Blue Lagoon Resort Hotel Reviews
" Nice resort, food let it down "
Submitted By: Sean66
We spent a week at the Blue Lagoon resort in the middle of October. When we arrived we were greeted with a glass of something representing "champagne". We requested at the time of booking to have a non-smoking room, but we ended up spending 2 nights in a smoking room before we were moved to another room.
The hotel staff were very helpful and very pleasant and responded to our requests quite quickly and our room was cleaned regularly and the resort was spotless. The resort itself is very well equipped for both children and adults providing facilities for everyone.
We were surprised that we had to pay for a cappacino and other drinks which we expected to be within the "all inclusive" deal we had paid for. The themed restaurant is a disappointment as we found that it served the same food as the main restaurant.
This late in the year we found the food in general was repeated and because the resort was closing in 2 weeks for the winter, the hotel were using up the food that was left over rather than ordering new supplies. Food quality was not a problem, although the choice was extremely dissapointing when we thought that by booking a 5 star resort we would have been served 5 star food which was not the case.

we visited the blue lagoon this year and enjoyed our holiday very much. The staff are very friendly and food was excellent for the 2 weeks even though it is repeated the 2nd week. The entertainment could be better for a 5 star hotel we didnt bother as went into kos town most nights as it has a nice greek atmosphere. The pool at the hotel is very impressive but the usual problem with sunbeds as even though lots still not enough. so you need to be up early to get one. The hotel is spotless and being cleaned all day and night long.We didnt find a problem with the bar being busy as staff very efficent Cappacino and espressos had to be paid for which was strange as all inculsive. Overall we had a good holiday

Just got back from this resort today and after so many mixed reviews I wasn't too sure what I was letting myself in for.
I went on holiday with my partner and our 5 year old son on an all inclusive basis. On arrival we were greeted with smiles from staff and even a drink!
Once we had been allocated a room we were taken on a golf buggy to our room where we wasn't disappointed. Spacious room with a good size bath and shower.
The resort has the biggest pool I have ever seen and also has a children's pool as well as an indoor pool.
Food was fantastic not for people who expect typical English food but for those who like to eat different cuisine. Evening entertainment wasn't fantastic but staff tried their best.
Beach well wasn't really much of one but took a trip to paradise beach, where we wasn't disappointed. I would most certainly return to this hotel again.

The resort is all pretty new so a good start. Overall a nice place to stay, however we had problems with the new mattresses that had been placed on the beds, they were pretty hard and not easy to sleep in.
There were the usual problem with sun loungers and you have to get up early to get one with a cover on. By 10.30 you`d be lucky to find one at all that hasn`t got a towel or book on it.
Just before we left they did replace some of the loungers with new wicker ones, but rather than replenish the covers they put the old ones on the beach.
The food was good and plentiful, there were queues to get into dinner sometimes, but they did everything they could to help find somewhere to eat.
The rooms were clean and functional as were the dining and communal areas.
Entertainment was a bit strained with a show each night that wasn`t bad. The resort is placed in a "quiet" area so there is no real chance to get off site without using a bus or a car. As we didn`t want to go anywhere else this suited us.
Overall a good holiday and a nice location. Not sure I’d place it as a 5 star though.

Avoid!
A total joke of a place with the rudest staff I have ever met. Terrible food mostly cold by the time you got to sit and eat it and I was always hungry late evening around 11pm but there was nothing to eat and nowhere to go to eat, all inclusive drinks don’t make me laugh, vodka brandy ouzo wine and beer was all that was on offer and I couldn’t bare to wait 15 mins every time I wanted another because the staff completely blank you, My partner went for 2 beers (one each) on the first evening and the older barman said he couldn’t have two.
Later that evening he was extremely rude to one lady who didn’t stand for it then her husband I think went mental at him and I have to say he deserved it. In the end I avoided the bar totally. I drank coffee the whole time which you had to pay for after eleven.
On arrival we were put in the 3* blue sea beach hotel rooms (same building as the disco) which they do use for the 5* guests! It was crawling with ants. I complained in the morning and was moved to the 5* rooms across from the disco (very noisy). These rooms are definitely not 5* standard, no tea/coffee facilities and no mini bar and the TV was all German apart from a couple of news channels whoopee!
In other words sit in reception/bar/lounge are and play cards as everyone else was doing due to the non existent day and night entertainment program or sit in room and watch news. We got a bus into Kos town several nights out of sheer boredom.
Staff were caught not washing their hands after the toilet and handling food/cutlery I actually was there and witnessed the big group of people all complaining to the manager. Other complaints made was the actual security of your room as anyone can say they lost their card and ask for any room number and walk right into your room. My partner actually had to do this on one evening and reception didn’t ask for id name or anything just handed him the card no questions. All you could see was guests walking around with complaint forms. I have never seen anything like this before.
Also I never want to see another ham and cheese toasty again. Toasties and a slice of cake was the only snacks available at the pool bar. There was no ice cream for kids in fact there was absolutely nothing there for kids at all.
Also the beach in front of the hotel just over the road. its not a beach but a scrub land and people were also telling me it was more like 40 mins walk to Kos town than the 20mins walk along the beach as described . I only ever went on the bus to Kos town and that took 5 - 7 mins. This is the worst holiday I have ever been on and it was mostly to do with the staffs attitudes. I feel so sorry for those of you that I met and are still there for another week. All I can say is I’m glad I was there for a week and not two.
To everyone who is booked up to go my only advice is to cancel. Don't say you've not been warned! Good luck anyone who does brave it.

Our room was very clean and modern with a great view. There was a bath as well as a shower.
On the second day our daughter had a severe allergic reaction to something, the hotel staff were really sympathetic and helpful, even arranging special food to be cooked for every meal after the doctor stipulated no more fruit, veg, pasta sauces, oil etc. They did not charge us any extra to cook the special food and the chef always delivered it himself making a special fuss. All the staff were very friendly to our daughter all of the time, it really is a family friendly place to stay. I cannot say that I met any rude or unfriendly staff at all as I read on a previous review. The hotel has a huge army of staff who are always on the ball. Nothing was too much trouble.
The food was excellent and plentiful, especially if you like to try local dishes which are always available as well as plain and simple stuff like pizza and chips. Food (if you can manage any more after stuffing yourself silly during the day) was available late into the night, sandwiches from the bar in reception. There are a number of restaurants to choose from, you do have to book for greek or bbq but there are no limits to how many times you visit a particular restaurant.
As well as the pirate pool pictured on their website there is also a gentler children's pool. The main pool was huge, plenty of room for activities, inflatables and swimmers all in one go and it still seemed practically empty!
The entertainment was good most nights - five nights out of seven there were live entertainers, singers, zorba, samba and then for two nights the entertainment team hosted karaoke and a battle of the sexes but as our little girl was poorly we didn't really stay up late to watch except for the samba night but instead listened from the balcony on our room. The night starts with a kids disco which our daughter enjoyed a lot, it was the highlight of her day.
I would definitely stay there again, I enjoyed every aspect of the holiday, even with the stress of our daughter being poorly for most of the stay I have to say that had the hotel not been as helpful as they were it could have been a lot more stressful than it was and they made it more bearable for us.
Advice: Great for families.
Activities: The views from the castle in town are stunning.
Good for: Beach
