well we have been here 4 times and just returned and they welcome you so well like family, the pool is wonderful, a bit deep but never mind the rooms are cleaned every day with clean sheets and towels. breakfast was a mixture of breads meats and cheese, eggs and cereals and yogurt and fruit and oodles of coffee served by ahtena and stavrola. lunch if needed by the pool by katerina, ever so helpful all the time, try the pink flamingo near the supermarket and george always on hand to recommend somthing greek and very delicious also recomended is the hemingway bar for fab sunsets and great music.

Me and my husband just came back from Crete. We stayed in Maritimo beach hotel which we were very happy with. Food is great, rooms are clean, two swimming pools are clean and great fun. The only problem we had was that there is no a nice beach close to the hotel. This was big disappointment because we love sea and beach. Luckily there is many car hires around so we hired small Fiat Punto for about 160 euro for 6 days. I recommend beach close to the archaeological site of Malia(Palace of Malia). It is very pretty and quiet beach with lifeguard. Two sun beds and umbrella costs 6 euro. I also recommend the Cretan night offered by your rap.
Over all great holiday.

A beautiful hotel to watch the sun rise & set

May 2011, Chesterboy

Relaxing surroundings, clean rooms and friendly helpful staff(especially waitress Athena). Lovely deep infinity pool which was cleaned daily. Tasty and varied food. Breakfast perhaps more geared up towards the German guests, but we had muesli with delicious yoghurt & honey and fresh oranges. It was great to have the opportunity to watch the sun rise from behind the mountains & to see it set over the sea. We slept with our doors open so we could hear the waves crashing onto the rocks.

My husband and i have just returned from a week in this hotel, we had a lovely relaxing holiday even though the weather was changeable. The hotel is very clean, bedrooms are basic but again can't fault the housekeeping. We had a problem with no hot water a couple of times and each time we reported it it was sorted straight away, but the shower head was broken and I reported this but nothing was done about it. We were half board and to be honest some nights the food reminded me of school dinners! They refried the chips from the night before and mushrooms a la creme was definitely mushroom soup!! and the apple juice was watered down! We ate out twice in Sissi where there are pleanty of good tavernas. Most of the staff were pleasant and helpful but a couple of the waitresses were very surly and off hand. Location is good and the pool and surroundings are lovely.

Returned from a week at the Maritimo with my friends. We had a bril week, the staff very friendly and helpful especially Katerina. We had bed and breakfast as we wanted to sample the local food. Breakfast was fine and plenty to eat but continental style and limited choice. The room was clean and adequate for sleeping in but not quite as big as expected, we had a superior room with a balcony. The view from the room was beautiful, of the sea and pool. Location for sea and local tavernas bril, very peaceful but limited local bus services. Pool very clean and tidy overlooking the sea. Would definitely return for a holiday here again.

  • Advice: Bril place to stay if need to relax, sample traditional greek foods and go sightseeing in the area.

will not go back again

Jul 2010, sil

we just came back today from maritimo hotel in sissi; we stayed there for 13 days; way too long!
the rooms are old and they are not cleaned properly every day; the matras was terrible!
we had to pay extra for airco (7 euro a day). if you want tv pay extra again (5 euro a day!) we didn't take the tv.
some of the staff are really friendly, others are just polite. but they are all hardworking. the food was not good at least not for a 4* hotel;
we will definitely never go back.

  • Advice: this is not a 4* hotel

We have just finished staying at Maritimo Beach Hotel on half board booked with Thomas Cook. What a dull and boring place to stay, the rooms are sub standard in comparison to the brochure details, no basic things like a KETTLE!!!!!!
Some of the staff are hard working and lovely but the hotel facilities are crap!

Me and my boyfriend have just returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel. We were shown a room on maritimos website which was light and modern looking by the thomas cook travel agent as they had run out of brochures but when we were shown to our room it was dark and smelly with old fashioned furniture. We paid 98 euros for the aircon which also was smelly and it didn't work properly. We spoke to the lady on the reception about the problem but she was completely rude and unhelpful. During our stay we had no working shower for over 24 hours, faulty aircon, faulty fridge, unable to use pool for 1 day, the front door didn't lock, lights didn't work and a bad smell in the bathroom. Due to all the stress of these problems and the attitude of the management and staff, I had an asthma attack and my boyfriend had an overnight stay in hospital.
I would never recomend this hotel as the food was very poor, but on good note the restaurant staff were lovely.

Just got back from a lovely week at Maritimo Beach Hotel in Sissi. The pool, bar and reception areas are gorgeous - really clean and pretty - and the views are of the sea and mountains. The room was basic but cleaned every day, plenty of warm water and a nice balcony so no complaints there (you have to pay for the air conditioning separately though which is why I gave a rating of 9/10 rather than 10/10). It was a very quiet area and I thought the prices were reasonable. I loved the breakfast and evening meals we had with the half board. There was lots of variety. You may struggle if you are a fussy eater / only like British food but I think there would be enough there to suit everyone. There was a variety of nationalities but I liked that – met some interesting and pleasant people.
I would recommend the Maritimo and would love to stay there again. Thanks to all the staff who were so friendly and hard working.
