We spent two wonderfully relaxing weeks in Kambos last year. We stayed at The Pavlis Studios and are returning for the same two weeks this year.
The Studios are clean and adequately furnished for all our needs. Everyone we met was really friendly as well.
The pool and pool bar are run by a really nice Englishman called Dave. The beach is literally just across the road from the Studios and there are lots of really good tavernas just a few minutes’ walk up, or down, the one main road through the place.
There is an excellent, still very traditional taverna right next door to the Studios. That's called Rina's and you can still go into the kitchen to choose your food if you wish; they encourage you to.
One evening we sat by the pool bar and the owner of Rina's was there. He heard me say how nice the orange was that was in a drink and the next I knew he'd nipped back to his restaurant and came back carrying oranges for the four of us! Where would you get a friendly gesture like that in an English restaurant?
There is also another good taverna, just off the main street, called 'Muses'. You have to look for the little sign on the pole at the end of the road. That's also very traditional and friendly. There's another taverna just across the road almost where they serve the 'best mixed grill on Samos'.
My husband tried it one evening and he only just finished it; it was huge. Me, well I prefer to eat the Greek dishes whenever I can. They were wonderful too.
The problem you'll have is deciding which taverna to try; they were all excellent that we tried. Dave will advise which is best for particular dishes if you ask him.
