We are just back from two weeks at this resort, but would not recommend it or stay again. The Studio apartment we were offered at first was like an oven and the size of my small lounge with too much furniture. When I opened the door I nearly passed out with the heat, no... more

We booked this hotel with some trepidation as it seemed a lot cheaper than other holidays. We need not have worried, place was clean, apartment spacious and very close to beach. We booked through Thomas Cook. One word of warning, via Thomas Cook you could end up in one of... more

After reading one of your reviews entitled 'warning' I was sceptical of our weeks stay at the CPO since this was a last minute booking with Cosmos due to Easyjet letting us down. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by a quiet and tranquil place (admittedly it is... more

Brilliant
Brilliant hotel - cannot fault it. The complex is massive. Not all views are as good as one another, some get a pool view, some a beach view, some a garden view. Hotel is very clean - pool is massive and pool bar is very large - always space and tables available. Love the fact that they have an onsite sauna room in the gardens, and 4 bubble pools, 2 by the main pool and 2 in the gardens by the sun-deck which overlooks the sea and is very picturesk. Rooms are of a good standard - some studios are smaller than others but at the end of the day - you are in your room to sleep, eat breakfast and store your clothes! You should spent more time than that in your hotel room when you are somewhere as great as the Algarve!! Albufeira and Oura beaches are very pretty, very sandy, you can do watersports there (parasailing reccommended - only 35 Euros each and 10 Euros for someone to come out on the boat and spectate) - lots of fun! The guys running it are a good laugh as well. Reception staff are lovely, the bar staff are all lovely as well - shout out to Marcio and Pedro and Cristiano who does Entertainment there. The Entertianment is a few caberet shows, Bingo and all the normal holiday Entertainments! Theres so much to see and do here, so don't spend all the time in the bar but its a great place to start your night and all the staff are very friendly! All in all a great place to stay and when I come into some money i'll be investing in a timeshare apartment there me thinks!
Great Place
Just returned from clube praia da oura had a fab time this is a very nice complex in a good situation not to far not to near i had a room overlooking the beach and was very happy there is loads to do there for all ages..the strip is a 5 min walk away although i found this a bit like southend sea front! the old town is much nicer and is about 4 euros in a taxi or you can walk if you dont mind the odd hill!!..i would say there are a lot of hills one near to the hotel is nicknamed cardiac hill!!..and it lives up to its name for sure...the beach is lovely you have a busier beach where they do all the watersports but where i was was a more private beach in a little cove sunbeds with a parasol and table where 13euros for the day..the sea takes no prisoners there and can be quiet ruff! the waves will take you off your feet so becareful if you have kids but if your an adult then its great fun although you do look silly!!..i would defo go back there and would recommend to anybody we went with directholidays try them they seem much cheaper than others for the same hotel....now my bad points and there isnt many...we had a studio there is 2 types of studio one is smaller than the other and you guessed it ours was a smaller one but overlooking the beach made up for it..the check out system is a little naughty you cannot keep you room and have to be out by 10am with really no other room for you to use although they do look after you cases for you so your free to wander off for you last few things..i feel the complex is quiet badley lit of a nite there is a quiet a few steps around the complex and of a night should be lit better..although there are lifts in the complex..but those are just minor gripes i sure you will enjoy it...
Loved CPO
Stayed in CPO 1 wk Sept 2006. Very large 2bed 2bathroom apt for 4 adults. Large terrace with 3 sun loungers etc. overlooking pool. Excellent fit out, very high standard. No air conditioning which we could have done with as it was quite hot. Would go back again. Marie, Dublin.
Good Holiday
Stayed at CPO 2 weeks July August 2006. Took out 17 yr old son and his friend. Had two studio apts next to each other. Apts very clean each patio balcony had own sun beds so as we got sun until early afternoon we could lie out there if we wanted. Public areas of CPO very small for the huge size of complex., reception aways seemed crowded. Staff were pleasant but as there is a timeshare owner system there they seem to be more interested in that. Beware of the free meal offered by phonecall to your room they will try to sell you a timeshare, we were warned by our rep. Our return flight was in evening but we could not extend our check out time which was a stupidly early 10am. The room change facilty after that was poor and we were offered only the pool change areas in the basement which were not adequate. However that said the Praia da Oura and Albufeira area is great place for a holiday. The beaches are beautiful but beware of tide times. Our son and his friend had an absolute ball and made lots of friends including Portuguese and would love to go back. It is a very popular place for Portuguese to holiday. You can walk into Albufeira from CPO in about 35 minutes easy walking. Old Albufeira is lovely. There is a tourist land train that runs regularly to Albufeira a circular journey with 3 stops. Pick up near CPO is just off the"strip" near main intersection. Ideal in evening as it runs till late. Restaurants to recommend are Dolce Vita which is in a side street between Strip and another main road, also Paulus which is on main road coming into Praia, good value menu. Restaurants are generally cheaper the further up strip you go. Beware of the bread and olives etc that willl be given to you at start of meal called Couvert they are charged for whether you ordered them or not. The pavements are made up of small cobbled tiles and are quite uneven so be careful if you have walking difficulty or wheelchairs. They get slippy if wet too. There is an Algarve Shopping Center slightly out of town that you can visit on trips or by car etc but frankly it isn't worth it it is quite small compared to what we have in GB so you can't spend much time there. We took a trip to Seville for day and enjoyed that very much.
Kids loved it!
We have just come back from CPO. have no complaints at all Kids loved it. Beach fab, weather v. hot! food very reasonable. (didnt eat at CPO as we thought it looked expensive). We went to slide and splash and again couldnt fault it, just remember to take a parasol as there is no shade at all....Would love to go back as we were there for a week, 10 days would have been nicer.
Third year at CPO
Third year at CPO/OP, our daughter loves it, she has made many friends. Although this year we have been a bit disappointed with the entertainment at night. Last 2 years there was a good disco which kept teenagers interested, it would finish at 2am. But this year for some reason it would finish at 1am and a tape put on til 2am. It is hard keeping teenagers dancing to the same boring music every night, they like a DJ there to play requests. But that is the only complaint we have. Accomodation was excelent and very clean. We may go again next year, depends on our daughter.
Loved Clube Praia da Oura
Was looking for a relaxing place to spend a week and found Clube Praia da Oura in Albufeira - I've found a place I actually like on the coast. It's a bustling, down-to-earth, fun resort with big pool, restaurants and bars with a real community feel - met some great people, and loved the staff, lots of great local people working here. Nice activities, and we had an apartment overlooking the A front - lovely. Better in my opinion than the rather snooty Vale do Lobo along the coast. Word of warning - if you're looking for peace and quiet (unless it's longstay in the winter) and fine dining it's not one for you (try Four Seasons Vilamoura, or Fairways, or Quinta do Lago). Also, there are a lot of steps (positive in my view as it keeps you fit, and there are lifts!!) But if you're a sociable type who likes meeting other people and enjoying the pool and bars this is a first-class down-to-earth resort with great views over the beach. It's not upmarket in many people's eyes but we met lots of families and teenagers (from the timeshare side I think) who loved it, one family of six with four boys who stayed overlooking the big main pool thought it was great and wouldn't go anywhere else with pools, discos, football, and even a mobile sauna in the garden!! Loved it! And another couple who'd ben here for 6 weeks... Surprised some of the views have been so unkind to it.
Fantastic!!
Just came back from a week in Praia da Oura and I have to say that I had a fantastic time and I would definitely go again! Me and a friend went for a chilled out holiday and we got that for sure! We had a room over looking the beach! What more can you ask for! I have been holidays before where you don't feel safe however I never once felt worried that someone was going to break in.. even to the point where we slept with the balcony door completely open (Which was our front door).. Although it was too hot to leave it shut! ;o) The cleanliness of the hotel was top notch.. couldnt fault it! We noticed that there are a lot of apartments where you could get a 'not so good' view. Ie no sea or pool so I think it is luck of the draw! (Be warned) We were so close to everything.. 30 sec walk to the beach, 5/10 min walk to the strip with lots of bars and restaurants (however it still feels very family orientated) and I have been told a 3 Euro taxi drive to the 'Old Town'. Oh.. one tip.. If you go on the trip to the Gypsy Market.. you may get lost... it goes on for miles and in no particular direction.. Try asking the portuguese where the Bus Station is! It will keep you amused for hours!! Have a great time! x
Excellent Recommendation
After staying in the Montechoro area (Visachoro) last year, we decided to stay at this hotel for 3 reasons: Firstly it was right on the beach. Second, it looked clean and well kept plus several work mates had stayed and recommended it and thirdly it was a much shorter walk to the Strip than it was from Visachoro. I felt the enitre hotel grounds and apartment were clean and well kept, the only minor grumble with the room being we had to pull out the 2nd Bed each night. We did feel the prices at the bar were excessive, but the easy solution was to leave the complex and walk 10 yards across the road to the nearest bar!!! As for comments I'd read on here about building work taking place, there was nothing apart from some blokes recovering the restaurant roof. And although they were doing this all day long, there was no noise whatsoever! Overall, we had a great fortnight and have just booked directly with the hotel to go back for a week in February next year. Got myself a quality bargain of £220 for 2 people for a week! Just what the doctor ordered to banish those Winter Blues!
Hated every minute!!!!!!!!!!!!
I Booked this place based on a recommendation from a travel agent, big mistake. it is a huge faceless complex with ignorant reception staff . It was a 15 minute walk from reception to our apartment, it has to be said that the apartment was good though, a 2 bed with balcony/terrace and 4 sun beds. The location was good ,next to beach with good sea views from our balcony. The so called kids club was a disaster with nobody available at any time during the day so that ruled that out. The nightly entertainment was in a dark ,smokey, seedy bar with ignorant staff once again. Every day we were plagued by "time share" sales people. Then i got food posioning in the over priced restaurant. There was work going on in the complex for the full two weeks and we had drills, hammers banging from 8am to 6pm every day and not so much as a "sorry for inconvenience" from reception. This complex is a complete disaster and we were delighted to be leaving. If i got a free holiday to this complex i wouldnt take it. The palyground for kids is 10 years old and consists of nothing except a small swing and some other worn toys. The worst holiday ever ,the best part was waving goodbye!!!!!!
