Hear hear the hotel was abysmal. Food inedible - wouldn't dare feed my cat the food for fear of it keeling over. Actually infact there was a roaming kitten to feed it to but then that crawled away to die somewhere. BREAKFAST specifically - wasps swarming under the... more

We have just returned from our holiday at this hotel and found it very disappointing. The location was very poor, there were no shops within half an hours walking distance although the pebble beach was about 20mins walk away where there were a few bars. The local town of... more

We have just got back from Corfu today, I booked this hotel with teletext before reading any reviews it looked and sounded wonderful just what we wanted. I then read awful reviews and was distraught at what we were going too. We arrived early hours of the Saturday morning... more

We booked this hotel through Jetline Travel who we used in the past, they have always been very good, and we put no fault on them We went to this hotel on 13 June 2007, just two of us. We were expecting a lovely 4 star hotel on the beach, official rating 3 star, this was... more

beautiful views
Had a great two weeks all inclusive for 2 for just over a grand. Have been to Corfu before and knew it was hilly and not as modern as some other destinations. The hotel description on travel confirmation said 3 star, 2km from Ipsos, 800m from beach and not suitable for those with walking disabilities or very young children. The views were to die for, the pool beautiful and the public areas spotless. During the 2 weeks our beds were changed on alternate days and rooms and bathrooms cleaned daily except Sundays but even then if you wanted clean towels you only had to ask at reception! The staff could have been a little more communicative but then we Brits dont make much effort to speak Greek! It was isolated but if you research your holiday you know what to expect. Some reviews complain about the wasps but this is outside and there is not a lot anyone can do about that. The food was on the whole very good, it is Greece and the food was cooked as they cook it not as we would at home. Why do people go abroad if they want everything as they have it all year round? We met several people who were not happy but they all seem to have been misled by their travel companies. We also met several people who really enjoyed their stay. I would agree it was not 4 star but I never thought it was anyway and for those who usually get better for that money I wish I could do it!
Nightmare Holiday Awaits You Here!!
I have returned from this hotel Monday 9 July and believe me don’t go there. We booked a family holiday for 18 people, mum, dad, 3 daughters and their families to celebrate an 18th, 50th and a member of our family in remission from a terminal illness. We booked a 4* all inclusive, so we thought. We arrived at the hotel at 9.30pm in the evening and was dropped off by our coach at the end of the driveway and walked up a dark road and then was greeted by another holidaymaker advising us that we have entered a holiday from hell resort and if you like chicken and pork you’re sorted!! We booked in at Reception, would have helped if Receptionist knew what rooms we had, we were telling her from the list available as they had tried to book us into all double rooms, me personally have 3 small children not a good start. We were then offered something to eat, not bad as we were hot, tired, thirsty and hungry – cold meats and bread. We were then loaded into a van and whisked down to our rooms, everyone was everywhere I was up on the top floor – about 3 trips up the stairs did with all the luggage, kids and buggy. The room consisted of two rooms with two single beds in each, we are a family of 5 – so youngest two top-to-toed for the night, you have to side step around the room as not much room, bathroom something from the 70s. Next morning up and out to the balcony, lovely sea view but not practical for 3 small children too high, table & chairs were placed where my 2 yr old decided to climb up and look over, a quick retreat back into the room. We went up around 100 steps to hotel for all facilities, or via the very steep slope for the buggy. This hotel is two hotels into one, Nautilus Beach Hotel and the other was known as Club Barbati which is down the steep mountain side. Location isolated you are not able to walk to Ipsos or Barbati as this is main road, very bendy and no pavements, a taxi is €20 round trip to Ipsos which was okay. Breakfast is served from 8-10am, from 10am to 12noon children are able to get snacks (2 scoops of ice-cream and only 1 sauce) and they have to be under 14 otherwise not served. Lunch is 12-2pm and then from 2-4pm more ice-cream available for kids and cheese & ham toasted sandwiches for all but they do run out very quick and then no more available. From 4-6pm tea/coffee and cakes are served and then dinner from 6-8pm and thereafter no other food is available only peanuts can be bought from the bar, my child has a nut allergy. We ate out 4 nights out of 7 that should say enough really, food very bland and very greasy. Hot food was only hot when first served there was no warm plate to keep it warm, salads were kept chilled by a fan and not in a chiller; local wasps seemed to enjoy the food! Drinks served local beer, red/white wine, ouzo, brandy and all soft drinks only two can be ordered per person, bar closes at 11pm. Was actually told my barman one day that my family is too big!!! The main pool is actually the only decent thing about this place but there are lots of wasps around, so if you do go after this review take some spray. The children’s pool is about 50 steps down and right next to the main road, no chairs/beds are here and I won’t let my dog go in it, was filthy. Children’s playground, a few plastic bits, slide, house swing etc but all on gravel and next to the road – not child friendly whatsoever. Beach bar/decking area requires abseiling qualifications to reach it, bar was only opened 1.5hrs in the morning and again 1.5hrs in afternoon, area is not for families. Staff need to attend a communication programme on how to have manners very moody, miserable lot except one lady on the bar, very happy and helpful. Dust everywhere did clean my room but only where they could see and make beds about 5 times out of week. If you pay £125 for a weeks holiday here then that’s about right for a 2* hotel as this is nothing more than that. The only English travel rep here is for youtravel.com and any complaints she will say that it is not her company but it is as they sub-contract for all the English travel companies who send their customers to the hotel. You have been warned you will be a mad Englishman if you still go after reading this!!! Just to clarify that if you have paid for 2** then you are getting what you paid for but if you have paid for 4**** then you have been robbed.
Stop moaning and enjoy it
I agree with the review by Mike gunn 27/6/07. The main downsidefor us were the moaning brits we were greeted on our arrivalby a woman who had arrived the previous day she said it was terrible and she wanted to go home. We kept an open mind we had booked this online and it was cheap so our expectations were not that high and we new it wouldnt be the Hyatt. One new arrival complained to me "it's not what we are used to!" well at the price perhaps she could please let us all know where she usually stays The setting was fabulous an absolutely beautiful view and we were fortunate that due to a problem with the electricity in our original room thay moved us on the same night to another room which was brilliant for us because we had a room on the second floor at the front with a 3 way panoramic view - I got some beautiful pictures. We had a few initial problems which were trivial and they were efficiently sorted by the staff. who we found friendly and helpful, they do respond to being treated courteously although I dont think they always get it. The pool was beautiful a good size and very clean. If you like salads the food is ok a littly heavy on the oil and mayo tho' the meat was not good (reminded me of school dinners)but they did great chips !! Anyway if you want great food you go to france or italy. We didnt go anywhere else and gave up on our walk to the shops after a close encounter with a truck,we could have used the hotel transport or a bus but we decided to be lazy and slob out by the pool On thing I think the hotel could bear in mind is that the white wine which is served from a very large wine box takes a long time to chill down and at the start of a new bow you end up with warm wine i think they should a have a spare already on chill because the white is in much demand and really was quite drinkable. I do not generally leave reviews but I feel compelled to put in a good word for the hotel because I really do think that with the price and its beautiful views it was a pleasant place and the previous reviews are unfairly biased against the hotel and its staff
Don't go there!
It was a dirty hotel with no clean bedding or towels all week. All inclusive didn't give you the opportunity to drink everything just selected beverages. Water and ice cream even had to be paid for unlike other hotels I've visited. Has air conditioning but only at additional charge. The hotel itself was very isolated and nowhere near Ipsos. Definitely unsuitable for elderly and children due to hotel being on a hill and having many steps to climb. The holiday was made better only due to the people that we met during our stay. Local transfer was good to get you out and about.
Nautilus Hotel
as a recent holiday maker to this hotel we found on arrival that this infact was chalet blocks sitting on a mountainside on three levels and not infact a three storie hotel as advertised. we were situated on the lower level to which our luggage had to be dropped off by mini-bus we were situated on level two and had to haul suitcases up two flights of stairs to our room. after settling in at 10 30 pm we decided to go to the bar which stops serving all inclusive guests at 11pm hence we had to pay for our drinks until 1am when the bar closed. when we were told to then go to bed. note this bar only serves cheap local brands of alchohol and very limited variety. at the pool area swarms of wasps and diving birds which were encouraged to nest there on pieces of wood nailed to the rafters which nests where on. birds droppings were left on the floor for up to three days without being cleaned. now on to the staff, for the exceptions of one lady by the name off Katerina all the staff seem to be oblivious to your needs and all oblivious to the english language. the night porter threatenend to evict us from the hotel at 20 past 1 in the morning because we were talking too loud. the owner apparently ! a blonde lady neither talked or associated with british visitors but seem to have time for other european visitors needs facilities at this hotel are zero anything needed from a shop are two miles away down a main road with no footpath the local bus stop was situated on the main outside the "hotel" on the road. which rarely run on time and stoped at 7:15 pm. to get evening entertainment the nearest nightlife was ipsos which cost 20 euros round trip. as a three star "hotel" i would have thought that the customers would have been tried to be entertained due to our seclusion. any other comments can contact me!!!!!! needless to say two star tops.
Do not go to this hotel
We have just returned from a 2 weeks holiday at the Nautilus hotel, well what can i say ... it was awful. As soon as we arrived the hotel receptionist asked us to put our suitcases into a van so he could drive us down to our room. Yes he drove us to our room, we was nowhere near the hotels pub or swimming pool, the rooms that was near there was all kept for the germans. As soon as i saw our 4 star family room i just wanted to cry (yes i was warned greek hotels are basic) but it was dreadful, we had broken floor tiles, a phone that wasnt connected to anything just all bare wires hanging out of it, a broken shower you had to hold it yourself above your head, big brown chunky furniture in the room which needed a good clean (well needed to go in a skip really) and why they had this furniture in the room i dont know cos you couldnt swing a cat in them the rooms were tiny the amount of times we banged our toes on the end of the bed was unbelievable. If we wasnt all so tired and just wanted to sleep we would have all gone back up to reception and demanded another room there and then. When we eventually got up we decided to visit the shops asked at reception where they were and was told there was some in barbati which is a 20 minute walk or some in ipsos which is a 30 minute walk. We were told when i booked the holiday this hotel was on the beach with plenty of shops and restaurants close by, what a joke. Anyway we tried the walk into ipsos Not advisable with 2 kids, we got half way and i said no turn back we are gonna get killed, the roads were all bendy and narrow with no pavements and cars driving fast right next to you it was not a pleasant walk. When we got back i phoned up the rep we had had enough. The hotel was nowhere near the beach, shops or restaurants and was def not 4 star we wanted to be moved, but the rep wouldnt do nothing she said it was down to my travel agents who i booked it with, so basically we were stuck half way up a mountain with nothing around us and a dump of a room. Yes our perfect 2 week holiday ... Not. The food at the hotel was edible thats all i can say, it didnt vary much and none of us looked forward to meal times, my 7 yr old daughter didnt like anything so we actually baught all her meals which is a bummer when you ave paid for all inclusive. The staff at the hotel are miserable and does not even attempt to make your holiday. The hotel have also got decking which you can go straight into the sea to do snorkeling or canoeing, its about a 10 minute walk from the hotel but they have got a bar down there which is still all inclusive because it all belongs to the hotel. OK about the decking BE CAREFUL. My daughter stood on a 3inch nail sticking out of it and had to be taken to hospital, the decking is full of blood stains and probably will be for awhile. The man who worked in that bar took my daughter and husband to the hospital (he would only take one of us). When they came back my husband had riots with the manager of the hotel about the decking and about 3 days after her accident they started banging in nails. How disgusting is that!! We hired a car for the whole time we were there you really have to otherwise you will get bored, We made a lot of friends on our holiday and they were all in the same boat as us every single one of them hated the place and they all got told it was on the beach with shops, restaurants etc. If we hadnt made friends with them i would have wanted to be on the next flight out of there. Linzi and Andrew get in touch with me I've lost your phone number (probably went in the pool one night lol). Pat you made me laugh with the things you would say about the hotel you were great and your next door neighbour comforting me when Katie was in the hospital awww. We hope to meet you all again just not at the Nautilus Hotel in barbati with its 4 stars lol yeah right more like a 2 star and thats pushing it.
ignore the moaners
We went to this hotel after booking on teletext on june 8th for 1 week.we paid £124 including transfers for all inclusive. We realised at that time this was not going to be the paris hilton and others should surely have made same assumption if they have ever been on holiday before. We had a brilliant time food was limited but very good, staff were brilliant, scenery was to die for.Our room was in the bottom block with excellent views(i believe this was previously a different hotel called club barbati)The vast majority of the people there were also having a great time-but like everywhere you go there are the professional complainers, they complained about the food, staff, beer, rooms, you name it they complained about it.Most of the people agreed the only problems with the holiday was the hotel was isolated so you could not go for a stroll after meals etc although it did not stop some people from doing so,also if your tipple at the bar was gin or whisky this was not included in price. The only other problem was the continual wingers(all brits not the `foreigners`)
if you like a bit of life dont go here
we booked 1 week all inclusive, when we arrived on the 1st of june there were only 4 people staying in the hotel. the food is fair there is no entertainment only a film show twice a week no sky tv only english channel was the bbc world news .the hotel is no where near ipsos it is totally isolated .a 15 minute ride away. the local buses all stop running at 16-30,so if you wanted to go to the nearest bar to the hotel it cost 24 euro return in a cab.if you go to corfu town for a boat ride they return at 16-45 guess what time the last bus is back to the hotel 16-30 so thats another 45 euro for a taxi.even though we were so called all inclusive the only spirit you can have is brandy all other local spirits cost 5 euro same drinks are 2 euro in ipsos on a final note the hotel management are so laid back they allowed a stray pup to roam around the hotel for 2 days it had a wee in the dining room while we were eating and a poo at the side of the swimming pool and all they could say was we dont know who it belongs to
Do not go there & Do not use Broadway Travel
e booked our Holiday through Broadway Travel, the hotel Nautilus Beach sounded great. It was advertised as 4* all inclusive with wonderful facilities and in Ipsos. We researched into Ipsos which sounded like a great area to stay with plenty of activities for all ages. When we arrived at our destination it was something out of holidays from hell but worse, our room we booked (Family room with sea view) was in a deralict building 1/2 a mile away where we was told was unsafe to stay and we were told we would be given Room 210 (their best room) the place was filthy.. we walked up the dirty paths and broken stairs to another outter building and to our dismay arrived at our room, there was a hole 12x12" big in the wall the front door had a 3 inch gap underneath it, wires hung out of the wall and the amount of insects festering on the floors in the tiny room was unbelieveable. We opened the bathroom door to find insects all in the shower and gravey and dirt. The balcony had trees over grown coming over and the doors did not fasten securly. I burst into tears and immediately called broadway travel who we booked the holiday through. Broadway Travel said there was nothing they could do and our contract was with youtravel.com..?? well we didn't book through them..? we were totally fobbed off and I then called Youtravel.com who said that there was nothing they could do..! I tried to get the rep to come doen to the hotel but she kept saying she couldn't etc. I then pleaded for them tyo get us a flight back to the UK that day as it really was that bad. After hours of continuos calls to the uk and the Corfu travel office I was told we would have to wait till the next day and she was going to see waht she could do. We got a call at 9am the next morning stating they were not going to move us as contractually the family room was available and they would get someone down there to clean it.. Buit the hotel had said wasn't safe as totally on its own half mile down road un manned and needed construction..!? I was totally appauled but then realised that all paper work stated that the hotel was in Ipsos...??! But we were uin the middle of the mountains with not even a shop tio walk to and you had to wait for a coach at 2.30pm to go into the town (even to get cigerretts..!) so I basically ended up throwing the book back at them as all paper work I had Stated Ipsos which I was told was a 30Euro taxi drive away and the next town so finallly 28 hours later we were moved to a fantastic hotel called Ipsos Beach despite having to pay the transfer fee..! I would highly advise you DO NOT USE BROADWAY TRAVEL as they except no liability for any problems occured on holiday as they say they are just a booking agent and palm you off. Also do not believe the pictures etc you see on their site as ours must have been taken of a different hotel..! I hope you read this in time and if you have booked it I would say do your best to change or at the worst just except your loss as it really is appauling and I would have paid for flights home if we had not been moved.
We will not return!
We just came back from our trip from this hotel (NL- two persons travel agency Ferio Holland) I have thenext remarks: - Quality-price is bad. We had to pay 650 Euro for 8 days and for this amount of money I expected a lot more!!!! last year we were at zakynthos and this was l lot al lot better!!! - Make sure not to get room in the old building at sea. There is nosupervision on this building. Futhermore the keys for the doors give no security at all. They look like keys for your wardrobe at home...so no security at all. Our room had been forced in the past and it gave no security at all. - The furniture is very old and | felt I was dumped. When I arrived I wished I was home again. The pictures in the brochure are in no comparison of teh reality. - The next day we got a new room. ...and a key similar used for your own frontdoor...so much better.... Hower the sheets were not cleaned and contained hair of the former gasts.... The bathroom is very small and when we took a shower we stood with our feet in 10 cm of water because the water could flush away quickly. - Also it was told that the sheets would be cleaned every several days. In the 8 days we were there we did not get any clean sheets at all !! - Make sure to rent a car, scooter of mnoter because otherwise you will get stocked in the hotel because they have no entertainment at all for adults or kids....and tghe nearest booulevard takes 30 minutes of walking. an dthe last bus from Corfu town is at 7.15 PM - People with back problems will have a problem with the beds. Gladly I had taken from home my own air bed. Positive issues: - The food is good...even alcoholic drinks are for free. - In the main building at the restaurant the keep everything clean. I would not advise this hotel for families with children. In general | was very disappointed and I will not return to this hotel.
