I travelled to The First Class Hotel with my friend Ruth and to be honest we were dreading what we would find when we got there as had heard so many terrible reviews. We however spent two fantastic weeks there and could not complain about anything, especially how friendly the staff were- we are both in our twenties and never once felt hassled or threatened by the staff there- in particular Mourat, Jo, Ahmed and the best barman in Altinkum who was always on hand with ice to cool you down (Even if you were sleeping by the pool at the time!) ;-) The only thing I would say about the hotel is that although we were half board we only ate in the hotel twice in our stay and not because the food was disgusting, it just wasn't to our taste and we spent most nights in Buzz Bar on the sea front- The food in there is lovely and reasonably priced, not too mention the staff- they all work so hard and are so friendly. The pool area is massive and even though the water is salt water it didn't stop us from jumping in on a regular basis- you will understand why once you have sat in the sun for more than five minutes!

Our room was above CJ's, the bar downstairs and I can see how this might be a problem if you have travelled with young children or are older and prefer quieter resorts but it was ideal for us and CJ's made our holiday as the lads down there were fab and so friendly- we ended up there every night and the odd night we were really tired and couldn't be bothered to venture out we just sat on our balcony and still joined in with the fun! You must buy a cocktail in this bar- they sing the best song ever when it arrives!

All in all, a fantastic holiday- i've already booked for next year! Please don't believe all you read in reviews about this hotel. Yes, it isn't an english 4 star equivalent but for Turkey it is a hotel offering good value for money.

Got back yesterday after 2 weeks at the First Class Hotel and our first ever visit to Turkey.

I can only reiterate the majority of comments I have read about this hotel.

It's dirty, dated and the choice of food is severely limited.

We went on a B & B basis. The breakfast was the same everyday but I wouldn't complain too much about that. However, fruit juice served in plastic tumblers?? Around the pool area, drinks are served in glasses.

We had to ask for clean towels everyday and sometimes the maid would come back with only 2 replacements instead of four. The rooms are carpeted but never saw a vacuum cleaner. The sheets were only changed once in the 2 weeks and I had to ask for that.

As others have commented, salt water in the bathroom and you have to climb into the bath to take a shower. There was so much limescale around the fittings, we could never get the shower to work properly, more came out of the bath tap. It was always a cold shower in the mornings but OK in the evening.

The pool area looks nice at first glance but then you realize that the sun bed mattresses are probably the dirtiest and tattiest you're likely to see in Turkey, or anywhere for that matter. The pool contains not only salt water but a floating film of what I took to be suncream/oil.

The staircase to the rooms is very dark. Whilst we were there the hotel suffered a number of powercuts. I know this is the norm in Turkey, but other hotels were unaffected. We concluded that the management were turning the power off to save money!!

But this what is the real scary bit. When the power does go off, there is no emergency/strip lighting. You really cannot see where you are going. If there was a fire, I would dread to think of the consequences through this fact alone!!

Every guest that we spoke to had numerous complaints and a few people checked out after only a day or so.

On the plus side, it could have such a lot going for it. The location is superb, other than the karaoke bars at either side which is a problem. The reception staff in particular were helpful and pleasant.

To sum up then, I would definitely go back to Altinkum but not to the First Class. In all honesty, I think hotel companies/agents should stop advertising this until the major problems are sorted.

Personally, I can't see it opening again next season

Never having been to Turkey before we expected nothing sparkling but clean, but how wrong we were. The room was filthy, salt water coming for the shower and tap. The fittings were disgusting, we had to buy bleach to try and clean what we were using, hot (well warm) water was available if you were lucky to wash in, toilet seat was broken, door to balcony would not lock and the fire escape would not shut and was padlocked at the bottom. Crappy turkish music was played to satisfy the locals who wandered into use the facilities, not to suit the people who were paying for all this. The room had seen better days (probably just after the war) and was cleaned only if we requested it and removed the sheets and put them and the towels on the floor to be changed. The room door handle was broken and we had to fight with it to get it open. Breakfast was great if you were on a diet of bread and juice, if not you stayed clear. The sunbeds round the pool were torn and broken and the pool surroundings were filthy. When we complained to someone (a member of management as that was how he looked when he walked about) he said all this would be repaired (obviously didn't mean this year). All the locals knew about the reputation of the hotel and either laughed or shook their heads or shrugged their shoulders when we said we stayed there. The guys in the bars and restaurants were great, the food was excellent although the local beach was filthy, covered in dogs dirt and cigarette ends. The local businesses could do worse than to get together and pay to get it cleaned on a regular basis and have it looking like the main beach just along the road. If it wasn't for the people we met and the fun we had in their company the holiday would have been much worse. Thank you to them. Altinkum is nice and has a lot to offer but I would never return to that hotel and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. We also heard the owner was in jail because of the hotel. He should have been made to stay there full board, that would have been punishment for him!!

My husband and myself stayed in the rubbish hotel from 9th Sept to 16 Sept, on a half board basis. Well what can i say that is good about the hotel,NOTHING. The bad points, water always cold, had to wash in cold water and shower, it was also running salt water. beds were all stained and so dirty i would not let my dog sleep on them,We were at the front of the hotel and the noise from the bars below never stopped till 4am so not much sleep. when we went down for our tea,(tea is from 7 till 9 ) which was always cold and they would only let you have very small portions, and on the second evening at 7.45pm we went for evening meal and there was nothing left, all the locals who were friends with the staff and were NOT staying there had come in and eaten all the food , so we did not get our evening meal that we had paid for. When we complained the manager said we should have come eairler !!!. In the morning we went down for breakfast, again all gone, locals again !!, so i thought i would just have a coffee, but that was all gone too. Breakfast was rubbish , you got stale cereal, and hard boiled eggs if you were lucky, and the rest of the breakfast was salad. I though there would have at least have been toast, but you were lucky to get bread.

The rooms were never cleaned, there was even empty beer bottles and toilet paper on the floor of our room from the ppl who were in the week before. The fridge in the room had beer and cold drinks in it and also bottles of sprits and water, This they will charge you for if you drink any of it and its very expensive too!!!!!!!.

The sheets had holes in and were dirty, the air conditioning kept going off and it cost us £25 for the week. We had a power cut for 2 days, when we came in on a night time it was pitch black and we couldnt see our way up the stairs to our room, we were bumping into the walls and i fell going up stairs it was that dark, not even any emergancy lighting, which i thought everybody had to have by law. They did however have a diesel generator at the side of the pool which they kept turning on every 2 hours for around 10 minutes which left everybody breathing in diesel fumes, but they only run the generator through the day, not at night.

The fire escapes were bolted locked with a padlock. The shower was 3 foot of the floor. The springs were sticking out of the matterss. One girl had ants in her room and had to be moved. The carpet in the room was so thin and dirty, it stunk. The staff were very hands on around the pool, and made you feel uncomfortable. I would say DONT go to this hotel it is a death trap, if there was ever a fire, which there could be due the doggy wiring, you would burn alive, as you would not be able to get out.It is not a nice place to go, its not for for kids, or for older people or anyone else for that matter, it wants knocking down. THE ONLY THING GOOD ABOUT OUR HOLIDAY WERE THE LOVELY PEOPLE WE MET AND THE BRITISH BAR NEXT TO THE HOTEL.

My girlfriend and I have recently returned from a weeks holiday to Altinkum, Turkey, where we stayed at the First Class Hotel. Having visited Turkey several times before we knew what to expect and the standard of accommodation available to us, however bearing this in mind we were very disappointed with the service received as well as the room and hotel in general.

Our room was very basic, with two separate beds, having requested a double. We knew we had to pay extra for the air conditioning which consistently dripped onto one of the beds, so we moved the beds as help was not given to us and because of this one of the legs fell off!! looking at the beds, they were very old with rusty, wobbly legs!!

A situation that occurred one afternoon after returning from the water park was our key (which was blue for the air conditioning) was given to us with a white tag. the white tag would not work the air conditioning, so we finally managed to convince a member of staff to have a look at the air conditioning unit. He slammed the balcony door thinking it was a problem with that and then realised we had the wrong coloured key (problems with the language barrier as he didn't speak english!) he took the key and white tag with him. HALF HOUR later we wondered what the hell was going on so I went down to reception to find absolutely nothing happening about the situation!! the receptionist was rude and accused us of losing our key, which our rep placed behind the reception desk that morning when picking us up for the water park (reception desk was empty). we explained this and after a long debate he reluctantly gave us a spare blue key. later that evening after returning from dinner our original blue key with our room number on it was at reception where it had been the whole time!!

Due to this mess, the receptionist who looked at our air conditioning unit also broke our balcony door after slamming it so hard! After informing members of staff about our door daily, it was NEVER fixed therefore we could not sit on our balcony for the rest of the holiday.

We knew the standard would be basic, but salty water out of the dripping rusty taps and dripping shower, and plaster hanging off the bathroom ceiling falling on you when showering is extreme. One other factor that we found appalling was that our room was not cleaned the last few days, we pay for this service so personally we believe this is disgusting management and laziness of staff, not a fantastic way of running a hotel.

Although we did not spend a lot of time in the hotel, it is horrible to complain about things while on holiday, but it is unfair to send holiday makers to such a scummy, dirty, rude establishment. this hotel was definitely not 4 star even at Turkish standard.

4 star hotel ..my arse !.we arrived at 5.30 in the morning and entered the hotel which seemed quite quiet and the reception area was well laid out .We opened our broken room door to be met by two single beds barely a foot off the floor with suspect (clean ) sheets on and a blanket that you would wrap your dog in !!!.The room was old .tired and dated and would of quite easily been at home on the set of fawlty towers .My partner and I laughed as we lay in bed looking at our wonderful surroundings !! lol...We pushed the beds together and the mess under the bed showed the room had not been swept / hoovered in months .We were on the first floor with a sea view however the music / noise from the bars below would continue til 2 am plus !!we changed rooms and the second was overlooking the pool . it had recently been painted therefore feeling ten times better.Although the bathroom would be dangerous for elderly/small children as the step down from the shower/bah was 2 foot high and you had to hurdle the toilet to get into it !!The mangager had a fulll blown fight on monday moring in reception in full view of everyone too.Lovely area, lovely location , rubbish hotel !! this is a 2 star hotel nothing more...if your happy for somewhere just to lay your head then its ok but not a 4 star ......we travelled 9-17 th august 08 sufferable but not great and a no no if youve got kids /elderly in your party xx

my husband and i booked this hotel for 2 weeks starting 15th june, we arrived late afternoon, were shown to our room, we unpacked, and went out to eat, we returned late after eating and catching up with friends, we were tired and neededour bed, i tried to lay on my bed, but the springs were comming through the mattress, i went to reception to complain, after trying to explain to the receptionist i gave up and asked for the manager, he was really rude and uninterested, my husband, went to reception and managed to get the girl to understand, and the mattress was replaced. the place was in need of a good clean, breakfast was very poor, when juice runs out at 9.30, they wont top it up even though breakfast is served til 10!!!. the pool is dirty. i have been going to turkey for about 15 years, i know you cant expect to have very good standards, but this hotel was a joke. we checked out after 4 days. what a load of rubbish, dont go and you wont be disappointed

My sister (23) and I (26) have just come back from the First Class Hotel and had a FABULOUS time! We absolutely loved the hotel staff, really friendly and up for a good laugh around the pool. The Manager and Reception staff were also very friendly and supportive.

The hotel is situated in a lovely area, offering lots of options - lively or quiet bars. There is a lovely selection of restaurants which will suit all.

The pool is the nicest in the area. Although the pool is salt water, it is nice and clean.

The British Bar, made our holiday!!!!!! We had such a laugh with all the lovely friendly lads, Ladies, you will definately enjoy the dancers!!!!

I would definately recommend this hotel for young couples, young lads/girls and families.

Highly recommended, see you again very soon hopefully!

this hotel should be called worst class not first class, it is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in, it was dirty, very poorly decorated. There was very loud turkish music from 9am thro to 3am the next day.We could not enjoy the pool as the music was deafening, and the hotel staff were complete idiots, we had to go out everyday to escape the noise. There was only one chair on the balcony and no more available. The sheets did not fit the beds properly therefore making trying to sleep, ( for the couple of hours in between the music ) almost impossible. The shower overflowed onto the bathroom floor every time we showered, the taps were very rusty. The water from the taps tasted very salty, worse than going in the sea. We are in our 50s and just wanted a quiet break, we will definatly not be going back to turkey, we found it a very dirty place.

I give this "Hotel" 1 star only because there is no facility for a zero rating.

The staff were rude and unhelpful. The Manager appeared to be totally uninterested in the guests.

Thank god we only booked B&B, as the food was very poor the same thing every day.

Everything extra had to be paid for at top rates (a/c safe boxes). The bathroom had a Shower in that I struggled to get in and out of and had seen better days.

Below the hotel is the town’s disco area which is in full swing from 7pm till 3am ensuring that sleep is almost impossible.

In the area are plenty of good restaurants although the marketing of these is very aggressive.

We love Turkey and continued our holiday with a second week in Bodrum which restored our faith in the country.

Altinkum will not be seeing us again!

The holiday experience at this hotel has put us off Turkey forever, never again. The hotel was meant to be a 4* but clearly wasn’t; it may have been many, many years ago but I would question that.

The rooms were old and shabby, the toilet was leaking and did so all of the holiday, at one point it would not flush, needed the hotel to sort it out.

The shower was also broken and covered in lime scale, the actual shower base itself was a small cramped bath which was very difficult to transfer in and out of. The beds were uncomfortable with sharp edges; my daughter cut her toe. The sheets and one blanket did not fit the beds.

The TV was supposed to have Sky; yes if you could understand Turkish. The food was predictable and of poor quality with the same items for breakfast being served every day, we were there for two weeks!

The pool although appeared clean on the surface was really quite dirty.

There was absolutely no entertainment and if you wanted to be continually harassed, you could venture out of the hotel.

On arrival we were charged for air conditioning; £90 for two rooms and on departure they wanted to charge us again.

The lift had not being working for a year

The holiday caused a lot of distress for our party, it is not appropriate for children and we would not recommend it to anyone not even for free.

Just got back home after staying in First Class Hotel. What a joke! This hotel has got a 4 star rating more like 0 star.

The bathroom was a disgrace the public toilets were cleaner. Altinkum is a beautiful place and we will go back, but defiantly not staying in First Class.

The music from the disco below was very loud and we didn’t get much sleep. The Hotel management were not helpful at all and just couldn’t be bothered with problems we had, and there were many!

Overall even though Altinkum is great this hotel defiantly spoiled our holiday. I wouldn’t advise anyone to stay here, anytime.

Just got back from staying at Hotel First Class. First of all this Hotel is not a 4 star Hotel it was more like a 2 Star. Rooms were very dated, the bathrooms were so small - only room for one person. Beware you have to pay for the air-conditioning. I got in the shower and couldn’t get out as it was tight and a high step into it.

Also the breakfast was the same all week. We went half board - big mistake, the same again all week; we ended up eating out after the second night.

Location was great, across the road from beach which was fantastic. We walked to Dolpin Square every night - there is loads of bars and restaurants and went to some great bars.

Last thing to say, beware if you travel with Goldtrail, after we landed at 4am there was noone there to take us to our hotel. We had to wait 2 hours after arriving, very angry and feeling tired some taxi driver offered to take us, they said the driver was on his way then they said his car had broke down.

Anyway had a great time in the end, this was not the first time we had been to Turkey, we have been 6 times but different places.

Just back from First Class - never again. Same breakfast for 2 weeks no change, consists of Turkish barbeque sauce sausage, potato croquettes, boiled egg, eggy bread and pancakes and that’s every day!

If you half board it was lamb casserole with rice 1 night, chick the next, nothing for kids, don’t tell you what times meals are, don’t cater for families at all.

Says there a mini club for kids, it don’t exist! Music too loud for kids to sleep unless you in a back room! In the day if you on the pool side room pool music plays very loud all day from ten to seven so if kids want a nap not a chance, staff very rude only 3 or 4 that aren’t, lift doesn’t work and hasn’t for some time!

Quite few kids got infections from pool when we were there. We booked for 3 adults and 1 child, we got a double and single bed no bed for my 4yr old they said we would have to let her sleep with us,in 45 degrees, we asked to be moved cost us 40 extra, air conditioning is 20 pound a week and you definitely need it in August.

This hotel is not a family hotel it is for singles, not a four star at all more of at a push 2 star.
