loved the apartments and location
we arrived on 11 may 2008, for asecond visit. we were made welcome, and had a sea view room, staff great and, bar staff i.e antonio and mr vargas made us very welcome. food good, but wish they had half board, mario ross fantastic entertainer, try kennerdys bar, and upper crust for eating, or sandwich snack in fuengirola, a trip to the zoo a must. re booking for next year.
good holiday in fuengirola
Stayed at this hotel in August 2007. Arrived late afternoon to airport, quickly jumped in a taxi which took us to la jabega. reception was clean and cool, staff friendly. Went to our rooms, both had a fantastic sea view, worth staying here just for that. Rooms were clean but very old fashioned. Bathroom appeared to be more up to date. Air conditioning was good kept us nice and cool. Not much equipment in kitchen, we just made sandwiches and kept drinks in the fridge. Which is all you need really! Maid service was ok didnt really do a lot in room. Lots of nice restaurants in fish alley, fuengirola, which is about a 15 min walk. La Jabega is in Los Boliches which is much quieter and cleaner than main fuengirola. Los Boliches also has a few nice bars and restaurants. the beach is lovely, sunbeds and umbrellas were a bit expensive from what i remember. We did a couple of good days out - Gibralter and Rhonda - coach trips from maxy travel picked us up from outside hotel. Also went to the waterpark in Torremelinos, we just got on the train which was very good. bit of walk to the park though in the heat. Also found the bus to Mijas from the bus station in Fuengirola which was very cheap. Really liked Mijas, very nice village. Went to market in torremelinos, not good at all. make sure u explore using buses and trains thay are very cheap and easy to use.We also walked to the shopping centre - nice walk along the prom but too far in the heat. The hotel bar was popular especially with the spanish. Dont bother with the food though we had lunch there one day and it was the worst meal we had. We stocked up on supplies at the supermarket - carry on along the prom towards fuengirola for 5 mins and u will find it. dont use the shop that is close to the apartments it is expensive. All in all these apartments were worth the money that we paid - dont expect luxury or mod cons! but the views are supurb!
Beautiful view, everything you need
I've been to Fuenjirola three times and this place was the best! My mother is from Spain and found this place for me and my boyfriend. We stayed for a week in July and were on the 6th floor with a beautiful ocean view. It had a nice little kitchenette where we kept our Don Simon gazpacho and our sangria fixings. Every day we came back from the beach to have our lunch on the beautiful terrace and then take a siesta in the very quiet room. The hotel also did our laundry for us, which was much needed after two months of backpacking. Also, the consierge recommended a fantastic restaurant to order a paella from-- you have to let the restaurant know when you are coming so they will have the paella ready especially for you. Also, there is a great bakery several blocks up towards the train station that sells the BEST empanadas you will ever have. Great hotel-- I've recommended it to anyone who is going to Spain.
Great Hotel Position and VFM
Booked for a break from the dreary winter's weather over here - unfortunately - it followed us!! Wind was blowing an absolute gale for the first three days but the view from our room of the sea doing its dance was stunning! What you see in the photos on the Jabega website is what you get, a very large room (ours had three single beds), large low table, two comfy armchairs plus another less comfy but ornate one. Plus the standard balcony furniture of a table and chairs. Kitchen is v. small, consisted of the sink, two burner hob and a normal size fridge and an overhead cupboard. There was also a little electric grill/oven, toaster and kettle, which were in the living area/bedroom when we arrived, but as it was on a trolley, we moved it to the kitchen. Also had a TV and aircon (aircon, payable local). The bathroom was a weird shape and dated (like the rest of the room/equipment) but again perfectly useable and pretty clean - and the room cleaned every day! Fantastic views from the balcony and very comfy beds, value for money tremendous!! If you do stay here, catch the train from the airport to Los Boliches for approx. 2 euros and it’s and approximate 5-10 minute walk to the hotel. Hotel is very easy to find from the station, head straight towards the sea, once on the sea road, turn right, keep walking and the apartments come up on the right. It's a fair stroll into Fuengirola (not a bad thing) and there is always back to the station to venture a little further a field at very reasonable fares.
it was ma 1st holiday abroad
Hey im only 15 and i was at the la jabega hotel it was a sort of last minute deal a was really nervous before i arrived because it was my first holiday abroad but when i got there my fellings definetly changed the staff were very polite and friendly the restraunt food was good but we only ate in there once because of the time of year we were there the hotel restraunt was full of OAPs but there was good restraunts close to the hotel we found a little english bar called oconnors it was brilliant they had entertainment every night and a realy enjoyed mr terri fox he/she was a brilliant comedian and the beach view from our room was definetly something its was lovely watching the sun go down .The room was simple but the beds were really comfy and a would recommend this hotel to anyone its FANTASTIC .
Visit the Jabega. It wont dissapoint!
Visited Fuengirola 18Oct 2007 for a week and stayed s/c at the Jabega. Situated right on the sea front in Los Boliches area its a quieter part of town. Our room was right on the front (although all have a sea view) with great views of the Med. With the patio windows open it does seem to echo the traffic below but nothing too bad....the morning bin trucks made the most noise! The room itself was clean and spacious, and the beds (2 single) comfy. You can choose to have the maid come in each day which is good for an appartment. The kitchenette was basic and small so dont expect to do much cooking there, but you dont need to with the abundance of places to eat roundabout. We had a clean fridge, kettle, toaster and some little oven type thing as well as 2 rings. All the cuttlery and a range of glasses all intact! The staff at the appartments were nice and friendly, and there is a tour office in reception, although we saved € booking with an agent just round the corner, but he's good for information if you need it! Also have internet access in reception @ €1 per 15 mins. The Jabega bar is nice and we were there @ some point every day sat outside people watching!! Only about 15 mins walk from Los Boliches train station its easy to get there from the airport yourself, so overall we will deffo be returning to the Jabega. Hope you enjoy as much as we did!
Excellent value for money
Great location, beach right outside, close to the center and eveninglife. Trainstation a few minutes away. Internetcafé around the corner. We got a cornerroom on the first floor witch wasn´t at all as noisy as the clerk warned us. The interior of the room was quite old and verry simple. The room was clean but cold need some polishing in the hidden away areas, especially in the bathroom. Also the "kitchen" was poor but working. The best thing with the room was the balcony. Big balcony and probabley the biggest in the area. The oceanview was breathtaking. Sitting on the balcony in the evening eating fresh corncobs and big ripe tomatoes with salt, bread and butter was the best thing on journey (one quickley gets tired of the crappy quality and range of restaurantfood in area). During my stay in Fuengirola i also stayed at Confortel Hotel. Of course Confortel was newer and more fresh with modern and "trendy" interiour. Still i felt La Jabega gave more quality and value to the journey as a whole. Mostley cuz of the balcony, better location and friendlier staff If your planning to stay at La Jabega try get a cornerroom.
Great holiday
Stayed there for one week to celebrate my birthday. Hotel was easy to find from the train staion at Los boliches, very impressed when we got to reception, room wasnt ready but got the keys within 10 mins. Room basic but great views of the beach, we had a corner apatment so the balcony was really big. Bit out the way from the centre but its lovely walking along the beach and harbour to get there, never needed to get a taxi. Lots of great pubs and food where ever you go, must recommend Heatherspoons for Sunday lunch, lovely I had that on my birthday and was not disappointed. Went to the zoo well worth it just to see the tigers and lemurs close up, it closed at 7pm in June bute July and August it stays open late where you can then have meal in moonlight. Got the bus to Mijas, lovely little village in the hills at the back of Fuerigirola, sad to see the donkeys tied up and the horses sweating in the heat but still worth a visit. Caught the bus to Marbella, be warned it took nearly one and a half hours to get there it stops at every bus stop on the route and its the same coming back. Not as I imagined it to be though, but hey I can say i have been. You will have a great time whenever you visit there its that kind of friendly place. Have fun!!!
Basic but fine
My husband and I stopped at these apartments for 4 days over the easter holiday. The location of the apartments was spot on with a lovely (and popular) restaurant attached to the building. The rooms were basic but to be honest, for a weekend break, these apartments were perfect. (comfy beds also) Would I go back?......... probably yes but only for a weekend break.
Hotel Jabea
Stayed there in Sep 04. Excellent beach front position and well situated for local bars/resturants etc, (venture into the backstreets behind hotel into Los Boliches) for 'away from the crowds'. Try to get highest floor possible for the views and it should be a little quieter than lower floors from traffic noise at night. Very nice bar/coffee shop at the front, serving snacks etc and entertainment some evenings. 50m across road to beach. All rooms have balcony, sea view and well appointed.
