The hotel is in a very convenient location; it's virtually on the traffic free lake front, where there are many bars and restaurants and is also very near the bus station, so if you travel independently and transfer by bus, you won’t have far to carry your luggage (200 metres or so). A supermarket and cycle hire are also within 100 metres.
It is family owned and run and we received friendly helpful attention. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean.
The dining room was light and airy and breakfast was adequate, especially considering room rates, which were breakfast included.
There is a nicely furnished Conservatory adjoining the dining room which leads out into the garden, which has access to the lake front.
The rooms were of good size and the beds were very comfortable. The double glazed and Shuttered windows kept out most of what little noise there was, but not that of the nearby Church bells, which were rung at 07:00 every morning!
The Hotel is only two Star and so lacks a few refinements; mainly, air conditioning, although there was a large ceiling fan, which we didn't need to use in May. Also, as with many hotels that are used by package holiday companies, there is no Sound proofing. Fortunately though, the sort of people who visit Garda, are generally orderly, so this was not much of a drawback. Although the people in the next room could be heard using their bathroom - and the plumbing could be heard as well!
There are only 18 rooms and 6 of those have balconies which claim to have views of the lake, but the view is partially obscured by trees.
Nevertheless, Room rates are very reasonable (this hotel can be booked independently, via their website) overall, this hotel for its many good points is good value and well worth considering.
