i went to tossa beach with a friend and we were very very wiery because of the reviews we read before we went!! just dont believe everything you read is all i can say.
first impressions were brilliant,we were very pleantly surprised at the cleanliness and friendliness.
although there was only 2of us,we had 4beds in our room which came in handy for all our clothes. the food isnt great but you wont starve, the pizzas from the bar at night are beautiful.
there isnt really alot to do as far as intertainment but i didnt find myself bored and i stayed for 4nights.
the bar drinks are so so strong, youll be drunk after afew!!!
the beach is a must go,we spent most of the day there

Good Three Star

Could not fault this hotel have been going to spain and abroad for summer hols for over forty years and this rates as probably the best three star I have stayed in. Warning this hotel and town is not a 18/30 place so for you youngsters who want to party, stop up all night, get drunk, make as much noise as possible, vomit on the stairways and then sleep all day this place is not for you so do not come here.It is a small sedate family hotel ideal for a quiet relaxing holiday. The staff are all friendly hard working and the whole place is kept amazingly clean. The food is adequate there is something for everyone and the dining area is clean and comfortable. The only reason I did not give it a ten is the air conditioning in the room was not efficient to cool the room but as it was not high season was still comfortable.

Me and my husband went to stay in the Tossa Beach hotel on the 24th of June 2008.
When we arrived in the airport in Spain, we were looking for the person that was taking us too the hotel for a couple of minutes. She was hard to find..
When we eventually found her, she took us to the bus and we were on the bus for around 45 minutes. The time flew because it was late at night (11ish) and the sights on th eway was beautiful. Nearly everybody got off at different stops before us. When it was finally our turn, we got off the bus and had to walk a short while to the hotel (2mins max)
When we got there, the man on reception was friendly. He was very fast looking through our passports and checking us in, which was ideal because we were very tired!!!
The room - clean, spacious! The shower was quite funny! You couldn't put it on too high pressure because it moved around and soaked the floor!
We had a nice view of the pool.
The food - simple! It was nearly the same thing everyday! They did try 2 change it bless! It was nice. Brekfast was full english, or fruits, toast, croissants etc!
The lunch was mostly, chips, salads, meat, etc and the same for tea!!!
The snack bar was very handy!!!!!!!
We didnt use the pool because it was full!
Sun loungers were packed around the pool and there were no way too walk around the pool!
The beach was only about a 5 mins walk! It was a really nice beach !!!
*warning* nude sunbathers!!
The sand was funny! it was like tiny pebels! he sand was so hot that you couldn;t walk on it for more than a couple of seconds !
We went 2 barcalona for a day with a trip. It was very nice! it was 40 degrees there..
It maintained around 34 - 38 degrees in tossa!
There were lots of shop close to the hotel. It was like a giant market.
There were loads of places to eat there. There were restraunts by the castle!
Overall, the holiday was good, no nightclubs close so besically its a cheap beachy holiday!

Good hotel.

This is in my opinion a good quality hotel, especially considering the low cost.
It is kept extremely clean and tidy, especially given that this was the season's last week, and hotels can start to look tired. The hotel is in two parts, Tossa Beach and Tossa Central.
Food is a bit repetitive and not too exciting, but perfectly edible and served in clean surroundings. Pretty much what I'd expect from previous experiences of all-inclusive or half board hotels.
Staff were friendly, and so were the other residents. This is not a lager-lout heaven, although drinks were served until midnight.
Overall, for a quiet week with the family, this hotel is recommended.

I can't believe the reviews saying the food was good. My friends and I described the food as slops and the dining room as the dungeon from hell. The food was made from the cheapest ingredients imaginable. The meat was mainly served in gloopy gravy, the salad consisted of tomatoes, iceberg lettuce and raw onion. The desserts were big vats of brown, yellow and white sludge or left over croissants covered in coconut and more sludge.
The rooms were fine and what you would expect for the money. The pool was small and in the shade for most of the day.
The bar had all the charm of a school dinner hall decked out for the school disco and the entertainment was embarrassing.
The staff were, however polite and friendly despite having to tolerate the mainly drunk and rude holiday makers. They all look liked they needed a day off though. We were there for 7 days and noticed it was the same staff each day, some of them working for up to 14 hours at a time.
Tossa De Mar is a a quaint village with a pretty beach and fort. Barcelona is only a 90 min bus journey away and there were many bars and restaurants offering reasonable (ish) priced food. The whole time is geared to tourists though and you are not likely to get a taste of the real Spain.
Despite any positives I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Dont listen to any of the whingers who complained about this hotel because it was great! me and my girlfriend got a late deal to tossa beach and had a great time, the staff were all friendly, the place was very clean and the food was good lots of choice and always well cooked and tasty. The rooms were cleaned often and there was no sign of any cockroaches or ants or any other nasties infact. The only little thing is that the bar closes at twelve and you get chucked out at about quater past as there are strict noise rules in the hotel. tossa de mar itself is a beautiful place and would reccomend it to anyone.

My wife and I were based in this hotel from 5th-12th September on an All Inclusive deal. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, which came as a relief as I had seen some Reviews prior to going which stated the exact opposite. The food was okay but as others have said a bit repetitive. Entertainment varied, some were very good but we had one night when there was a Karaoke and the singers were either awful or drunk.Yes, the swimming pool is small but in fairness, given the physical layout of the hotel in a built up area it is difficult to see how this could be improved. We would certainly consider coming back to this hotel. Tossa de Mar is a beautiful resort, the old town in particular is interesting with its winding streets and ample bars and cafes. Overall, we were both delighted with this holiday.

Very pleased with this holiday. Just...

Sep 2008, Miss R Arnold

Very pleased with this holiday. Just me and my partner went. We were originally meant to be staying in Tossa beach hotel but when we arrived we were told that we would be staying in there sister hotel Tossa Centre which is over the road ( We later figured out that mainly families stayed in Tossa beach while couples were allocated in Tossa Centre ). As we arrived at 12:00 just as ther bar was shutting the receptionist in both hotels made sure we had a drink before settling into our room.
Our room was supposed to be a twin room with no balcony. We HAD a balcony and out 'twin' room was 2 double beds which we thought was great! We had a Bath, Shower, Sink, Bidet & Toilet in the bathroom. And in the main room there were 2 double beds, a dressing table, bedside table, mirror & a fridge which you have to rent if you require it for 10Euro's per week. We did this to keep bottled water in.
Rooms were cleaned every morning even on the wednesday morning when we didnt even arrive untill midnight Tuesday.
Food was good with plenty of choice each day. Always Salad, Veg, & Fruit on offer. Chips everyday aswell as Pork, Beef, Chicken & Fish. Sometimes slices of meet, sometimes in a stew... Rice & Pasta was also available daily. They also had a kids buffett which was mainly... Nuggets, chips, sausages etc although they could have the adults selection if they liked. We only had breakfast once in the week but on offer that day were... Bread ( Toasting machines were there) Bacon, Sausage, Egg, Beans, Tomato's & Cereal.
Swimming pools in both hotels were very small and most people just let the kids use them but you dont mind as the beach is a 2min walk from the hotel.
Not a very large town, we explored it in a day but there is a bus service that takes you into the bigger town of lloret de mar every 20mins, where you can find Mcdonalds, Burger king etc & plenty of nightlife. It cost 2 of us 5.60Euro's for return tickets.
There a few english bars which serve Carling, Fosters & Stella. Card for these can be found in the hotel reception.
The only down side to this holiday is that the beach isnt sandy... Its like fine gravel, Crocs are a no no on the beach as the stones get in them! And its agony to walk on when you get out of the sea! We were told the beach was sandy in LLoret de mar although it wasnt when we got there! Sun loungers can be Rented for the day for 9Euro's for 2 and an extra 4.50 if u want an unbrella with it.
The glass bottom boat trip was fun but drops you at another ( Gravel ) beach, and you can catch any boat back throughout the day... We got the next one straight back as we didnt feel like sunbathing although there is a bar there also.
All in all a great holiday. Would definatley recomend for families & older couples. For people looking for a drinking holiday or the night life etc then i would reccomend staying in the more lively LLoret de mar.

our party of eight (ages between 15 & 62) have just returned from a great week at tossa beach hotel. rooms small but clean, food a bit repetetive, but could always find something we liked. hardly ever had to queue for drinks, but bar staff were a bit sullen (could do with a smile transplant), pool area small but could always get a seat or sunbed.hardly ever any noise after midnight. a short walk to beach which is shingle, and a lovely walk up to the fort, well worth the walk, the views are stunning. tossa de mar is a great little town, with some nice shops, we would certainly visit again.

I have just come back from this hotel and I thought it was brilliant

Rooms, Food, Drink,Staff - all 10/10
The only problem was the size of the pool and the night time entertainment but you can just go to the beach in the day and there is lots a lovely places to go at night
Make sure you go up to the castle as this was nice
Also I like the fact that no-one bothers you to go and eat or drink in their restraunts so you can walk aroung in peace.
I really enjoyed myslef and I would go again

Just got back from a one week break...
6 / 10
Aug 2008, Ms Elaine Weaver

Just got back from a one week break at Tossa Beach Hotel, Tossa De Mar. Overall it's ok, food was good, hotel was spotlessly clean. Staff friendly.
Just a couple of issues, we booked a family room for two adults and two children and the room had a double bed with two extra single beds crammed in so very little space. Beware of the shower too, every time you have one it floods the bathroom, we spoke to other guests and they had the same problem!
The swimming pool was heavily chemicalized so if you wish to swim you will need goggles or risk red sore eyes. It turned the white stripes on my daughters smimsuit a yacky cream colour. Also because of it's position it is completely in the shade until lunch time but you can chase the sun round the pool till about 7pm. There is a hot tub that would suit antartic penguins.
Tossa De Mar is a lovely location with a shingle beach, you will need beach shoes. There are various boat trips from the beach, and would recommend the glass bottom boats.
Everywhere is very clean. Restaurants are mainly Spanish, no English breakfasts. Shopkeepers are very polite and keen to help.
We would definately go back to Tossa De Mar but we probally wouldn't go back to Tossa Beach Hotel.

Please please please IGNORE any...

Aug 2008, Miss A Rookwood

Please please please IGNORE any postive comment regrding this hotel.. the food is disgusting, i ate twice for a duration of a week, the food is repetitive and the deserts are no less than gunge. breakfast is a joke the eggs are not eggs just scraps no presentation whatso ever. The pool area is just pathetic, tiny, compleely shaded and full of lager louts. I went with my 3 children and was devestated... the kids club consisited of 5 mins dancing in the hall which is like a Working mans club and then watching dvds in the evening... THATS IT... no entertainment or programme for any teenagers NOTHING and as for the adults enterainment well.... KARAOKE GREAT NOT...
THE ONLY ADVANTAGE IS THAT THE BEACH IS 2 MINS AWAY AND THE AREA ITSELF IS NICE BAR THAT DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL...
