Marylanza Golf Resort Reviews
" The best Tenerife expierence yet "
Submitted By: magpie1The food was excellent although not always hot enough sometimes. My wife ate so much fish in the 11 days we stayed that I had to stop her trying to return to the sea.
Entertainment was so so but we are not really hotel entertainment types so no bother there. The rooms were very spacious and clean.
I must single out 2 of the reception staff for special praise.
Alicia Atalaya head of reception for her patience and managing a change of rooms for us after the first day. Now this is not your normal "something wrong with our room please move us" We were in the most exclusive location overlooking the golf course and mountains which is actually about 30 euros a day extra. However in January the sun did not get onto the balcony at all. In summer that would be a bonus but that time of year a bit chilly. She gave us the only room just vacated on the side of the building which was fine by us a s we got sun 4 hours in the afternoon. The hotel was and is fully booked for some months yet so she was under a lot of pressure. Thank you Alicia.
The other one was a great guy Rudi Pulyaert (Belgian) he was the most friendly and helpful guy you could ever wish to meet. Any information you wanted was there in seconds and he always greeted us by name.
To sum it up the best hotel experience we have had in our years of globetrotting and this is in most part down to the staff the sun and the great food.
Absolutely recommended.

Would definately go back and actually went on recommendation. We weren't disappointed.

Submitted By: Ms K HollandWhen we asked the maitre de a question he shouted at us to ask reception if we needed information. We had to wait at the pool bar for at least 15 minutes on a number of occassions as the non-all inclusive guests seemed to take priority. The staff were very rude here too.
Reading previous reviews I knew we had to get a safe deposit box but this was an extra cost of 20 euros! The mini market was only open for one day of the holiday. When I asked to borrow an iron I was told that the hotel did not have any as they were never asked for them! I could however pay 10 euros (plus 10 euros deposit) for them to hire from a separate company for me and an additional 5 euros for the ironing board. From speaking to other guests I found the majority of them had been in this position. I would have brought my own but expected a 5* hotel to carry irons.
We just thank ourselves lucky that we did not arrive the week before when some other guests with a small baby and 5 year old twins experienced a disco below their room until 3am on two occassions. They were begged not to make a fuss as the disco was being held for some very important local people. They did offer to move them at 2am but decided against it due to the ages of their children. They had also closed the pool bar so these local people could enjoy themselves without being disturbed by the guests of the hotel!!
We were very pleased that we hired a car at the airport so we could at least escape for a while especially as we were unable to get a sunbed for the first few days during the Spanish bank holiday.
Overall the hotel lets itself down on little things as it could be really nice. The staff are rude and unhelpful, the food is mediocre and the entertainment non existent.

Submitted By: Mr T Sullivani stayed at the marylanza for a week all inclusive from the 20th of may till the 27th and i throughly enjoyed the stay and would recommend it to anyone - young or old. hotel is very modern, all marble floors etc. i've been to tenerife quite a few times and stayed in some dives so it was very pleasing to walk in to this lobby. reception staff quite frienly but will try there best to help you (all the girls on reception very good looking!!), rooms very spacious, big marble floors and bathrooms have twin sinks. you will more than likely not get a sea or pool view as will have to pay extra for but don't worry the normal rooms are more then fine. rooms are cleaned every day with fresh towels whcih was nice. you can hire beach towels there for 10euro deposit. all inclusive does not include snacks at the pool bar!! (however, this was a blessing in disguise for me and my girlfriend as we would have just piled on the weight). the no pool snacks is not a problem as the food served in the restaurant is great. it caters for everyone; young, old, fussy eaters, foreigners etc. we ate here 3 times a day and couldn'e say a bad things about it. breakfast, massive array of fresh fruit, about 5 differents cereals, full englishes, omlettes cooked in front of you, eggs cooked to you liking, pastries, pancakes and syrup, the choice is endless! lunch is 2 pasta choices, a meat and a fish cooked in fornt of you, fresh fruit, loads of sald, breads, chips, pizzas, chicken buggets, more more more. evening meals were simlar to lunch but more choice and obviously more evening meal appropriate types of food. sweets available to both lucng and evening evening meal. sweets aren't the best but you'd be nit picking if you moaned about it. men MUST wear long trousers at eveing meal so make sure you take some! drinks are served by the waiters at luch and evening meal, at breakfast you help yourself to tea, coffee, water, juice from machines and freshly squeezed juice too! bar open till 2400hrs, sprits are locals ones but still ok. gym very very good but costs 6euros a go, or 30euros for the week. spa is top class. you get a free vouchers for it upon arrival wirth 20euro each. make use of it. worth it. hotel entertainment is ok but if you don't like then the nightlife is only a ten minute walk away!!
100% recommend this hotal to anyone!!!!!!

Submitted By: Mr G ToonRooms are beautifully presented, food excellent, staff friendly and professional at all times.
The complex is situated in a peaceful loctaion and in an easy walking distance to main beaches, shops, resturants and nightlife if required, you are 5 minutes away from the main tourist area, but this hotel is situated in the higher class part of los chritianos and las americas.
we highly recommend this hotel as it is completely beautiful.
We are returning to Marylanza This year in September.
" Firstly,

I am not usually the type of person to complain about a hotel.
The staff were lovely and very funny though some of them are still learning English, fair enough.
The food was fantastic!
The location was great, though if you have a little trouble walking i would suggest a taxi, which are very cheap. If you love the night life and dancing the night away then Veronicas in Los Cristianos is the place to be! Also there are a selection of irish bars in Veronicas too, the live entertainment in them is fantastic!
Now to the complaining part, so we got robbed whilst staying in the Marylanza and after speaking to a few people around the hotel we found out that this is not an uncommon thing.
When we reported our misfortune to the reception the staff were very unhelpful.
All i can say is the Marylanza is a lovely hotel the rooms are clean and the cooking facilities for self catering are good, but, make sure you get a safety deposit box!
I hope this helps someone somewhere.

Submitted By: Mr Andy CI have been to Tenerife and specifically Las Americas 4 times in 1971, 1986, 1994 and now in 2007. It has changed beyond recognition every time!
The hotel Marylanza is classed as 4 stars but would certainly not class as a 4 star Hotel in the UK.
It takes more than marble to achieve this. It is a very clean 2 year old Holiday resort Hotel and as such is modern and pleasant to stay at.
The Good:
It is in very good repair. The rooms are cleaned properly every day.
There are 3 pools one of which is well heated and they are all clean.
The restaurant is well serviced by staff and the food is good although they could vary it a bit as after a week it all became a bit monotonous. The free drinks bit is good value but only local cheaper brands are included.
The decor is nice and modern throughout. It is situated in a nice quiet area of an otherwise busy holiday resort. It is about 5-10mins walk from the beach. 10 mins walk from Los Cristianos. 20 mins drive from the Airport.
It is not directly next to any building projects at present, although on the Spa end there is a bit of scruffy waste ground that the rooms that end overlook.
The bath in our room was build to take the larger northern European person and as such was big enough for 2...easily.
The bar staff are eager especially with the measures. It is close [25 min walk] to the Golf course which we did not try out. We did try the Spa pools and Gym which was modern and reasonably priced. The sun!
The Bad:
The coffee sucks.
It rained on our second day and the Hotel leaks like a sieve in the lobby area. Water and Marble =Ice rink and was very dangerous on the stairs. The rooms are leak proof though.
To get to most rooms you have to go along an uncovered corridor and you will get wet if it rains.
The showers by the pool next to the Squash courts don’t drain well and water will end up on the floor outside of the showers and here again water and marble don’t mix.
The hotel receptionists were a bit cold and were there to do a job!
The food was recycled/ re heated a bit but wasn't too bad. We ate out a bit as well so wasn’t a problem and we didn’t end up with Botulism.
The red wine sometimes seemed a bit watered down, there again it was sometimes good.
The entertainment was mediocre, although if you get stuck in you can make it what you want.
There is a funny sewage smell on the 1st floor corridor by the pool.
The Drambuie was not free.
You get a bit bored of drinking for the sake of it, in fully inclusive.
It could have had a tennis court.
The las Americas and los Cristianos area is all a bit.... Blackpool.
Room 116 had a constant hum which was mildly annoying at 2 am when everything is running through your head at the same time.
A couple of Euros stolen from each room once every week is not enough to call the police and ends up as a cute little tip for one dishonest person!!! My son had x2 2 Euro coins removed from his unattended wallet in the room, on the last day...He shouldn’t have left it there unattended...there again it should have been safe.
Conclusion:
If you want a week away in the winter sun with young family, it fits the bill to a tee. I would rather be at the Marylanza than in any of the multitude of other hotels in the Los Disney land/los Cristianos/Las Americas/Adeje area.
It was a pleasant stay on a sometimes beautiful Island, spoiled by Tourism.
If you want proper 4/5* service don’t go to Tenerife; it is a holiday Island and you won’t get it there.
Recommendations....
Ask the bar tender to make your coffee with espresso and not the filtered. They do have an espresso machine hidden in the back!
Comedy Elvis...he was a bit close to the mark on occasions and his humour went straight over the 80% or so non English occupants heads. Don’t miss him if you are game for a laugh.
The tall coloured singer did 80s and rap music a treat and had us rocking.
2 hours in the Spa hit all the right spots.
If you get bored easily, hire a car for the week; we did Loro Park, Los gigantes, Pto la Cruz, Santa Cruz, Icod and The volcano, off our own backs over 3 days. We hired a car from the Airport for under £100 which saved on Hotel transfers and used 40 Euros of fuel and it was great to have the flexibility and freedom to do our own excursions and exploring.
The real Canarian food in non tourist towns where there were no British /Northern Europeans and they don’t speak a word of English, hit the right spot. Just take a dictionary so you know what you have ordered!
And lastly...Save your money and go to Italy in the summer! We do every year... two or three times at least and it knocks spots off Tenerife in every way, in my opinion!
...there again my wife is Sicilian and I love pasta, Italian cars and coffee that cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world... especially downtown UK even though they think they can at costa republic etc!
Actually I shouldn’t recommend Italy as everybody will go there and we won’t have it to ourselves in 2008.ps Ryan air no longer do penny flights to Italy so it will cost at least £20 each to get there!

Submitted By: Mr D MITCHELLThe food was excellent, lots of choice and always fresh and well presented including caviar and smoked salmon and champagne at breakfast. All inclusive definitely a good option. The spa was brilliant; everyone is given a complimentary ticket on arrival.
There are 3 pools and there is some daytime entertainment which is not the best but you don’t have to join in.
The entertainment was ok at night but came on between 9.30-10 and lasted about an hour, hence rating of 9. But the Marylanza is ideally placed for short walk to Las Americas and Los Cristianos if you needed some more entertainment or for shopping,
Checkout was 12 but the code was changed on the door at 11 which meant we had to go back to reception and have the card re programmed which is a bit unfair as it stated 12 but if they’re the only 2 problems with the hotel – well, it can’t be bad.
So overall excellent holiday, it just went too fast. Will try and book for another visit to the Marylanza next year - thanks for a great holiday.

Lovely pools and pool area with some daytime entertainment for all but you don't have to join in if you don't want to.
The entertainment was not too good, hence rating of 9. However, the Marylanza is ideally placed for short walk to all the shopping and nightlife you can handle - if you want it.
Brilliant holiday and would definitely recommend it.

Submitted By: Ms P J CloverThe food was varied and there was plenty of choice and it didn't matter what time you went for your meal there was always a full range of choice. Evening meal times were 1830-2130 which was ideal depending if you were going out or just coming in.
All the hotel staff were some of the best we have ever encountered in Tenerife, very friendly and genuinely pleased to see you (Marcelo in the restaurant was particular lovely). Absolutely no sun bed rush in the mornings, more than enough to go round, all day. Loved the different stalls on an evening selling jewellery, bags etc.
The only negative things I would say are: The evening entertainment is sadly lacking, any 'lets stay in the hotel tonight' is not worth doing. The bar closes at midnight (with no exception). You can't even BUY a drink. We arrived just before midnight so managed one drink then had to go out to find somewhere to eat. As we have been to Tenerife a number of times we had the advantage of knowing where to go. A complimentary pack in your room would be a nice touch and would be very much appreciated after travelling.
Don't be fooled by the 'Golf Resort' in the name. The only advantage is a 10% discount and it's still pretty pricey so 'our men folk' chose not to play. On the plus we didn't see any flying golf balls! As we were on the other side overlooking the road and sea, we never even saw the golf course.
Overall we had a lovely 10 days and would recommend this hotel as the cleanliness, friendliness of the staff, and the food was faultless.

Pool was very nice, one kid pool and one big pool was heated. Always clean :)
Hotell rooms (appartments) was so clean and nice.
Just beside the golf course, we had view to the course.
Just 10 minuttes walk to beach, very nice and clean beac. Nice retaurants, and lots of shops, good shops.
The food at the hotell was a 10 point!! best ever at a hotell, freash, so much to choose from, something for everybody :)
would recommend this for older people as much as for family people :) (we had to small kids with us)
Advice: Very nice place
