I stayed at Katerina Palace from 8 - 15 August 2010. I found the reviews posted on this site quite helpful so I hope my comments make your stay a bit better. The Katerina Palace is very basic. We had to pay 4 EURO a night for a fridge as on isn't supplied in the room. We... more

Katerina Palace is a nice little complex in the centre of Argassi, a busy little resort on the north coast of Zante. There are either B&B rooms or you can stay like we did in the self catering studios. The self catering studios are basic - very small cooking facilities and... more

We, as a party of 9, went to Argassi in late july for two weeks through to early august. We stayed in the Katerina Palace hotel which is just at the top of a busy strip of shops and bars (although wasn't particuarly noisy). Katerina Palace was an O.K. hotel, I wouldn't... more

This is our 2nd year at this Hotel and despite having a comfortable and enjoyable stay we did however notice certain flaws that made it feel more like a 1-2 star than a 3 star which it so rightly deserved in 2007. The issues we had were mainly in the bathroom of our... more

Best location!
I went to Zante with a group of 7 (teenagers and adults). Most of us stayed in the studios. The hotel is in a superb location (best in argassi). It is extremely close to the main bars, clubs, restaurants and shops and this meant we did not have to trek up the hill like other holidaymakers. When we arrived at our apartments, the rooms seemed really dim and basic. However the redeeming feature of the studio was the view; hills, pool, play area and the sea in the distance. The worst part of the room was the bathroom. It had unsubstanial lighting and the only window opened onto a busy walkway (oh and it was placed in the shower..). When taking showers, the bathroom flooded (happened in all studios we had) and only select rooms recieved warm water. The sheets in our room were disgusting! My friend had the imprint of an old henna tatoo on her sheets for days (tatoo was not hers). The hotel is not a good place for young adults and teenagers because the management value quiet above all else. However this can be combated with the diversion of surrounding bars and clubs. The staff there are really helpful for the main part. Some are ruder than others, yet the poolside bar staff are extremely polite. I advise lending them some CD's unless you want to spend your holiday listening to greek club classics. The pools are rather quiet but very clean. On our last day we rented out a room in the main hotel complex. I have to say everything in the room was better - better towels, better air-con, and was much bigger. However the view was terrible. TIPS!!! * If you want air-con but cannot afford the cost, rent out just one remote and use it to activate all air-cons * Put towels out very very early unless you want to lay on the grass (not advised) * By all means buy lilos, but there was always about 10 spare ones floating around the pool. * To ensure all day electricity, separate the key from the keyring. (Essential for charging up digital cameras etc..) WARNING!! take a mosquito killer/distractor/spray for night time. A member of my group recieved 10 bites on one leg, and others were just as bad. Seriously the mosquitoes out there are pure hell. Overall I actually loved my holiday. My main disappointment was the fact that my party were sent to our rooms when we were just sitting quietly talking at night by the poolside. Compared to all other hotels it was great. I would definately stay here again (mostly for location though)
Beautiful Zante
Have just returned from this hotel and it was great. Was a bit worried after reading the bad reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. True, the showers in the studios do need updating, but we managed. The hotel was very clean and the staff helpful. The pools are very clean . We did notice that there was not many kids there, so the pool area was very quiet!! We would go back to this hotel again.
Great place for all
Just got back and thought it was excellent. Friendly staff who kept the hotel in good clean condition. Pool area fantastic took 3 kids with us and they thought it was great. Would definately go again
Palace my EYE.....!!!!!!
Stayed in the studio apartments down by the main road... cant give much information realy as i tried to stay out of my room as much as possable... the pool was great the weather out of this world... Was broken into 4 days into my holiday.... came in through bathroom window with faulty lock asked this to be fixed from day one... i was fixed however the day after my break in... No good !!!!! I would say Zante aggasi was fab.. studios was a dive... however the hotel looked realy nice
Great place!!!
We stayed at katerina palace for two weeks and completly loved it. We are 27yrs old and would definatley go back. The front of the hotel is very pretty and a nice large clean reception area. We booked in very quickly and directed to our hotel rooms. The b&b rooms are basic, but cleaned daily and maids very polite. We had a leak from our toilet but it was fixed as soon as we mentioned it. The bathrooms are rather bizarre, no shower rail or curtain so floor ends up covered in water and you have to hold shower head but we got used to this and it wasn't a problem!!! Our balcony was nice with table and chairs but view very disappointing, a row of conifers and couldn't see through them, but just request a pool view and so balconies would be perfect. Pool is lovely, don't buy a lilo as there are loads that people have left and we used them, plenty of good sun loungers but you have to get up early to get one in a decent spot. Food at pool bar good and bar staff very friendly!!! Argassi is a lively place, prob more suitable for couples - nice meal then few drinks kinda thing!!!! Lovely retuarants. Beach very poor as it got washed away in a storm and never been replaced, but there are a few watersports and a really nice beach front bar. But argassi is not the place to be if you are a beach lover. Laganas iS worth a visit on a night if you are a party animal and like lively bars full of drunk 20 somethings!!! It has a beautiful beach and laganas bay very worth a visit. We hired a quad bike for the day which is an absolute must, we explored so much of the island and saw some really nice places, it only cost 40euros for the day, but you get discount for each extra day you take it. Banana beach and St Nicholas beach excellent and very nice!!!! You can get a tourist train from argassi to zante town and there are some lovely shops and cafe's etc...nice to also walk around the working marina. Definatley would return to zante, lovely place and highly recommended!!!!
loved the view
spent a very pleasant week here found everything very clean and tidy, lovely pool area and found the breakfast more than adequate. The hotel was very centrally located near all the amenities without there being to much noise. one note of criticism- the shower! this was located halfway up the wall with no shower curtain I am only four foot eleven inches and found it very difficult my husband found it practically impossible to use this aside we enjoyed our holiday especially sitting on the balcony looking out to sea watching the world go by.
Katerina Palace!! more like motel
Well where do i begin, on arrival all seemed well until we followed the guy who dragged our suitcases to the last set sudio's and opened the door to be greeted with our toilet seat on the floor! well on the 3rd request we finally had it fixed. Some of the sheets we had, had staines on them and the towels had dubious brown marks mmm... Then when getting ready in the evening no air con was available as you have to pay 5 euros a day for it, little did we know as they never told us anything when we arrived, so we had to keep trekking to the hotel to find out things. And limited safety deposit boxes so you are not guarenteed one. So you better get in quick if you want one!! A studio close to ours was broken into and personal belongings were stolen. This does not surprise me as there was no guard on the gate at our end and people just seemed to wander in and out as they please which was worrying!! My better half lost the key the day after on his way to the pool, and when we asked reception for a copy they told us to ask the maid to let you in. When we found the maid she just gave us the skeleton key to all the rooms and let us walk off with it on our own!! When we told the reception about it and that we was worried that someone else would have access to our room they just said " oh well someone will probably come in look in the room, wont find anything valuble and just leave!" and when i said well what if we are in the room at the time, my answer from them was "they will probably come in and see that you are there and just leave" "the killing rate around this area is very low, but hairspray will blind a man" Well as you can imagine i was not best pleased with this answer and basically complained. Whislt getting ready someone came and changed the lock. On our last morning, 10 mins before the coach was due to pick us up they sprang us with a 30euro bill for the new lock, which was never explained to us when they fitted the lock. So this caused us to try to reason and explain that we would pay them once we was back home as they have our details, and we had spent most of our money. But our rep was a useless twat and once we were finally allowed to go on the coach Katerina came trouncing on being rude and abrupt in front of the whole coach saying that we owed her money for damaging the room. Well we had not damaged anything and had explained to our so called rep and he assured us that the matter was all in hand. So the "lovely" Katerina went off on one and there was no rep on hand to help. So a word of advise, dont take any valubles, take plenty of hair spray just in case...., and basically wouldn't bother going as feeling usafe is not a relaxful holiday!!! But bar all of the above we loved the days around the pool hi ya Lisa, Zoe, Ami, Steven, Kelly and Scott and of course the unforgettable Rich and Jo from York! You 2 truly are a unique pair!! Hope you both had a good time in Laganas.....hehehe
5 Star in every way!
I have been to this hotel 4 times now and in 4 days time I will be going again. You really couldn't ask for anything more from such a wonderful place. The hotel is being improved all the time. The staff you couldn't wish to meet nicer people, and as for Katerina herself, well she is a gem. The family have become personal friends and it's always a shame to have to come home. I would recommend this Hotel and it's Apartments to everyone. From relaxing by the pool to exploring the Island, this is the ideal base to roam from. I will always return to this place, as a guarentee for it's effort to provide the best to all guests. For Katerina and all her staff, nothing is too much trouble.
Pretty good
We stayed at the Katerina Palace the first week in July, we went B & B the rooms were a little basic but fine, we had a double/twin room and the beds are slatted, this meant that they were incredibly squeaky (and not due to action) and we found the slats often fell through if you did not spread your weight equally across the bed. The people working at the hotel were all incredibly friendly, we had a problem with our hire car company and the gentleman on reception resolved it for us and saved us 90 euros in the process. The pool was a little crowded with the usual problem of people putting towels on loungers from very early in the morning, so get up early and do the same if you want a day by the pool. The breakfast was basic, bread rolls, cereal, tinned peaches, ham and cheese. I would go back to the Katerina Palace, but I would go self catering next time as the breakfast was limited and there are so many supermarkets close by, it would be just as easy to buy a nice breakfast.
Lovely Hotel, Lovely Hostess
Have stayed in the Katerina Palace Hotel five times in the last nine years and each time it has been better than the last. Katerina is a great host and is always on hand if you have any questions or help. The reception staff are also very obliging. The rooms are good and towels and beds changed approx 4 times a week! It is definitely value for money and with the delights of Argassi a short walk away it is the idea base for a great family holiday. We will certainly be going back at some point in the future and would recommend the hotel as a very good, value for money holiday.
