Stayed at Sunrise Royal in Makadi Bay for 14 nights, this was a supurb holiday 6 adults went, from the time of arrival the staff were fantastic, freindly, and above all very polite.
Our rooms were very spacious and clean and we had a see view on the ground floor which was great, there are 3 resturants which you had to book on the morning of the day before you wish to go, which was a little disorganised but nothing to complain about, the food in these restuarants was fabulous especially the Asian, this is great we went there twice.
Entertainment was great in the amphithearte everybody was joining in not just for the kids. Never tried the Disco as we were a little old for that but pleanty of young ones going in. All pools extremley clean and well maintained we spent most of our holiday round the pool for Adults only, which was brilliant.
Try the boat trip with Gehad he walks up and down touting for business we thought it would be a rip off but the day was fantastic as we had a boat all to ourselves with food and plentty to drink the crew were ace, this was a full day out and they even taught a couple of use how to snorkel as we had never done it before, the reefs were out of this world.
A couple of us did get pharos revenge but this was soon sorted by the chemist & doctor, and didn't spoil our holiday, the reps will warn you and the chemist who speak english is only in the next hotel.
The main resturant was very clean and food good with pleanty of choice.
We have just booked to go again next year and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel anyone wanting a fab holiday.

Just got back from the Sunrise. Booked via Thomas Cook. The complex is very clean and tidy but the complex is only 3 years old. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Made to feel welcome as soon as we got the the resort. You have all of the usual things people trying to sell you trips and take your photo and temp tattoos! There are people wandering around the pool area trying to sell you boat trips they work for the same company Thomas Cook use which i think is Blue Sky Travel. I assumed that they would be a rip off but i can honestly say they are cheaper and more informative. So here these guys out, i can highly recommend the trip to Paradise Island and the Water Park trip in Hurghada. Hurgada itself is pretty boring you will find your Mc Donalds and KFC etc!
The Room we had was a double, very spacious, efficient air con and cleaned/maintained to a high standard. Mini bar consists of 6 bottles of coke etc refilled weekly.
We went to all the a La carte restaurants which where an asian, italian, Mediterranean. All very nice! Would highly recommend all of them. Unlimited so you can go every night if you want to! you just have to book in advance.
The main buffet restaurant is spacious and clean. Good variety of food fresh fruits, salads etc. My only gripe and its a biggy! is the Fooking Flies!!! There are loads of them and no fly catchers or any kind of deterrents! So had to be cautious about eating uncovered food cos you can guarantee it would be covered in flies!! Breakfast is nice, omlettes, cereal, fresh fruit etc. Lunch we had at the pool bar which was hot dogs, freshly made pizzas and chicken etc and dinner was koftas, potato, meat etc all nice but gets a little boring after 2 weeks!
Not sure if it was the food or the water (which we didnt have or ice etc only bottled) but every english person you speak to was or had been ill with a bad belly, stomach cramps etc! Took a trip to the hotel doctor who charged me and the mrs 30 euros for a 3 day course of medicine which was very efficient. So expect to get a bad belly or take lots of imodium, buscopan etc! I wouldnt worry about it but just expect it!!
Internet access is available but very expensive, shop selling the usual again very expensive at £10 for a bottle of sun lotion!!
All in all i will go back to Egypt or maybe a Sunrise Resort, guaranteed sun, and good value for money!!

Got back yesterday with my husband and children (12 &14) FANTASTIC time had by all.
Our third time to Egypt but this hotel certainly seemed to tick all the boxes. Staff- very friendly. Pool- huge and not too busy. Rooms- very big, spotless (family room) Food- main dinning room- good, the three a la cartes amazing, Best food we have ever eaten on holiday!!! (always gone to 5*) Loads of air-con. Good disco, All on one level so easy to keep an eye on the kids.
The negative points were : Getting a little bit shabby round the edges. Swim up bar the marble is being held together with resin. The gardens all look like they need a good water ( grass dry and hardly any flowers) And when we were there they changed over the sunbeds from big wooden loungers with nice mattresses to white plastic ones with stretched "plastic" canvas. last dig ... The entertainment was the same both weeks so got a bit boring. Im being really picky........... none of these points dampened our holiday. It has a wonderful atmosphere........ We may even book again for next year ( NEVER felt that I would like to return to any other hotel !!)

The resort is lovely as are the staff and evening entertainment. The only fault I found is that there are very very few English therefore we are not catered for. The ranking is Germans, Russians, Pollish then English. the A La Carte restaurants are fabulous especially the Asian (don't forget to order the prawn crackers).
The beach and sea are great, the sea water is actually warmer than the pool water. The pizza's, chips and burgers at lunch are made fresh to order and are equally tasty.
The trip to paradise Island was enjoyable but they only serve coke & water as liquid refreshment, the food served consisted of brown rice, pasta, creamed potatoes, kofta and spinach which was nice. Mohammad the guide is great but watch out for the water trick with the bottle tops.
MacDonalds in Hurgarda centre is clean and the portions are American so they're BIG and it's delicious.
We found an Irish Bar run by a family from Belfast down one of the side streets, I would definately recommend it. If you find it please say Hello to Ken the owner for me. Thd Sahara Gold beer there is the best.

I cannot believe the previous review!!!!
Just got back yesterday from a fabulous 2 week holiday here and I cant wait to go back!!
Hotel was spotless and the staff were superb, nothing was too much trouble for them.
The rooms were spacious and clean and the air conditioning was a godsend. The food in the buffet restaurant was good, not brilliant , but then again...what buffet is??
The a-la-carte restaurants however, were brilliant.
The asian, italian and mediterrainian were all superb, lovely food and fab service.
The beach is great, soft white sand and loads of sunbeds. The water is LOVELY, warm and you can just lie back and float as it is so salty!
The bars were great, the drink is fine although I would steer clear of the gin!!!
All in all this hotel is fantastic and we were gutted to be leaving and cant wait to go back.

this hotel needs to be brought upto standard
it is definatly not a 5 star hotel as we were led to believe it is dirty dark and needs a complete refurbishment
the food is covered in flies not all but most it is not under glass and open to all the flies in the restraunts i was ill after 1 day there and ended up in a high dependancy clinic on a drip for 24 hours due to food poision though they would not admit it as the clinic was employed by sunrise the hotel grounds are lovely but that is all this hotel has going for it

this was our first visit to Egypt, and the drive into the hotel, i thought we were going to a building site , but on arrival at the hotel, we were very impressed, everywhere was lovely and clean and tidy. as others have said you are met with a nice refreshing drink while you check in, then taken to your room, bags to be brought latter ( for us a few min ) the room was very nice and although our balcony was small with no real view , it was not overlooked at all and was very nice. the hair dryer was in the bathroom and in front of a good mirror, which is not always the case in hotels. there are no tea making facilities in your room, so if like us you like a nice cuppa take your kettle
the staff were very friendly and the food good & plenty of choice, the complex is quite big so you never felt you were on top of other guests, and although this is a family hotel the children were not a problem, we had gone daughter /son in law and our 11 month old grandson , otherwise we would not have book this type of hotel. which would have been a shame, as it was great and we are planing to go back on our own.
the only hard sell we got was from the gym, they did not stop until we had booked, which for us was not a problem , as we wanted to have a massage
a very restfull holiday even with a baby >

This was our first visit to Egypt and our first taste to all inclusive, what a way to start.
On arrival at the hotel we were taken to reception and given a refreshing drink, and then whisked away to our room followed by the porter with our luggage.
The room was very spacious with a very large bed 2 comfy chairs TV and a mini fridge with soft drinks and bottled water the latter re-stocked everyday.
The hotel grounds were very well laid out and the pool surrounds were constantly being cleaned the private beach was also very clean in fact, I don’t think I saw a piece of litter around the hotel during our stay.
The restaurants were very nice and the choice of food was excellent, the waiters and staff were very very friendly and always at hand to help in anyway.
Please be aware of visits into Hurghada it is an experience because of all the harassment you get from shop owners, not a visit we would make again.
But the hotel was I think outstanding and we will certainly go again.

This hotel was fantastic. All the staff were friendly, they couldnt do enough for you. Food was great in the hotel restaurant, and was great in the italian too. Didnt watch the entertainment, but heard from other guests that it was ok. Even though we didnt take our children, there was plenty to entertain the little ones. You do get hassled a little from the shops within the hotel, but if you are insistent that you dont want anything, they accept it.
The rooms are well air-conditioned,and there is even a channel on the tv that shows movies all day and night,in english (with subtitles). Cleaners are all friendly, and your room gets cleaned every day. The staff in the Victoria Bar are excellent!! Mohamed (who looks like Tom Hanks), Reda and especially Hossam, he is a very funny guy.
We was told that staff will probably expect tips, but we feel that is mis-leading. None of the staff "hang around" for tips. We found that when you do tip the staff, they are extremely grateful, and they are happy for a couple of quid!
We enjoyed ourselves that much that we are going back next year with the kids!! This hotel is worth evey penny you spend to get there
