Wonderfull Hotel
from Iakovos
A wonderfull hotel, althought a bit dissapointed in the first couple of days. We stayed the hotel on the first day of the season. The firts couble of days it was abvious the the hotel was not ready to have clients. Very very poor breakfast, low comforts but day by day things got better. By the time we left everything was cool. But must be said the we did get a discount. The people there were very very kind, Stathis was the best, and i must note the Denice, the manager is a very very beautifull lady wich a fell in love with. Never the less, i completlly recoment this hotel, as long as you dont go on the opening days. And also rent a car if you want to enjoy your holidays
great in 2006 what happened in 2007?
from carlsson
Had a superb stay in 2006, went again in 2007 it was like Faulty Towers, staff having screaming fits with each other, the breakfast was terrible the staff even worse, food always cold and old, a good selection of wildlife running around coachroaches playing in the lounge/ restaurant along with the ants and on my last couple of days we were joined by a couple of big rats on the patio by the pool. Kef is a lovely island, Im back in 2008 but not at the Princess !!!
Loved The Location Not The Hotel
from JAROY
the princess is in a fantastic position in lassi directly opposite one of the best beaches in kefalonia and we decided this is what we were paying for as the hotel itself although lovely from the outside was quite disappointing. the rooms are very small and quite basic although clean. the breakfast was awful, we didnt bother with it in our second week. the owner was a miserable looking woman who didnt speak to us throughout our 2 week holiday which was a bit of a cheek as we paid £1800 for b and b. car hire is a must as there are some fantastic places to visit as long as your not bothered about driving up some very sheer mountain roads(definitely not for the faint hearted). Fiscardo is beautiful but dont waste you money going to see the mesillini lakes as this is such a rip off. we went to have a look around the trapezaki hotel as this had such rave reviews and it was absolutely fab - the owner Nikos proudly showed us around and at the end presented us with a bottle of local wine. when we go back to kefalonia (and we definitely will) we are going to stay here as the price was cheaper than the princess and no comparison. overall it was one of the best holidays we ever had and needless to say the weather was absolutely glorious every day.
mixed feelings
from xxtripper
From the outside the hotel is very attractive. Nice pool area. The rooms are very basic - functional but dont expect any frills. The bedding is changed regularly but we found the sheets to be damp during the whole of our stay. we experience no noise problems but this was at the end of the season (October 2007). The breakfast was dreadful and comes with a health warning. Great if you like toast and coffee but the fruit and yogurt looked like they had been there for some time. the hot food was laughable. we keep reading about the 'family run' element of the hotel but this escaped us. The romanian lady who appeared to run the place was a nightmare and completely useless if not completely rude. Its a good base, good location but there are others out there who surely more deserving of your hard earned cash. Our fellow guests were great - we all laughed about the way the hotel was run - more Fawlty towers. overall we didnt think it met expectations and wasnt worth the money paid. Thanks to the shropshire folk who kept us sane.
Wonderful and slightly weird - the earth moved!

The Princess is a good hotel with good service, it's clean, has a nice pool and a friendly atmosphere. Kefalonia is a beautiful and rather idiosyncratic island with plenty to keep everyone occupied for a couple of weeks. Lassi itself is nothing special and is populated almost entirely by Brits - but thankfuly not the lager-swilling variety. It also has a good beach. The only (slight) negatives about the hotel are that it's next to a main road and not far from the airport and there aren't any cash machines in the resort but this didn't in any way spoil things. There are loads of tavernas nearby - all with their own unique entertainment. Zorba's with its Greek dancing (good fun), Sirtaki with its speedy waiters (and surprisingly good food - rabbit was delicious) and Veronica's (which has a surreal bingo night run by a woman from Bradford). Argostoli (1 Euro on the bus or 5 Euros in a taxi) has some great places to eat. The best is the Captain's Table - which has two restaurants. One off the main square and another by the harbour - loads of lovely Greek food. The lively town square is where everyone gathers in the evening and bizarrely has at its centre a large hut which is the HQ of the local Communist Party. Other highlights in Argostoli include the Folklore Museum - which had an interesting, if rather unsettling exhibition, about the 1953 earthquake and the Botanical Gardens - run by a refugee from Blackpool. During our stay there was an earth tremor which measured 5.8 on the richter scale but none of the locals seemed to be in any way concerned by this and put it down to the hot weather but we weren't convinced. More evidence of strangeness is the Greek Orthodox cult surrounding the remains of St Gerassimos - who is apparently the patron saint of the mentally ill. There are trips to the church where his remains are stored which is worth a look. Close by the church is the Robola wine factory - which is a cooperative. The wine is good and the profits divided equally. We went with First Choice and did the beach, the pool and three of the trips - the highlight was a barbecue cruise with Captain Makkis which involves lots of mud and a glass bottomed boat. We also went to the Drogorati cave and Melissani lake but you won't miss a great deal if you give these a miss. Kefalonia is great for a straightforward beach holiday but if you scratch the surface there's so much more to this place. It's worth getting a tour and touring round and taking the ferry over to Lixouri. We'll be going back.
Very pleasant place

Booked a week away for a relaxing break and was this relaxing. Very pleasant family runhotel, very basic room but clean and think we had a large family room as had 4 beds. They will tend to your every needs and you will want for nothing. Lovely beach across the road and very pleasant resort. My husband and I travelled with our 8 year daughter. Basic breakfast, nice pool and lovely pool bar and food. We enjoyed everything about Kefalonia and did the island delights trip as was only there for a week and didn't want to hire a car but think that would be best. We flew XL.com and they were excellent. Excellent holiday all round and for Greek standards hotel superb!
brits on the booze
from Debthereb
I cannot believe that these people went to the same hotel. It was dirty and EXTREMELY noisy at night. I actually cried during the first night and decided to bail out. We went to the Mediterannee which was much better. I suppose it depends on what you like and for fear of sounding like a snob I did n't want to be surrounded by poorly behaved Brits on the beer until goodness knows what time. Not for nice families. Perhaps it has changed a huge amount!!!!
Perfect Relaxation
from HazzaMK
This hotel is in a perfect location, very near the local beach and accessible for the local town - shops and restaurants. Many of the Hotels/Apartments in Lassi are located up a long hill which is not ideal after a day on the beach but The Princess is in a great location. The rooms are all very clean and the air con is a must. I thought it was very quiet at night and it was all double glazed. The balconys are nice but small and the rooms arent huge either but we didnt spend much time there. The breakfast was ok but the whole stay at the Princess was lovely. The staff very friendly and they just made our holiday!
A pleasant stay
from CrazyGirl2
I stayed at the Princess Hotel in Lassi for a week in July. I liked that it is quite a small hotel (around 40 rooms). The accomodation was fairly basic, but clean (and there was air conditioning!). The pool was nice, with a pool side bar. We tended not to eat the food here for lunch, but the vanilla bean smoothie they did was great! The hotel staff were friendly. Breakfast was a little monotonous after a week, and I wouldn't recommend their cocktails particularly, but I enjoyed our stay and it was a convienient location for the beach (approx 5 min walk), and to get to the restaurants and bars in Lassi.
Lovely hotel
from Suzyrpilgrim
The hotel was recommended to me by a colleague who had been 3 years running with his family and we weren't disappointed. It was my first time anywhere in Greece (mainland or islands). The Princess is a very attractive 3 star hotel, very clean throughout and the owner Denise and all her staff are friendly and helpful. The bedrooms are basic but comfortable with everything you need. Air-con in the rooms was included in the price. If I had one small moan, it was that the fruit juice served at breakfast tasted as if it was watered down. Not like the lovely juice you get in Spain or Italy. Rest of the breakfast was fine though. The beach opposite the hotel is lovely - one of the best on the island (so we're told but we didn't look elsewhere as it was so good we couldn't be bothered to drag ourselves away!) In early September it wasn't crowded at all, but it may get busy in high season. The sea was warm and crystal clear with no pebbles/seaweed. Basically Lassi itself is just a "strip" either side of the coast road (not too busy or noisy when we were there) with a selection of bars, supermarkets and restaurants. There were no ATM's in Lassi, so you need to go into Argostoli the Capital to get money out. and for clothes,, jewellry etc shopping. It's only 5 minutes by cab costing around 5euros each way. The restaurants and bars in Lassi were good but for more variety, again Argostoli has plenty more. We were only there for a week, so were very lazy and didn't explore further than Argostoli, but the rest of the island can easily be done in about a day by hiring a car. For a beach holiday it was really lovely and relaxing -just what we wanted. Would definitely recommend.
