We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were spotless and very well equiped. As with an earlier report we'd give it ten were it not for the poor outlook from our balcony. A new supermarket just up from the Aiolis on the main road has everything..including fresh rolls for breakfast.
Kalogria beach just below the appartments has all that you need.....lovely sand, sunloungers/brollies, some bars and tavernas. Its absolutely ideal for kids. Only downside is the water temp....there are freshwater springs just offshore that make it very chilly indeed.
Stoupa itself is a 10 minute walk away and has all the services you might need. Excellent tavernas.....we recommend the Riviera and the Panorama up on the headland between Stoupa and Kalogria.

Just to add to the general comment. We had booked another apartment on the web from London and found it not to be what we wanted on arrival. Kostas from the restaurant on the beach recommended Aiolis to us and it was great. Lovely clean and spacious room, superb pool for our 5 year old and close to the beach. The only reason i score 9 is the view from the balcony was not that great.
We loved kalogria and this place so much we will deffo be back.
It is the ultimate place to bring young kids, in the evenings they all play together on the terrace and by the beach at Kostas place. We travel a lot and this has been the most friendly place I have been to. We drove from Athens which is a bit of a drag but you can fly to kalamata.

I thought it fair to mention this great place to stay, having stayed here multiple times.
Maria and her family who own and run Aiolos are friendly, welcoming and warm to everyone staying here. The mix of holiday makers here is refreshingly cosmopolitan, with not only the usual Brits, Germans, Norwegians etc, but Greek 'weekenders'. This is always a good sign!
Locality is about perfect - Kalogria about a cricket balls throw away, and the main strip only a 5 or 10 minutes stroll - plus so many of our Greek friends live nearby as well!
If you want to relax all day with a good book and a nice pool before heading out to more lively haunts post mid-night, it is spot on! Alternatively, it is a good base for getting out and about with so many great places to explore [15 yrs now and I still like to get out and find new things!]. [If you like a quiet pool, this is great! - can't comment on July/Aug etc.]
Anyway, give it a go - not sure how busy it can get mid-season as we generally avoid peak season, but, 10/10 as far as we are concerned!
Stoupa as a whole... changed a lot over the last decade or so. I'm 31 and my wife 28 and enjoy it for relaxation, speaking Greek and eating cheese! We know a lot of locals which helps, but if you have a family, or a group of any age, Stoupa and the surrounding villages and countryside have much to offer for everyone. Not the Islands, and not Spain, but that's half the charm...honest, relaxing, friendly, lively [if you're up for a VERY late one!], and if you have kids, safe and fun for them also.

We stayed at Aiolis apartments in May 2006 for a week. The accommodation is modern and is a much higher standard than usually expected in Greece.
Nice swimming pool although a bit chilly in May (the sun had not warmed it up enough). There is a bar on site, which I would imagine is quite nice during high season. Not used a lot in May.
Easy walk to either Kalogria beach and Tavernas or the main area of Stoupa. Like it so much that we are going back for two weeks in July 2007.

If you are looking for long lazy days by the pool this is NOT the accomodation for you. The pool does not open until 10.00 a.m. and closes between 2.30 and 5.30 p.m. However, you can swim until 9.00 p.m. should you choose to. Low betide anyone trying to sneak in for a dip at 5.28 because Maria will be standing on the steps tapping her watch. (According to the pool notice this is "Greek Law". But I've been to Greece NUMEROUS times and have never heard of this riduculous rule).
The apartments themselves are very nice, of a higher standard than normally expected in Greece and ours (no 18) was quite large. However, our room was only serviced three times in two weeks. Bearing in mind you have to put soiled toilet paper in a flip-top bin and the temperature when we were there topped 40 degrees, it wasn't overly pleasant.
Snacks and drinks are available, but this fact is not advertised and there were no menus on show.
The hotel is ideally situated only a couple of minutes from Kalogria Beach with several bars/restaurants and about 5 minutes from the centre of Stoupa with a wide selection of bars, shops and restaurants.
The fornight we were here was the Greece holiday fortnight and both the resorts were very busy.
All in all we weren't overly impressed with our choice of accomodation, but really liked the resorts.
