Loved the spa
from LizzyB_8
We have just returned from a week at the Green Park and had a fabulous holiday. The hotel was spotlessly clean, right on the beach, and we really enjoyed our time there. The pool area's were cleaned every morning about 7am but quite a few people were up early putting their towels down reserving "their" loungers but that happens everywhere. When you arrive at the hotel you are given a card each which entitles you to have clean beach towels every day however you will need to hand the cards back into reception on departure or you will have to pay 15 dinars ( £6.50) each. Otherwise this is a free service. The safety deposit box is also free.. You are advised not to change up too much money as Tunisia being a closed country you cannot bring any unused currency home with you. You can change money at the hotel reception and the rate is set throughout Tunisia whether you cash at bank or reception. To change money back into £ you can only do so at the airport who charge extremely high rate to change back The restaurant has plenty variety and their is also a BBQ area set nearer the beach, Soft drinks, Coke, Fanta, Coffee all from machine so is quite good. Everyone who works at the hotel however expects a tip but the service was excellent so we would tip anyway. We also booked a three day spa package (special birthdays coming up so we treated ourselves) The days can be taken whenever you like and cost us £100 approx each for the 3 days. It included Hamman bath, body scrub, menthol mud pack, and full body massage (day one) ham.bath, mud pack, private jacuzzi with seaweed oil and full body massage for the other two days. Would really recommend the Wellness Centre. The only downside was we went with Thomson, the rep informed us that they have merged with First Choice and unless we paid the £15 each "sit together" supplement on the way back, if we were on a "First Choice" flight we would not be guaranteed to sit together as " First Choice" passengers come first. We were not impressed as it made Thomson passengers feel they had to pay up or shut up. However we did not pay it and we sat together. Would definitely recommend this hotel, good location, good food , short walk to the harbour. Well done Green Park. Alcohol not very strong, but ok. Entertainment team consists of three lads, who were really lively, full of fun who obviously love their jobs. However the "shows" were not very good The lads did their dancing which was really good but the rest was "poor" but then it did not spoil our holiday. Not many children a couple at the most, mostly adults and lots of German, French and people from Netherlands Have a good time
Lovely hotel, friendly and spotlessly clean

Last year I stayed at the Bellevue Park further up the road (another Riu hotel) and didnt expect it to live up to that standard. We arrived during the evening and check in procedure was fast and efficient. There seems to be two different parts to the hotel, one of which has been more recently refurbished than the other. Myself and my friend were in an "older" room, but there was nothing wrong with it, just a bit on the "tired" side. However the room was large with aircon and a lovely view over the golf course. We had clean towels and bedsheets every single day with little tokens being left each day, like flowers, sweets etc. Everyone in the hotel really friendly and never had to queue at the bar. I think everyone was after tips at the end of the holiday, but we didnt feel pressurised in any way to tip. The two pools were lovely, one with grass surround and one with tiles.... daytime activities took place in the latter. The beach was lovely too. The animation team was very small (never more than three of them at any one time), but they worked their socks off. The evening entertainment was only for one hour each evening from 10.00pm til 11.00pm. A plus for this hotel was its closeness to the marina (about a 10 min walk), so if you want to venture out of the hotel, there are lots of shops and restaurants there. We were lucky that we met a great crowd of other holiday makers and that absolutely made the holiday. We have talked of a "reunion" next year. I would stay here again, but as I said for that extra luxury you would need to go to the Bellevue Park.
looks lovely but

Only just returned from this hotel two days ago. I travelled with my partner and three year old son. In the brochure hotel looks fantastic kids club, entertainment. The reality is completely different other than a kids pool there was nothing for my son. Some staff were rude and ignorant take your drink order then just walk away. If you have kids steer CLEAR. we where seated for our evening meal at 8.30 we are not picky eaters but other than pizza not alot to eat asked to change sitting but where informed first sitting was full, try telling a three year old he cant eat when hes hungry. overall dont recommend this hotel unleess you are german, french, dutch or russian or OAPS. Only good point was how clean our room was kept, maid who looked after us was lovely really friendly.
great place

- General information We (young couple) stayed one week in May 2008 (21-28). About 80% of people staying at the hotel were above 60 years of age, mostly german, french, dutch, russians. I would give it a 3+ stars rating. - Location The hotel is located on the beach at about 500m from Port El Kantaoui where most of the shops and restaurants are located. Port El Kantaoui is about 20km from Monastir. The hotel looks exactly as in the photos posted on the official site. - Room The room was quite big (about 15sqm for the sleeping area), with a large balcony. It had a separated bathroom, in the sense that the WC and bidet were in a physically separated space (different doors) than the bath tub and the sink. The ventilation of these spaces could be improved though. TV channels were mostly in german (ex: RTL, SAT1) and french (ex: M6, TF1). The only English channel was CNN Intl. Room was cleaned daily. - Food The food was abundant and diverse for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Anyone could find something to eat. Some dishes were prepared in front of you (usually the main course) and some even at your request (like pasta, some hot deserts). There's also a "late breakfast" between 10 - 12 near one of the pools. For dinner, long trousers and shirts with (long or short) sleeves are required for men. Also, dinner is in two servings, one from 18:30 - 20:00 and the second 20:30 - 22:00. - Languages Could talk in English or French to the personnel, who were also speaking German. - Shopping There are some shops in the hotel, but of course they are more expensive than those in the Port, which is at 500m distance. We strongly recommend the Big Market supermarket from the port area, which has fixed prices. We found this to be cheaper than other places, even from Sousse, such as the Soula Center. If you go to bargain stores, generally the target price should be about 1/3 from the first price they tell you. To avoid hassle, only show interest for products which you are really interested in, otherwise the salespersons will keep on proposing various prices and will not let you go that easily. - Activities There's a fixed timetable with free activities which include among others: volleyball, aqua gym, shuffleboard, archery, water polo etc. Tennis courts are also available, reservations being made at the reception. Children have a separate program. - Beach The hotel is on the beach. The beach has umbrellas and sun loungers. Beach towels are free and you can exchange them as often as you want.
Good hotel, but Young People, Don't Go There
from Rohalt
We are just back with my husband from a week of stay in RIU. We were unlucky with the weather therefore we had time to experience all that this hotel has to suggest. I will not describe food, friendly people etc, that was all up to the level of the 4 star hotel. What was disappointing is that if you are unlucky with the weather, there is absolutely nothing to do. The indoor swimming pool was terrible, small and a bit stinking. The entertainment and all activties were for the major audience - for the people enjoing their retirement. We booked some outside excursions and tried to visit things, but every evening we were wandering around not knowing what to do or whome to talk to to have some common interests. At the end we met few young couples lost as we were and yet had a very pleasant vacation. Mostly because we always try to make the best of what we have. But I will never come back there unless I am 60 years old or a mom travelling with 3-4 kids and my mother in law. For the latter, this should be a perfect place to be. P.S, There is also a wellness centrum with european prices..... Young couple from Belgium
Shame about the weather

Just spent a pleasant week at the hotel which was only spoilt due to the unusual spell of cool weather. Food was excellent with a good choice. Staff were very polite and the rooms clean a tidy. Stayed at several all inclusive hotels and this one was the first that allowed guests to serve themselves with drinks both around the pool and during meals. This was not to say you could not use the excellent waiter service. Situated on a golf course it is an excellent choice if you play and I would highly recommend having played both courses. If I had one complaint apart from the weather it was the pool which I think was filled with water from a Arctic glacier (freezing). Although rated a 4 star I would give it a good 3 star. Would consider returning in the future.

from lilic
The hotel is very clean, the enternaiment is good and the food is great . The main restaurant offers superb choice of food from salads, soups etc. theres something for everyone. The weather was exellent all the week around 31°C and this was at the start of September. The staff was extremely attentive and helpful at all times. The swimming pools were fantastic and you could usually get a sunbed around the pool but if not, the beach was cooler anyway and always plenty of sunbeds down there. Towels are provided and you can charge them as often as you wish during the day. Me and my husband had a superb time- all the staff are fantastic especially the waiters in the lobby bar.I recomanding this hotel to everyone.
Th worst vacations ever
from rfmoura
I've stayed at Riu Green Park for a week and everything went bad: - the staff wasn't friendly and no one speaked english very well. - when I arrived there weren't any rooms available so we stayed in a tiny room, that wasn't even clean. In the middle of the night we were told to move to a better room. It was our fist night and we could sleep well... - at diner, we found in our food bugs... it's no need to say more. - we enrolled in a trip at the hotel and then they forgot to pick us up - at check out they tried to charge us phone calls that we didn't made. I do not recommend this hotel at all.
Good one

We've spent 2 weeks in this hotel. Although the travel agency was not able to gve any reference about this hotel, once we arrived there we thought it was one of the best choices we could have. The hotel is a 4 star rating; the most important hing is that the 4 start are international ones, not local, as the hotel is part of the hotel chain of RIU. The rooms are very nice, large, the bath is very clean. The best food ever had all over the world where i've traveled so far was found at this hotel. A lot of choices, a large diversity, very good quality of the food. You could find both international dishes, but also local ones. The hotl was located on the sandy beach; umbrellas and chaiselongues where free of charge - yet we gave some dinars to the beach guy for keeping us the same one avery day. The worst part of it was about the sea - during that period there were a lot of rains, and in the morning the water was not very clean and there were also a lot of medusa in the water. If you had the badluck to be betan by a medusa it took about 3 days to recover... There are available about 3 outdoor pools and one in the interior. The entertainment was above average. The hotel is situated at 5 minutes walking for El-Kantaoui (a very nice port) and about 12 kms from Sousse ( i would not recommend to go to Sousse; except Medina - the commercial area - there is nothing you could visit). I would recommend this hotel to anyone else.
I returned from only two days ago and am seriously suffering from post-holiday blues! Every member of staff was friendly and helpful, going out of their way to keep you happy. The Animation team were fantastic and I have become friendly with all of them. Evening... more
