Oh My God!
from Manda78
My Mum and I have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Alp Hotel and were really disappointed by it. The staff did try their best but the hotel was definitely not 3*. The rooms are all covered in green carpet which created a rather nasty smell all through the hotel, only some of the lightfittings worked, there were sparks coming out of the plug every time you tried to use it and the shower wouldn't turn off once you turned it on and had to be fixed several times. We did move rooms on our 3rd day and the one we got was a little better but still had the same problems with lightfittings, plugs etc. Both my Mum and I were sick during our stay as were many other guests we spoke to in the hotel. We were told by the staff and the rep that it must be our fault for being in the sun too much but as experienced travellers this is something we have never had problems with before. We were staying half board unfortunately and had to buy most of our meals out in Kusadasi (which was a lovely resort and had some great places) as the food in the hotel was inedible. The breakfast was a Turkish breakfast which consisted of tomato, cucumber, olives, bread, cheese and sometimes boiled eggs and cornflakes. For the evening meal there was no choice given and you were just presented with whatever they were serving that day. When we asked what the food was we were told every time that it was a "surprise!" The portions were tiny and the food was often luke warm at best. Many evenings we didn't eat any of it. We did speak to the manager about the food along with other guests and he did try and be helpful but basically told us that we were lucky as the hotel next door didn't get boiled eggs for their breakfast! and offered some scrambled eggs for breakfast, this lasted for one day before we returned to the usual boiled variety. He said that toast and other hot food was not possible as he had no way of keeping it warm and that the budget he was given by the owner was approx 1 Turkish Lira per head for the food! The hotel did make other meals if you paid extra money for them and even charged 3 Turkish Lira for some hot water to make a drink with outside of breakfast time and 5 Turkish Lira to ring the rep to come to the hotel which she was supposed to do everyday anyway! The pool area wasn't too bad for sunbathing and there is a bar open up there all day for drinks and snacks. The majority of the staff were helpful and really did try hard. The manager did work very hard in such difficult circumstances and the problems at the hotel were not to be honest his fault. Kusadasi was a lovely resport and the regular bus service from outside the hotel was great and gave us easy access to the centre and the lovely beaches. Fortunately this meant we could spend as much time as possible away from the hotel! I would not recommend the hotel to other travellers although Kusadasi itself and the Turkish people generally were very nice.
Basil where are you

My husband and I spent one week at Alp Hotel yes it was like faulty towers, We expected Basil to come flying down the stairs. This hotel is in desperate need of major refurbishment the bedrooms are tiny they are filthy smell, the springs in the beds just about leave an indent in your back and are very uncomfortable so if you suffer back problems before you go god help you when you spend some time in these beds. Breakfast is Turkish or Turkish breakfast along with very watered down diluting orange. Your evening meal is a 3 coarse no choice take it or leave served up on a side plate , The cheapest food they can make some days it was served up like a dogs dinner and talking about these lovely dogs NOT they bark all day and night so dont expect to sleep in harmony at the Alp please take your ear plugs .Sorry folks if you have booked this hotel we found out the hard way dont get me wrong Kusadasi is a lovely lovely place just choose a diffrent hotel as this is more like a run down hostel than an allegedly 3 star hotel
Bad hotel? dont say that till you stay here!

Where do I start.... Well the pool in some pictures is outside the dining area, this is now a building site, they are building a main road that will come right up to the side/rear wall of the hotel. This is only half finished and is very dusty, even the slightest breeze fills the air with dust. This means the dining area/balcony is next to a dust bowl at the moment but will soon be on the side of a main 4 lane road, enjoy your meal!!! The pool shown on the roof, well in the pictures it looks ok I guess, but I cannot imagine how they got the pool to look so big? I can say honestly that if 6 people were in the pool at the same time it would be full. It’s tiny. Also on the roof is a bar, one side facing the hotels on the other side of the existing road. It’s not bad but only has a waist height railing around so be careful if you have kids! The other side does have a good high glass screen and if you are about 11' 12" you may ever see the sea past the 8 story hotel between the alp hotel and the beach. Speaking of the beach..... NO WHERE in the advertising did they mention why the called this hotel "Alp Hotel", please don’t go here if you are old, have walking problems of have young children, not unless you want to use a taxi both to and from the hotel every day.... There is a hill to get to the hotel that must be no less than 1 in 6... That's very steep. Even the taxi's and the local bus struggle to get up it and have to stop and select 1st gear before they try. The hotel rooms also are very small and not like in the pictures. The maid service is every day. They do get cleaned and vacuumed every day but towels etc are changed only every other day, but when its mid 30 degrees 2 showers a day are a must. TAKE YOUR OWN towels too as there's are quite small. I notice a lot of people have said about the barking dog's... and all I can say is that if you live within 30meters of a dog rescue centre or battersey dogs home you will be fine, otherwise either book somewhere else or take earplugs. I cannot say it all was bad though, the staff do their best and are very helpful. It’s not their fault that the holiday companies seem to have the best cameras to take the advertising pic's (i.e they make the rooms and pool look twice the size they really are & they seem to miss out little things like hills and other hotels next to it) I wish I knew about this site before I went away, I would have thought twice or maybe more times and then gone to a different hotel... I will go back to Turkey, and possibly back to Kusadasi, but defiantly not back to the Alp Hotel.
Nightmare
from RobandLynne
My partner and i have just returned from Kusadasi, stayed at the alp. We saw this hotel on a website and it looked nice, please don't be fooled, the picture is what it used to look like, for example the pool is on the roof, not at the back as the picture shows and there is enough room for 2 people if your lucky! The room we stayed in was awful, lights did not work, dressing table hanging off wall, the bathroom was a disgrace (filthy), shower sprayed water everywhere, we had to tie a plastic bag round it! Drainage was very slow, floor flooded every time we had shower. The staff, although friendly, were hopeless! The cleaners just sat about chatting all day and when they did do something it certainly wasn't cleaning the rooms. Our bed was changed once in 2 weeks, towels twice. We even put dirty towels on floor to be changed (hint hint) when we returned they had put the same dirty towels back on the bed, as if they had been changed. Reception staff did not speak English, well not to us anyway! They all of a sudden forgot English when we complained about something! Dogs across the street bark constantly, this did not bother us that much, but if your looking for peace and quiet this hotel is no no. There is also a very very steep hill from the sea front to hotel! Overall we had a great time in Kusadasi and will definatley go back, just not to The Alp Hotel. This hotel is rated 3 star, nowhere near it, more like 1star.
House Of Horrors

If going to Alp Hotel in Kusadasi take all cleaning materials with you!! Also take screwdriver to repair e.g. handle off door, shower off wall etc. Also take ear plugs to shut out noise of dogs barking all night - yes, all night non-stop (don't know why they haven't got kennel cough). Shower tray too shallow and water does not drain away - result: floor flooded. This might explain why cleaners do not mop toilet floor. Towels changed only twice in two weeks and when clean towels brought they were as soiled as the dirty ones just removed! Sheet and cover for double bed were obviously intended for single bed. No drinking glass in bathroom, no chair in bedroom, shaving light did not light nor did light at dressing table. In other words a total didaster. Only saving grace in Alp was constant hot water and staff were very helpful and friendly, especially manager Isa. We will not be back to the Alp hotel. Three disgruntled Kusadasi regulars.
No sleep and Not clean
from monkeechops
Having read a bad review of this hotel prior to us flying out there, we went with a little more optimism. However, our realisations were soon realised when the dogs across the road were non-stop barking from 8pm until to 8am. Okay, so maybe I am exaggerating...they did stop for about 2 minutes before continuing to bark the rest of the time..this is NOT a lie..trust me! We expected our room to have the bedding changed twice weekly and towels too. However, after 4 days they had not been changed and after enquiring at reception, we were told they had been changed two days before according to their checklists for each room. Funny really, as the dirty marks and creases on the sheets were still there before and after their 'supposed' change. Anyway, the manager sent tweedle dum and tweedle dee up to our room and they were soon changed. Tweedle dum and Tweedle dee by the way are the two young men who clean the rooms...all 50 of them in a day. Its obvious they do not clean them as they should do as they clean each room together and spend the rest of the time sat on the 2nd floor chatting and learing at guests as they walk by. Our bathroom did not even get a wipe down all week, especially the sink. Our bed had to be the most uncomfortable in the world, again with no exaggeration that each of the springs felt like a fist being pushed into our bodies at night. Breakfast isn't worth the effort in waking up, but having said that you are already awake with the barking dogs. Whoever you are reading this, please note our review and others before booking this place, but having said that you only get what you pay for and we only wish we had gone elsewhere. Another very annoying thing was that when you ordered a drink or food at the bar or pool bar and paid for it, you then had to wait a good 5 minutes for the staff to disappear to get your change for you as they do not carry money at the bars...and an annoying half an hour during the first couple of days was spent waiting around and eventually we went elsewhere for drinks and snacks because of this. Another family at our hotel loved the place that much, they are going back next year. Perhaps they are used to living like this, as nobody else in the hotel we met enjoyed their stay. Good luck, take your ear plugs and God be with you. P.S. the only good point is that the local buses stop right outside the hotel every 5 minutes to go into the centre of kusadasi for approx 50p ( 1.25 Turkish Lira ) one way each.
Hotel Faulty Towers
from Craigadoes
My partner and I had our first (and last) holiday to Turkey this year. The transfer from the airport never appeared so we had to pay €70 to get to this hotel. Typically the Turks were only interested in ripping off as many people as they could and refused my three requests for a receipt in order to claim back the money. The hotel was a major disappointment. We had booked a double room but the manager decided to put us in a twin without informing us. In summary: 1. Pool area is lovely and the best part of the hotel. 2. The staff are friendly and do their best. 3. Tthe rooms are small, basic and clean but the green carpet is horrible, the hotel is dark and is in serious need of a revamp (dodgy 70's style mirrors etc) and the beds are very uncomfortable. 4. The view is horrific (buildings, a dirt track or barren mountains depending if you are at the back or front of the hotel) the area is dark and intimidating and the dog constantly barking across the street was driving us both insane. 5. The food was average but spiders and flies were crawling across the table. 6. The walk up to the hotel was a very steep slope that was extremely hard to negotiate. We are both young, healthy men and found it exhausting by the time we got to the top of the slope. Often having to stop for breath. Overall, very disappointing. The resort is beautiful but the harrassment from the Turks, often physically grabbing arms to come into a bar or shop far outweighed anything positive. Most people on our flight to belfast agreed with few, if any, venturing far from their hotels due to the aggressive nature of the Turks trying to flog their wares!
First in turkey
from firstinturkey
Booked with www.bookableholidays.co.uk The agent never warned us about the food, air conditioning etc I would not recommend the hotel. The food was appalling. I stayed there with my family of four including 2 children. The food was terrible. We had turkish breakfast everyday. To fill the table at breakfast, they will display sliced tomatoes, cucumber, black and green olives, sliced bread, jam, orange squash and thats it. At times cheap cornflakes which the kids refused. Dinner time, it was just aubergine in different varieties and mix. Tuna salad everyday. The main course was turkish meat balls, kebab (diced meat) not the real kebab you know in uk. And if you like water melon, pretty much the same everyday as dessert. Supposed to be a 3 star hotel, i would give it a 1 star. I would like to add that the staff was really nice.
I wouldn't bother
from Lindyed
Well, what can I say. We visited Kusadassi in May and had rain for 1 week ! The Alp was at the top of a VERY steep hill which must be travelled to get into town and onto the front. We are in our 20's and the walk was bad, we even got chased one night ! Overall the hotel wasn't dirty but wasn't very nice either to be honest. It was dark and really quite dismall. The staff where very friendly but the food and tea in the mornings - I wouldn't dare touch. The green carpets are really didgy too. I refused to stay longer than a night and upgraded to Hotel Ozcha which was next door, that was a lovely hotel but the location spoils it. I wouldn't recommend Kusadassi either. We were constantly harrassed by restaurant owners and bars and were ripped off on several occasions. The best part of the trip was coming home !
Absolutely blissfully quiet
from PINKCREEPERS
Myself, my husband and daughter stayed here for a fortnight . It is a very quiet hotel and the hotel manager, Isa, is an absolute gem. and cannot do enough for you. We had a very relaxing time and had the pool to ourselves for most of the holiday, but that is due to the drop in tourism not the area or hotel. Food in the hotel was very good but we can recommend the KONYALI, it is at the bottom of the bank on your left when you head to the centre of town and the marina.(a 5 minute walk) A very clean, basic hotel with wonderful staff, rooms cleaned daily and linen/towels every 2-3 days. No problems with creepy crawlies the only noise we heard was from the mosque and a dog up the street, but it was nothing to lose sleep over. If you want a cheap and cheerful, relaxing holiday, pick the Alp. We are going back there next year so hope to see you there xx
Considering I paid less than £180 for a week, I wasn't expecting much but was shocked when I got to the Alp. Not only was it clean, but had an excellent albeit small rooftop pool with amazing views over the town and harbour. Also, the tv in the room was a good surprise.... more
