This is our fourth time at Clube Praia da oura using my uncles' time share. The apartments are clean and spacious and fully equipt with all that you need. The maids work extremely hard and were very friendly and helpful.
The weather in October was variable with a couple of cloudy days however it was still very hot and sunny.
There was lots to do at the complex with two pools and the complex is situated right on the beach. our days were spent on the beach with a picnic although there is a very reasonable beach bar with lovely ice creams.
We ate out most evenings as away from the complex there are numerous restaurants which are very reasonably priced. Just round the corner is a chinese restaurant which has a eat as much as you want buffet for 9 euros and the food was fantastic. we also ate at "little britain" which served a lovely sunday dinner for 8 euros and lots of veg!!
The children loved the entertainers and they work so hard for very little money. They made sure the children were happy and interacted with them whenever they saw them around the complex. Cristiano and Bruno were particularly good and earned every penny.
I would recommend this complex to everyone.

JUST RETURNED FROM 2 WEEKS AT C.P.O. AND I HAVE TO SAY IT IS A LOVELY PLACE TO STAY.THE ONLY THING THAT STOPS ME GIVING IT 10/10 IS THE LACK OF AIR CON.ALL ROOMS HAVE A FAN BUT STILL GET VERY HOT.THE PLACE IS KEPT EXTREMELY CLEAN,THE STAFF ARE ALL VERY FRIENDLY,HELPFUL AND POLITE.AND THE AMENITIES ARE VERY GOOD.IF YOU GO OUT AND ABOUT I CAN RECOMMEND THE CHINESE RESTAURANT OPPOSITE THE PRAIA OURA HOTEL WHERE YOU CAN EAT ALL YOU WANT FROM A FANTASTIC BUFFET RANGE FOR 8.95 EUROS AND A BOTTLE OF HOUSE WINE IS 6.25 EUROS.THRE ARE SOME GREAT PLACES TO EAT ON THE STRIP BUT I CAN HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE DOURADO RESTAURANT WHERE THEY SERVE A MONKFISH KEBAB TO DIE FOR.ALL IN ALL I WOULD RECOMMEND THE C.P.O. TO ANYONE WHO FANCIES GOING TO THE ALGARVE FOR A GREAT HOLIDAY,I NEVER SAW ONE UNHAPPY FACE THERE DURING MY STAY.

We booked our holiday last minute so didn,t realy know what to expect, we had booked an apartment but on arrival after waiting several hours for the room to be cleaned we arrived at the door of our studio ! Just one room and a bathroom the bed was two single "camp beds" one under the other with collapseable legs, also the room had no air conditioning, just a fan on the wall. Once in the room we had problems with the bath tub draining after taking a shower and a smell coming from the plug hole, after contacting reception over a period of 4 days the problem was not solved, to this day i think maybe the plug hole is still blocked !!

On the upside the room had a great veiw of the sea and sun all day, the cleaning staff are good and clean to a high standard, their was a good standard of equipment to cook with. The CPO is in a good location not far from resturants, bars the beach and a short walk for the bus to Albfura, but there are a lot of steps around the complex and it's on a hill so if you have problems walking don't go.

I wouldn't pay full price to go to this hotel but if you get a cheap deal it does the job especialy if you just want sun, as for Portugal it's our 2nd time there and it's as good as ever.

Stayed two weeks at CPO in August and thought it was great. Had a great apartment with sea view apartment was well equiped. Cleaning service every other day with fresh towels and linen. Staff were very friendly and very helpful entertainment was ok more for kids. The pool area was good and well looked after. There was a beautiful beach only a few yards from the back of the complex. For to get to the main strip there was quite a steep hill but after a few days we discovered a lift in the hotel which took you up to the road. The strip itself was very busy with lots of restaurants shops and bars. The bad points was there was no air conditioning which was badly needed and lack of sunbeds at the pool unless you got up very early.Overall we had a great holiday and would go back to CPO with a sea view apartment.

Stayed in the CPO for a week ( you can be put in CPO or sister hotel Oura Praia ) and while the apartment was spacious, very clean and had everything you need to self cater the downside was it's location and lack of air conditioning. It went up to 40 degrees while we were there and the fan supplied in the room didn't do much at all. We were in K block at the very top of the complex which wasn't that bad (facing the supermarket) The main problem was the music coming from a bar/club over from the block, as it was still blasting out most nights until 3 or 4am!!!!! The CPO is a really big complex and if you're given an apartment down at the bottom near the Ocean Bar/bowling green it is a much nicer and quieter part to be in. A few people said they'd asked to be moved but there was nothing available. We spent a lot of our time at the Oura Praia Hotel which is much smaller, staff were really helpful and friendly and we were able to get a sun lounger easily enough whenever we used the pool there! There was no chance of getting one at CPO as said in other reviews. I think people must come out and put their towels on them at daybreak and then go back to bed!!!

Praia da Oura is a lovely resort, plenty to do what with the gorgeous beach and easy to get the tourist train into the Old Town which was great. Plenty of shops, restaurants and bars on The Strip and pretty reasonable for meals. We went to Zoomarine and Slide & Splash, both were well worth the money and we had a great day out at both. We would go back to the resort but not to CPO.

Just returned from CPO with my our two girls aged 6 and 3. It was our first time in Portugal and we were really looking forward to it. We had read hundreds of reviews and we were confident we had made the right choice, afterall it was costing us 3600 euro so it had to be A1....Right ?On arrival we were checked in very quickly and professionally. Having a quick look around the reception area I was already disappointed with the set up. Our luggage was taken up to our room which was magnificent with a fabulous view of the beautiful beach. The room was spotless and very spacious . It had eveything we needed, Iron, Hairdryer, Safe, and the kitchenette was very well equiped with loads of plates dishes etc.The whole complex is beautiful and clean and only 2 minutes down to the most beautiful beaches we have ever seen. Our Rep was very helpful and always cheerful and always gave us great advice on how to get the best deals for th waterpark and Zoo Marine Which is well worth a visit. Now sadly the bad points. Whoever designed this complex really needs to go back to college. Firstly the main pool..you need to get out of bed at about sunrise to secure a sun lounger which are always to close to each other and are placed too close to the pool ,which makes it very dangerous for anyone let alone a 3 year old to walk around. Then there is the baby pool which is situated at least 400 metres away on the opposite end of the complex with no sunloungers at all. So every morning we had to set up camp on the grass beside the baby pool ,and one of us would bring our 6 year old to the big pool...... not the ideal family holiday I would say.As for a kiddies club, forget about it. Colouring picture books was the highlight of the day.In the evening there was either a kiddies disco or face painting. This was in the the so called function room situated just off the reception. It was the smallest darkest depressing room I have ever seen with no natural light, which by the way you are not allowed to bring a buggy into. The entertainers are just punchin in the hours and have no interaction with the kids. We did use the pool across the road in Oura Beach View which is great but we had to tresspass. We found our own entertainment at night in Old Town or on The strip. So sad to say is all we used this huge complex to do was sleep. The resort itself is very hilly so need to worry about putting on holiday weight. Loads of great restaurants around.Resort itself is lovely and we had a great holiday but that was down to us ourselves making the most of it.

So if you have kids under the age of 10 do not book this Hotel.

Stayed at CPO for one week in a studio. Lack of air-con is a big issue, given the Algarve heat, although our studio did not have hordes of people walking past like many do.

The layout of the complex means lots of stairs which can be a pain with luggage or shopping and the lifts are few and far between and very old.

Transfers are expensive, and using viadirect unsatisfactory - we sat on a coach at Faro for over an hour while it filled up and then took over an hour to complete a 35 minute journey - get a cab or hire a car.

Otherwise the facilities are Ok and the staff good but not exceptional - the main advantage of CPO being the great location directly on the beach.

This hotel is fantastic however BEWARE - NO AIRCONDITIONING. This spoilt my holiday as it was 38 degrees and the room was like a furnace - could not sleep and getting ready to go out was torture. I asked about aircon and the receptionist advised no plans for several years.

This is a shame as i would have gone back year after year, alot of people who were there were complaining about this so i hope they decide to get it sooner rather than later.

Fantastic view of the Atlantic and great location for the strip.

ALSO TAKE LOTS OF MONEY - VERY VERY EXPENSIVE.

This was our first time to Portugal as a family and we would definitely go again. Everything about this holiday was fantastic (apart from the weather which was cloudy a lot of the time). CPO is fantastic and has everything you could possibly want if you have children and can imagine that if you wanted a quiet time you would get that too. Lots to do and not far from the strip, the beach on your doorstep and two pools. The accommodation we had was a 1 bed apartment and was massive with a huge balcony - we have never stayed anywhere where the kitchen was so well equiped and the accomodation was so clean and lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay (May 08) and would recommend it to anyone, we heard whilst there that it will not be available soon however because it will be timeshare only - don't know if this is true and if so is a great shame to people like us, so suggest you get in quick before this happens. We read some bad reports about the resort before we went so was a bit apprehensive but they must of been either extremely fussy or went to a different place to us (it is possible that it has just been done up because everwhere was so new and fresh and they may have gone before this - bad luck I say!! It was gorgeous for us). The Strip was good for the first few nights but got a bit fed up with it by the end and we catered for ourselves a lot (quite expensive we thought to eat out all the time) but went to several bars in the evening. One that we went to most nights was great on the strip called 'The Empty Glass' the guy in there was great and as soon as we sat down with the kids produced a 'Connect 4' game for them to play, we have one at home and since coming back has had a revival - it was really good fun and he will even go and order food at the cafe/restaurant next to him for you and bring it to your table - there is a Frogs (Pizza's) next door the other side and you can do the same there - our kids seemed to get hungry in the evening even though they had eaten earlier so it was great. Highly recommend if you just like people watching and sipping a beer or a small bottle of Mateus Rose on a warm evening. Wish I was still there.

Brilliant holiday. Superb weather for the fortnight we stayed. All staff most friendly and helpful. Our room was spaceous and clean with everything supplied. As bowlers we also enjoyed our time on the green the only comment we would make is the carpet is showing signs of getting tired and worn out and could do with replacing. The major grouse we had was the early morning start (3am to the airport eventually arriving at the complex at about 11am having to wait until nearly 6pm for our apartment to be ready. This is really something that CPO needs to sort out, surely this could be organised better. This was our 7th holiday here and hope 2009 we will be there again.

absolutely loved the c.p.o. staff were very helpful, and room was kept spotlessly clean.although a word of warning about the cost of drinks at the complex, which were very expensive,so much so that we didnt have a drink there in the 2 weeks we stayed.but when you realise there are 3 bars round the corner serving beer at one euro a pint youre not going to.we went in april of this year(2008) but were told the prices do go up later in the season.the weather was great for the most part reaching mid 80s on 3 or 4 days although it rained heavily for 3.make sure you pack a brolly we wish we had ,cos when it rains it rains big!!.it also gets very cold at night which we didnt know about.loads of great eateries the best being the "happy house"just a 2 min walk from the c.p.o.all you can eat chinese restaurant for under 9 euro.also a fantastic little bar over the road called the "oura bar"run by dario.didnt think much of the so called "strip"looked like a miny version of las americas in tenerife(but cleaner)it even has a linekars bar.where ,if you like horse racing like me,you can have a bet.the other place for a gamble is the "gold spot bar"in albufeira old town, which is great but can be pricey.overall holiday was fab and we going again next year

This was a last minute decision and I'm glad we made it.

The apartments were clean and recently refurbished. There was always plenty to do and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly.

Most evenings were spent either in Amandas, where I took part in a karaoke for the first time (!!), and in the music bar.

The daytime we spent walking and bathing on that beautiful coast.

The old town of Albufeira is a must and there is even an escalator down to the town if you are not up to the steep slope.

Eating out is easy. There are plenty good restaurants around, particularly the Sizzling Stone near the bottom of the Strip where you can eat directly from a sizzling stone plate. You are supplied with a bib to save your clothes being sizzled.

The only let down was the Vivaldo restaurant along the front where we have fish fillets which were as high as the prices. How they could have cooked the fish without noticing the high stench emanating is anyone's guess. We were offered 20% off next time but I certainly wouldn't return even for a 95% discount.

Wow this has been one of our best holiday resorts !! so much so we have been 3 times now!!

Staff are all very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them.

The apartments are all very clean, with balconys, some overlooking the sea.

Loads to do on the complex eg: Bowls, outdoor giant Chess/Chequers, games room, facilities and play room for the tots, a wonderful restaraunt on the beach, plus much more!! beautfull landscaped gardens, we were there at the end of November, they had Christmas trees lit, and the surrounding areas were all decorated with christmas lights it was absolutely spectacular!!

Local area has many bars and restaraunts, just a 10 minute walk away with very good prices, although in November some were closed. Can imagine it to be a wonderfully lively place to be of an evening in the summer months!!

There are buses that run frequently to different towns, and a little train that you can hop on and off as and when you wish taking you on trips around the surrounding areas.

Quite hilly though if you have walking difficulties.
