become more hospitable they have learnt how to rip you off or mugg you.
the best thing is the beach if the sun shines all this was blamed on the youth they had previously staying there i think not general maintenance wouldnt go a miss

arrived at sunny beach palm courts apartments at 2am after a 14hr 30min delay great start. no rep to greet us.
dumped at the front gate and didnt have a clue where to go. found the reception and had to pay a £15/35 lev deposit each which we were not made aware of by thomson.
staff at reception very unhelpfull, ignorant and very arrogrant and cant speak a word of english. they kept our passports until you asked to get them back. safety deposit box was 35 lev per week which is behind the reception not very safe or a good idea.
were given keys to room and had to find our own way there no directions given by staff. first impressions were that the rooms were spacious and clean. that was about how long the impression lasted. rooms were damaged all over, no shower curtain, damaged walls, balcony door broke, front door damaged, shelves in fridge damaged, rather sleep on a bed of nails than the bed, bed covers were also hopeless.
we didnt have clean towels for a week, no clean sheerts for a week and the room was never cleaned once, the bins full of toilet paper were never emptied once
we were given a piece of paper at the reception to report the damage of the room. this was to be given to the thomson reps (freestlye) the folllowing day. so we wouldnt be blamed for the damage.
a holiday rep, whats that? they were nowhere to be seen for the full holiday i couldnt even tell you there names.
the following morning after a cold night in the room (no heating) the weather was terrible cold and very wet.
when the sun did come out you couldnt get much of it at the pool. as most of the pool area was shaded due to the shape of the building and most of the sun loungers were damaged and broken. you could get about 5 loungers in the sun the rest were in the shade.
the pool was never cleaned and always had leaves and sticks floating in the pool. and as for the swimming pool having a jacuzzi and a seprate pool for kids i never seen any of these unless they were hiding them. no sauna room or fitness room either.
the bistro at the apartments did not serve any decent or warm food and again very unhelpfull and ignorant staff, always expecting to be tipped even if the service is poor.
weather wasnt so good at this time of year not a lot of shops open of things to do. better off going earlier in the season i.e june, july, august.
DO NOT STAY AT THIS APARTMENT
i thought that the bulgarian people were very rude, ignorant and always wanting your money. they were nice to your face or until they got what they wanted and then would talk about you right in front of you in bulgarian.
theses people must still thinks that they are ruled by the russians. its not our fault!
overall i felt very let down by thomsom from the start due to the delayed flight, the useless reps. the lack of info from thomsom and the false description about the location and services offered in the apartments.
this was my first holiday with thomsom and it will be my last.
by all means visit bulgaria just make sure its early in the seaon and dont stay at palm courts of book with thomson
the only reason i gave the apartments 1/10 is because no 0/10 is not listed

good holiday, no thanks to the bulgarian people and palm court apartments. with some exceptions (not many) the bulgarians in sunny beach are friendly on the outside but will scam you out of money at any opportunity, at least 4 people in my group got scammed at some point. also they dont seem to believe in giving change - a good way to put a dampner on such a nice resort.
All those saying 'oh you get what you pay for' - i woulod expect someone to pay me to stay in a room where the bathroom smelled of sewage, the hob wouldnt plug in, we had no pots or pans and the bed was more like some kind of torture instrument! I dont pay 200 pounds for that!

We arrived at palm court bulgaria at 1 in the morning.Staff very rude was given keys for the apartment.Had to find it how selves again very rude people.Finally got to our room.We was given a form asking us if any damage to apartment and told to sign which i thought odd.I thought that was up to them to make sure the apartment was ok. Then if any damage to the apartment that we did not see to say we had just got there at that time in the morning.It would be down to us to pay for because at the time we had signed to say there was no damage.Never had towels changed apartment very dirty bedding did,nt feel clean at all.Again they was;nt bothered very very rude .Never again stay away if i was you

The hotel its self wernt too bad the rooms are pretty big all fitted with air con and a balcony.. i do not recomend these apartments to people who dont want too have a good solid week of getting on it..i escp dont recomend these apartments too people with kids or older couple's .. every night i was there i didnt get too sleep intill at least 5-6 in the morn due too the consistant noise.. sunny beach is a nice place but i dont think id ever go back.. food is ok its not as cheap as people make it out to be unless you drift out of the torist area..(advice) stick to the bulgarian home brand or bottled beer..smirnoff wkd you will pay more then you whould pay here...... any ways im off...oh yeah if you wanta great night go too the carabini down the beach front great people in there..and also be carefull at night down the beech the gypsies are bastads and they wont think twice of robbing you so stay in a group ...............

The holiday was awesome. but maily because of the people who i went with and the stuff we did. There was me and 12 others in my group and we went with freestlye. The freestyle bit was fine. had a fab time and would reccomend it to anyone aged 18-30 its a right laugh. but as for the apartments :s....
We got to the hotel and were asked for a deposit (its about £15/35 lev each) That wernt too bad but then we were asked to hand over our passports which sounded a bit odd. we found out they keep them behind the reception, in FULL view of everyone until you can sign them out. signing them oiut doesnt take too long but our flight arrives at like 4am so we were all shattered n wanted sleep. So we got the keys....
First impressions were good. big, spacious and clean room. Then we saw the bathroom! It was clean but the shower curtain was wrecked and eventually the cleaners took it off altogether and then the rail fell down which was fixed but then the shower stopped working altogether!! LUCKILY for us we had 3 other rooms in our group so we used their shower.
Kitchen was VERY basic. theres a hob with 2 rings, a fridge, freezer compartment and a few bits of cutlery etc. 3 of our rooms were fine. but the 4th had no pots or pans and the hob didnt actually plug in because the lead wouldnt reach. this wasnt a big deal for us as we ate out anyway.
The beds are ok but the sofa bed it very uncomfy but i managed to sleep on one for a week with little trouble.
The balcony and living area was great it had 2 tables, clairs, sofa, air con, sky tv. all you wanted really.
The pool area is good but the pool is a tad cold but the sea is really warm so that was fine.
As we spent little time in our apartment it was fine but the end result put us all on a bit of a downer. 3 of our rooms got their deposit back, but one didnt as a bed had broken. we are almost positive we did not do this as it felt no different at the start to the end but they cahrged us 140 lev deposit and an extra 100 lev for it which was not good. when they showed us what dammage "we caused" he matress was lifted and under it was crisp packets and generally alot of rubbish so it hadnt been cleaned for ages so it made us even more positive we didnt do it however we paid, and left. So make sure you note down EVERYTHING that is broken. Also our return flight was at 4am so the coach picked us up at 12.45am. we had to leave the rooms at 12pm and either leave our suitcases in the rception or pay 40 lev to leave them in a room until 6pm.
Seems like a lot of moaning when the holiday was rated 8/10 but the location is good with a decent club and 2 supermarkets next door. The beach is a 5 min walk and the restaurants are good.
The holiday was wicked and all 13 of us came back with fab memories, and we will definately consider a freestyle holiday again as they took good care of us and helped us out with the broken bed situation.
Sunny beach as a whole was good but people DO rip you off. Whatever you do, dont buy fruit off of the people who try and sell it to you on the streets as we paid for 5 lev of fruit with a 20 and got no change. Also make sure that when you pay with a 50 or whatever that they know you are paying with a 50 because some of us were told we had paid with a 20 when we had paid with a 50. But yeah definately a top class holiday and would recommend it to anyone. we would go again just maybe stay in a different hotel. :D

I've just recently got back from a fantastic week in Sunny Beach and would definately recommend the resort to anyone.
The only thing that let my holiday down was the apartments and Thompson.
We arrived in Bulgaria at about 12.30am and were piled onto a coach by an extremely rude Thompson rep who spent around 15 minutes arguing with the coach driver and slagging him off to us. To our horror the Thompson rep reeled off a short speech and disappeared off the coach leaving us in the hands of this Bulgarian coach driver - great!
We pulled up outside Palm Court Apartments and our hearts sunk. Half of the illuminated signs were out at the front and the place looked dark, run-down and desserted!! We got off the coach and had to grab our own cases without any help from the driver. The coach pulled off and the 4 of us were left outside apartments that appeared to be closed down! We spotted a small gate which appeared to be the entrance to the pool area. We walked through the gate and saw the reception - thank God!! The receptionist was extremely rude and barely spoke any English which caused numerous problems. On most of the holidays I have been on the rep walks you into the reception and ensures you are ok and checked in - not this time! We enquired about a safety deposit box for our room - however the only ones they have are behind the reception desk and there was no way we were trusting this rude Bulgarian women with our stuff!!!
We got the key and were practically left to find the room by ourselves - not easy considering the buildings weren't labelled and it was the middle of the night.
We found our room and were pleasantly surprised as it was fairly large and clean. The kitchen was nowhere near satisfactory for self-catering as there was just one hot ring for cooking and barely any cutlery. Luckily on holiday we choose to eat out every day so this wasn't an issue for us. The bathroom, although quite clean, was not very practical. The shower consisted of a shower tray and a tap with a removable shower head which could be attached to the wall. There was no shower curtain so each time we went for a shower the whole bathroom got drenched. Each time I bent down I was almost knocked out by a disgusting smell of sewage coming from the shower tray which wasn't very pleasant either!!
After a quick look around we headed out onto the balcony to check out the view. It was unusual that there were no chairs or table on the balcony so when we wanted to sit out there we had to bring the chairs from the dining table outside. We were out on the balcony talking (certainly not shouting as we were all quite tired from the flight) and a horrible German bloke appeared from a balcony across from us. He was shouting at us to be quiet as he was trying to sleep!! We were barely making any noise and were concerned about what he would think when we came back from a night out having had a few drinks and certainly making more noise!!! We were confused as we were in a Freestyle apartment supposedly full of younger people!! The guy re-appeared each night and shouted at us even when there were other people below throwing things in the pool and generally being much more noisy than ever we were!!
The only other real issue we had with the room was the beds. The bed in the main room was far from comfortable however was a total dream in comparison to the hurrendous sofa bed that 2 of us had to sleep on. The sofa bed dipped at the end and made the most awful squeaking noise the minute you moved on it. It was so uncomfortable and the fear of the thing collapsing in the night meant that we took it in turns sleeping in the main bed. There was certainly some interesting make-shift beds being made up on the floor using a lilo, towels, pillows and the seating part of the sofa!
On the first morning we got up fairly early and went to sit round the pool. Unfortunately most of the pool area is shaded and so there is only a couple of spaces to postion your sun lounger to get the sun. There were very few sun loungers round the pool and the ones that weren't taken early were cracked or broken. While the others enjoyed a dip in the pool I just wanted to sunbathe - as there were no sunloungers left I had to sit in a chair by the bar - not exactly ideal for sunbathing!
As the area round the pool wasn't that great we decided to explore the resort and head to the beach. The beach and main strip is only a short walk away from the apartments however to get across to it you do have walk across a fairly busy road which isn't ideal - especially after a couple of drinks in the evening!
Overall I had a great holiday in Sunny Beach and will definately go back but next time I'll be staying in another hotel and certainly won't be travelling with Thompson!

went 2 sunny beach end of july going in to august with 4 of my friends all 18-20. Got to the apartments. went 2 the room had 1 small bed and a pull out bed for 3 people to share, 4 coat hangers, the shower had hot water for about 2 minutes every day! so we had to shower cold!! tried to ingnore how bad the aparments were and enjoy the holiday. Until 1 night I got robbed by a bulgarian man and then another night me and 2 friends got spiked. Ended up leaving bulgaria 5 days early! sunny beach is gd however its quite unsafe for a group of girls to go 2... would MAYBE go back to sunny beach in the future, but would DEFINETLY not go back to palm court... stay away!!
oh and also the "security guard" is very violent and cant speak a word of English and the receptionists are ignorant!!

What can I say holiday from hell. Microwave did not work, shower cold, amazing view of a building site! Harsh loud wakeup day before we departed to ask us out of our rooms by 12! there computer error very unhelpful staff who just stand and watch you. Maid does not change the beds they charge you for damages you did not even cause apparently the police are very on there side over there and they get a percentage of what ever they get, no sun at pool, not very safe contructed building did not see one smoke alarm! Complete shabby little dump so glad to be home, hotel situated miles away from the beach and attractions. Please please take my advice book else where there are plently of lovely hotels at Sunny beach with out resorting to palm courts
