In December of last year my friend & I booked a holiday through Global Travel. We booked to go 9th June,2008 to 17th June 2008. 1 week before we travelled our final Invoice arrived on it was written "Roof Room", on our original booking no mention of this was made. Now this room did not have a window, can you believe that, it only had a sky light, there was no escape route if there was a fire. The stairs leading to the Roof Room were the same width as step ladder the frame was metal. the steps wooden. The other rooms in the hotel were not much better. The lower ground floor rooms had a view of a wall, the middle rooms were the best, all rooms were very cramped. In all my years of travel,33in all, I have never stayed in such a terrible room. The food in the hotel restaurant was very mundane, luckily we were able to eat in the adjoining Hotel, Sun City, otherwise we would have had to eat elsewhere as other guests, indeed, had to. The staff were miserable and the hotel manager was rude and refused to move us, saying we had booked an economy room, who in their right mind would booked a Attic Room? We also offered to pay extra. The young man at reception told us that last year, 2007, guests had refused to stay in the Roof Room and had,in fact, been moved to other hotels, a practice this year they were not doing, so you see Global Travel, although aware that customers were not happy were still selling the rooms this year-so my advice is if you have booked with Global Travel, double check what type of room you have. The best part of the Hotel was the swimming pool. The resort is a bit too commercialized for me and the beach was pebbles only and the sea had a deep drop which is dangerous for children and the so called famous Blue Lagoon was far to crowded. Turkish men are rather mostly rude or very letchy.

Do not go to the Tropicana please read!!
My fiancé and I decided to book a nice relaxing holiday, as throughout the past year have been through a lot... we looked around and saw Olu Deniz in Turkey looked gorgeous! We booked all inclusive through teletext, and the agent said the hotel had really good reviews and for a last minute deal thought ok we'll give it a try.
Where do we start?????
We paid just over £1000 for a last minute deal, and thought for a 4 star was ok.. however the Tropicana is NOT a 4 star…. A 1 / 2 star maybe? Probably not even that!
The food was awful… never different…think they changed the food twice in the 10 days we were there. Every all inclusive we have been to, the drinks have been the best part… but here the bar shuts at 12am… you cannot buy another drink, that’s it the bar is shut!goodnight! The staff will not let you get another drink until you have finished your previous drink, even with ¾ of it gone! It is a joke! Tension had built throughout the holiday and one evening, my fiancé went to the bar asking for drinks for our table… it was 11:50, and they said the bar was closed… the bar man was drunk, and after abusive language through a glass bottle at my fiancé, luckily it hit the tree, and ran round trying to throw punches at him!! Luckily I wasn’t there, after all the stress we have been through we did not need a rude Turkish **** ruining our holiday! The manager was laughing…so who could we report to!! No-one…we had no reps either!
To cut a long story short, the cleaners stole cigarettes from our room, reported it, but were told to look at the small print “ we recommend you pay for a small deposit box, as anything stolen from your room, is not our responsibility” how could we fit 200 B&H in a safety deposit box…we walked away in the end.. yet again furious!
The rooms are so basic...its not a hotel, its more like apartments! No hotel ive ever been too! The photos really are an illusion, it is nothing like that!
However:
I would like to add Olu Deniz as a resort was beautiful, outside the hotel people couldn’t do enough for you. Everything is so close by, so make sure you take extra spending money for the excursions, these are definitely worth it!
Please do not go to the Tropicana, spread the word!!

My wife and i booked and we are regular travellers to Turkey. Got to say that this is a good hotel with friendly staff, rooms small but reasonably clean, maid service every day.
Food is typical AI fare but always found something that was o.k. most of the time was satisfied with what was on offer. Had a complaint about the room they assigned us when we first arrived and they moved us the following day. If you can try to book a room that isn't in the 100's i.e. A101 B101 etc. book aroom 1n the 200's or higher. Rooms in 100's are in what the call the dungeon and the only view you have is a retaining wall, but these rooms are slightly bigger.
Staff on the whole were friendly and polite and the grounds are kept to a high standard.
Having said all this the hotel wasn't full and it was near the end of the season but we will go back at the same time next year if the price is right.
Weather was really good for time of year we had no rain and was 28 to 30 during the day but a wooly was recommended in the evening.
Resort is very nice but small and quiet, but Hisaronu is only a dolmus ride away and much livlier.

On arrival to Turkey we was informed that the transfer would be approx 1hr and 30 minutes, the driver on the transfer was not experienced and was having difficultly find the hotels, approximately 3 hrs later we arrived at Tropicana Olu Deniz.
On arrival we were taken to our room, which was a ‘roof/attic room. When I booked the holiday I was informed that I could have a roof/attic room I was under the impression that I would have a balcony or a window to appreciate the views of Olu Deniz. After the 3 hr transfer we were taken to the room, the stairs leading up to the room were steep and not safe, it would not be suitable for the elderly or families with young children. The room was that small it was difficult to stand in certain places; the air conditioning did not work properly. The ceiling was wooden and therefore the room was like a sauna. The only ventilation in the room was a small sunlight window which did not open fully. The room was poorly lighted and the whole experience was extremely upsetting. We went back down to the reception area and asked if we could change the room, we was willing to pay a supplement, the reception staff then informed us that they could not speak English and through their arms in the air. I asked to speak to the manager I explained we was not happy with the room he was very rude and abrupt and I was basically told that there was nothing he could do. i contacted the travel agents who informed me that they would do there best to get us another room or transfer us to another hotel. Approximately 2 days later I received a phone call from the agents saying that they could not find any accommodation in the Olu Deniz area and the accommodation that they had found was in another region of Turkey. We were only on holiday for a week and other members of our family were also staying in the Olu Deniz area.
Whilst on the holiday we spoke to many holiday makers also staying at Tropicana, they to, were not happy with the accommodation and were put in the same situation as myself. I booked the tropicana hotel as 4 star accommodation, in future this hotel should be advertised at a low 3 star. I have stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels in turkey in the past and being extremely pleased with the service received and also the accommodation.
It has taken the agents two months to reply to my complaint and i am still not happy, the resort its self is beautiful it is just a shame about the staff and management.

Well situated small comlex of 70 apartments. 2 mins from main strip and 5 from the beach yet complex is peaceful. The plus side = rooms compact with fridge and TV nice bathroom, cleaned everyday, bed linen and towels changed regularly. The pool is well maintained. All staff were friendly and helpful even when not understanding they would refer you to someone who spoke better English. Entertainment provided twice a week, other than that piped music from pool bar. Although all inclusive, with exception of meal times, all drinks have to be requested at pool bar, local spirits, beer and soft drinks plus wine. Food was plentiful and well presented but do not expect typically english meals. Breakfast was eggs either boiled or omellette, continental with croissants cheese and ham, cereals and fruit. Lunch one soup, one chicken dish, one beef dish but endless amounts of salad, veg there was usually only 1 choice. Most meat dishes were in some kind of sauce. Evening was the same, there were always chips and rice. We found everything very tasty, especially deserts. On the minus side: be aware that there are 4 floors to this complex, a basement, 1st, 2nd, and attic. If your booking says economy you will be placed in attic which has NO window other than a sky light, your door is wood so this window is the only source of light plus you will have 4 flights of stairs to climb. The basements look out on to a patio wall about 2 metres high, try to verify that you will have a balcony to ensure you get the middle 2 floors. The other minus was that the facilities are shared with Sun City(while you cannot use theirs) and there is a problem booking sun beds, there are 62 beds and it is first up to bag them. We would go back to this complex as we had a wonderful time, paragliding is excellent.Watch out for wasps at Blue Lagoon and mossies were horrendous.Buy phone cards at local shops, very good value, but £2 per minute on mobiles.

Just returned from a 10 day all-inclusive holiday at the Tropicana and really don't know where to start. The food (not fit for most dogs) is absolutely atrocious, with literally the same two choices of beef slop or chicken slop with rice everyday. There is no choice for Children and we ended up eating out most days at around £60 each day, adding another £600 on top of the cost of the holiday.
The drinks weren't much better, local beer, gin, Vodka and soft drinks anything else costs 7 lira.
Having almost paid £3000 for this holiday, we complained to the Hotel Manager and his response was "everyones paid a lot of money" To add insult to injury, we inquired about upgrading to Sun City next door and they wanted an additional £1000.
I suspect this hotel got it's four star rating by passing itself off as the far superior Sun City resort next door as all Sun City guests had free run of the Tropicana (but not the other way round) My 2 star rating is generous, purely because of it's location, however if you are reading this review prior to booking DON'T, if you have already, you will need to raid the piggy bank to fund your restaurant visits.

I was worried about going to the Tropicana after reading some of the comments on here, i would just like to set a few things straight, the tropicana is nothing like some of t he horrible comments that are on here, it was a friendly resort, the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were okay and on the 2 occassions that the air conditioning broke, when we reported this to reception it was fixed in a matter of minutes. The food was lovely and although we had the option to go next door to Sun City as they are sister hotels we chose to stay in the Tropicana, I would suggest people that slagged the food off stick to going to Blackpool for regular greasy rubbish that they must have missed so much, I really enjoyed this holiday, it was our best holiday ever, please dont beleive the negative comments on this sight, i went with my partner and children aged 11 and 15 and there was ample both in sun city and the tropicana to please us all, the family that we went with paid £1500 more to stay in Sun City have decided like us to book again for next year. i think that it says it all when even the Turkish people go to the Tropicana for their holidays. Thanks everyone at the Tropicana for a wonderful holiday, see you next year!!!

The hotel rooms are compact to say the least.Reception staff will insist that it is your tour operators fault and to take it up with them.Be wary of accepting a room for 3/4 people that only have 2 single beds.
The Manager will never be available if you have a problem, and leaves his staff to handle his responsibilities.
The hotel itself is clean and tidy, with rooms cleaned daily and towels also changed daily,by very hard working maids.
The hotel food is awful, and lacks choice.I would recommend you have all your meals at the Sun City Hotel which is linked to the Tropicana. If you are on an all inclusive boarding basis you can do this at no extra cost, and the quality and choice of food is exceptional in comparison.
BE AWARE THE STAFF WILL NOT ADVISE YOU OF THIS AVAILABILITY.
Bar staff at the hotel are friendly, and always helpfull.nothing is too much trouble for them. The reception staff would benefit from a customer relations course,as on many occasions they were rude to the point of being ignorant.
Overall we had a good holiday, but would choose different accomodation next time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Tropicana. The pool area and gardens were lovely. There was a good choice and variety of food each day with a different snack at the pool bar. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff were very helpful. The rooms were clean and we have booked to go back again in the summer. My husband and daughter did the paragliding which they said had spectacular views. the private beach is also worth a visit for a day at the beach. The resort itself is fairly small and food and drink outside the hotel is about the same cost as the UK.

We have visited this hotel three times now and love it. staff are friendly rooms are fresh and clean. Food is good quality, ok maybe not what you would always choose to eat as it is in turkey there are alot of stews, but there is a salad bar with plenty of choice we always find something to eat. looking forward to going back sometime later this year.

This holiday was a serious once in a lifetime journey. Ok so there was a few downsides as the food wasn’t your usual English things but if you’re going on holiday you have to be open to try new things. Although a few times I didn't like the look of the food I never went hungry once.
Although there does not seem like a lot of seats, there is always one for you but if you are looking for a non-stop silent holiday then this is not for you as it is a lively and friendly place.
Being only a street away from the main shops is really handy and all the locals very friendly. All the goods are stylish and there is something for everyone! Just off the main street are other shops if one street is not enough for you.
Going down from the main street is the beach. Although I didn't go into the water here I still visited and it was very nice but if dogs are not your thing then I wouldn't go here. If you want somewhere a little more private then the private beach is a perfect place! If you go to this hotel then you get to go free and it is a perfect day out. I visited twice in my week being here. It is calm and peaceful and a fun day out!
All the staff are very friendly and they love to have a laugh with you. I made lots of friends in the staff and although I will probably never see them again I will always remember them. I fell in love with one particular employee and I will NEVER forget him.
Something’s do not come into the all inclusive bit like if you want a free ice-cream then you have to have it between 4 and 5 and such but this is all on the all inclusive paper.
Finally I would just like to say that I loved it here. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would definitely jump at the chance of coming again!

Not a 4 star as advertised. All inclusive but nothing served except Chicken and Beef some fish if you were lucky.
No entertainment or special food for Children. Only went for 7 days that was enough, no balcony just a seven foot wall to look at. Other rooms were not much better as they had only trees to look at.
The owner seemed to be there all the time and the staff were very uptight. Least friendly I have known in Turkey.
The rooms were kept very clean and the pool was perfect. This is a Hotel I will not be visiting again.

Lovely setting and close to really nice shops and the beach. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
The rooms were a little small with no balcony at all in the basement, but kept very clean.
The food was good, although not a lot of choice. Eggs, fresh breads with corn flakes, preserves and the usual continental cheeses and hams for breakfast, then a good lunch of either salads with fresh meats and fish, always with soups and sweets. The dinners were a little repetitive but the food was always well cooked and tasty.
We really enjoyed our holiday here for a very reasonable price, in a beautiful resort and very friendly people. Would definitely visit again.
