apartments very nice.but not much point booking 1 bedroom as when you shut the door the other room has no light.fab location 20 metres from sea, paradise pool and bar excellent.what ever you do never book night flight as there are no facilities at all for showeringand it was impossible to book a late room.the owners were the most unhelpful people to deal with. do go in virago bar spiros and vicky are lovely and show the true face of greek hospitality.As for the resort it is typical greek lots of restaurants handfull of bars .if you have young kids the water park is a must but book it in town not with rep save yourself a few euros same for most of the trips.on the whole i would recomend seaview but only with a decent time flight.

We have just returned from our two week holiday. We stayed at the Paradise last year and wanted something a bit more modern for this year. We were not disappointed. The Seaview apartments were fab, they are only a few years old so everything is nice and new and especailly clean and tidy, the shower even has a shower curtain, which is a huge bonus as your loo does not get all wet when showering.
Do not be put off by the fact that you share a pool with Paradise apartments, if you are unable to get round the pool the sea is literally on your doorstep, every aparment has a glorious view and is lovely and quiet, air conditioning was cheap at 5€ per night and if you go in July and August you will be needing it, we had wall to wall sunshine everyday and the temperatures were in the mid-late thirties and mid twenties at night!
The pool bar at the Paradise is great everyone is friendly and they have a really good menu, something for everyone. Virago's bar is the best in Alikes, Vikki and Spiros make everyone welcome, the cocktails are especially good and the beer is cheap!
I would have no hesitation in recommending the Seaview Apartments to anyone, in fact we have just booked for next year!
The only slight irritant other than the mozzies, was the fact that if you wanted to get round the pool you had to be up by 07.00 and get your towels down!

Just back from 2 relaxing weeks in sea view apartments, Alykes. Travelled with husband and two children aged 6 & 5. Not many reviews to be found however thanks to the previous reviews we did go ahead and book these apartments.
What a fantastic location. The apartments were very clean when we arrived which is a good start! They are cleaned on a daily basis, linen and towels changed every second day. The one bedroom apartment is basic however equals many apartments we have encountered in the past. The Paradise Pool Bar is about a minutes walk so no worries there (as having no pool for children was a little bit of a concern when booking). Paradise Pool Bar was great. Food served all day and the staff very friendly. Four steps away from the Paradise Pool Bar/Sea View apartments is one of the best bits about the location. A wonderful pebble beach and the sea is absolutely gorgeous. Very safe beach as you can walk out to sea for a good 600 metres and it is still only at your thighs due to sand banks. My first experience of a pebble beach and I much prefer it - so do the kids however it's only a few minutes walk along the pebbles and you'll find the sandy beach.
We took a taxi to Zante town and were advised not to pay more than 17 Euros each way by locals and always agree a price before entering taxis. Our taxi cost 16 Euros each way and we had a lovely time wandering around the shops, lunching and looking at the great boats in the harbour.
Restaurants to visit
Olympic is one of the nicest restaurants I have experienced anywhere, never mind on holiday. Due to the reviews I read prior to going to Alykes I made a point of going there with my family for a meal, so thanks to all who recommended the Olympic as it made our holiday! We also went back for our last nights meal which made it a little special. This restaurant is a must and to see more look at www.olympicbar.com
Maestro is also great, serve great greek dishes one of which I had and was fantastic. They also make great pizzas in the traditional pizza ovens and again I would recommend this restaurant.
Ambrosia is also recommended by us as we had lovely meals here and the waitress gave us the valuable information about the taxis prices to Zante.
We visited many restaurants whilst here and the above are the standouts. The only bad experience we had (and subsequently found other holidaymakers had the same bad experience) was in the Apollo, which is a shame because it's the nearest restaurant to Sea View/Paradise Bar. My first meal in Alykes was here and I had a Tuna Salad as I wasn't too hungry. As soon as I ate it I fely very unwell and had to return to my apartment and leave husband and kids at restaurant. I was violently sick, scooting from the bottom (sorry, trying to make it sound more pleasant than it was) and I also had an allergic reaction (body turning red blotches all over and heart racing) which resulted in doctor being called and I had to get an injection of Cortizol although she was swithering about taking me to hospital. As you can imagine, this being our first night, it somewhat spoiled our first impression. However, after recovering approx 24 hrs later we then went on to have a fantastic holiday. So this restaurant I would NOT recommend.
Bars
We visited the Virago Bar which makes lovely cocktails (and kids alcohol free cocktails) I recommend you try the Banana Daquiri, FAB! Staff lovely.
Please also have a few drinks at the Paradise Pool Bar in the evening as for some reason it was always quite quiet however Dimitri behind the bar is lovely and loves to chat. Maybe because its not in the town as such.
Alykes is a fabulous resort for couples and young families wanting a relaxing time by the sea. Please visit the Olympic restaurant - no I'm not getting paid to promote, this restaurant really made a family meal quite romantic for my husband and I......if you have kids....you will understand this.
We will return to the Sea View and Alykes in the future and if you are thinking about booking, you will not be disappointed.

Just got back from a glorious 2 week stay in these apartments, we went with my two children and 5 grandchildren and we stayed in 3 apartments. We got the best view, room 18 overlooking the sea, although all apartments have a spectacular sea view. The apartments were spotlessly clean with nice big balconies, air con and unusually a hairdryer! The maids came in everyday and the sheets and towels were changed every other day. The pool next door was where we spent most days which is also clean, and the owners are friendly and helpful. Food is reasonably priced too.
We are already looking to book again and will definitely recommend these apartments to others.

First time in Alykes and although we want to go to lots of other destinations we will definately go back to the Seaview. The location was perfect with pool,beach and everything you could want right on hand! Add the cleanliness,friendliness and gorgeous food it was a perfect holiday! Just a few minutes stroll to the main street where we didnt have a bad meal in any of the restaurants. We would recommend the train or the "wally trolly" as the rep called it! It takes you out of resort and with as much wine as you want available at the taverna you stop at you will be waving at everyone coming back! Having stayed at other Greek apartments we were really pleased with the Seaview and would highly recommend it. Owner was usually to be found at the Paradise pool which is available to all at the Seaview and we spent a lot of time there and always had beds. Food there also great. Sea is only a few steps from pool so the best of all worlds! Views from rooms fantastic,sea,mountains and kefalonia! We are already planning when we will go back!

These apartments are lovely, very clean and well furnished, The only minor gripe I would have is that the shower curtain is strange!! but then you don't normally get a shower curtain in Greece. The view from the balcony is amazing and the position although away from the centre of Alykes was ok for us, but it could prove difficult for someone with walking difficulties. The apartments are owned by the Mayor of Alykes.
This is our 3rd visit to Alykes and once again it doesn't dissapoint, the hospitality shown by locals and brits working there is wonderful, we shall certainly be returning.

Third time in Alykes, the apts not to bad nice and roomy, lovely and clean. Just far enough away from crosswords. Got pool next door really laid back, just one suggestion go for a walk round saltflats before breakfast. SBD

Well what can I say? The sea view apartments were everything we were hoping for and more. We LOVED them. Perfect location in paradise. We didn't even mind the cockerel's who had dementia!
They we spotlessly clean and very well maintained and well equipped. They even supply the loo roll! The owners were very helpful too replacing our light-bulb immediately and giving me a brand new tin opener when I asked. They were only ever around in the morning though. The views were wonderful and we were very lucky with the weather, only a couple of mins of rain in the week we were there.
Little supermarket close by which had soft fresh rolls and doughnuts every morning. Cheaper for most things and fresher fruit than the main supermarket in Alykes too! (although not as well stocked).
The best meal we had was at the Piccadilly Hotel, everything was superb. A taxi from the airport cost 23 euros and from Alykes to Alykanas which is well worth a visit was 7 euros. It is in walking distance but after a few scoops much easier to ride home. We so didn't want to leave and can't wait for next May when we will be returning. 10/10.

I booked my holiday at the Seaview Apartments and was surprised to find so little information on them. I read the review on this site which reassured me a bit but I have to say I was a bit apprehensive wondering what it was going to be like. The coach dropped off other people at their apartments and theirs all looked lovely - when the coach pulled up at Seaview there was a bit of a walk from the bus and at first you couldn't see them so I thought that they would be awful - I am delighted to report that they are not. The apartments were beautiful. They had been maintained to a very high standard - all the grout in the shower room was white! The floor tiles and walls were amazingly white. They were cleaned every day and the sheets and towels were changed 4 times in our two week stay. The view from our bedroom was absolutely stunning. Every morning we had breakfast on our balcony with the most amazing view of the pale blue sea and Kefalonia in the distance.
The pool next door at the Paradise apartments was fabulous. It was a tiny walk to get to it and there was never any shortage of sunbeds or umbrellas. The pool snacks were great - the paradise burger is to be recommended as is their fresh orange juice - made before your eyes with fresh oranges! You could walk to the sea from the pool but it was very pebbly - we ended up wearing flip flops to get in. Once in the sea there was a lovely sandy shelf which was very shallow and warm. My kids spent hours there on their airbeds. The staff at the apartments and the pool were excellent. They were friendly but not obtrusive. A sandy beach is only a two minute walk along the pebbly part where we were.
The resort of Alikes was perfect for us - all the eating places were family orientated - not too many bars aimed at singles/18-30's. There was a lovely bakery, supermarket and plenty of watersports. If you want a really busy nightlife with loads of clubs this is probably not for you but if you want lively/family nightlife this resort is ideal. I would recommend the Olympic Kitchen Bar Restaurant for beautiful food and excellent service.

In Zante itself there was lots to do from hiring mopeds/quad bikes/cars to boat trips, water sports, water parks, greek nights - I could go on but I am sure you will discover them yourself! We have just returned from a fabulous holiday and if you are thinking of going there I am sure you will too.

I have just returned from a 7 night stay at the Sea view apartments with my partner.
We found the accommodation to be basic but clean. There was a fridge, hob, and kettle. There was the option of air conditioning at 5 euro per day but we didn't use it as we found the breeze from the sea cooled the room down.
There was also the option to hire a safe for 10 Euros per week which we did use for money, passports etc.
The maid came every day and cleaned throughout the apartment & our towels were changed half way through the week.
The view from our room was superb (all rooms have a sea view) and we felt safe enough to leave our balcony doors open night & day to let the breeze through.
We didn't really see much of the hotel owners, but when we did they were very helpful.
The hotel is about a 10 - 15 minute walk from the centre of Alykes - we hired a quad bike for 5 days (55 Euros) which was well worth it as we got to see most of the island and it was also handy for popping to the shops etc.
There is a small shop, bar and restaurant about a 3 minute walk from the hotel if you wanted to stay close to the hotel.
Last year we stayed in Alikanas which is very similar, if you hire a quad or car we recommend you visit their beach as the beach at Alykes is very pebbly, however it is right on your doorstep.
The hotel also has its own gardens, overlooking the sea, with use of sun loungers if you wanted to sun-bathe.
If you do stay in Alykes we would definitely recommend you go to the Palm Tree bar and the Olympic bar/Kitchen, as these were by far the best bar and restaurant in the resort.
Overall it was a very enjoyable holiday and we would recommend both hotel and resort to others who are seeking a relaxing holiday with plenty of good food and drink to choose from.
We would definitely stay again and plan to do so in September.

Overall if you like Alykes you will love it here Hi to The Calander girls and their date had a nice time with them maybe meet again June 2011.
Advice: nice relaxing resort with a village feeling nice bars and resturants
Activities: paradise resturant facing salt flats whispers bar and cheers bar
