Just returned from a week skiing in Arinsal. Great slopes esp. for the beginner /intermediate. Ski school and the ski instructor’s full marks.
Only one snowfall at the start of the week, but they have the efficiently snow raked and groomed fresh for each morning. Got a bit slushy towards end of week. Great ski lifts, all looking newish.
Overall I would recommend Arinsal and the Montane.
However, the food was poor and small portions.
The staff are friendly. The rooms are clean and the maid did a diligent job of keeping it that way.
There is a young faction that stays up late and drinks too much and sings rowdy football chants in the street from about midnight to about 3.30am, this kept us awake several nights with the windows shut (too hot) also the throbbing music coming through the structure from the club above the El Cah.
This is arranged and encouraged by one of the tour operators. Magaluf style quiz nights and seventies nights, happy hours etc etc.
The hotel is very conveniently located opposite the main gondola and has its own lock-up for skis and boots.
Great holiday marred slightly by drunken youth (Brit and Spanish) type noise, and lousy food.

Stayed here in March 2005 and loved the place. Excellent location right opposite gondola and close to supermarket and restaurants. Not many bars at all but the after a hard days skiing we were too knackered to go out drinking anyway!
The resort itself is good for beginners but Arinsal has limited runs but Pal offers more tree lined runs. The bar in the hotel was small but rather pleasant. Food was good with continental breakfast and a fry up on the Saturday. The evening meal was three course with a choice of three main meals. A garage is provided for ski storage which is locked and key held by reception.
The stone floors in the rooms had under floor heating which was good to leave your ski boots on overnight so they were dry for the morning. We liked it so much were going back this year to stay there again but taking my father and my 4 month old son. I recommend going up the gondola early as there is a bit of a queue if you leave it too late but it was never too bad.
If you are on a TUI holiday (Thomson/Crystal) there are trips to Andorra town for duty free shopping or to the Caldea sauna spa. We did the shopping trip which left at about 1pm midweek which was a nice break from the skiing for half a day.

Having just spent a week at the Montane I found it to be an excellent friendly hotel. Its position is second to none as it is only a few yards to the Gondola, which can be used to access the Pal ski area, and also the bars you may wish to visit.
The staff were always courteous and friendly and the breakfast and evening meal were everything you would require, both in quantity and quality.
Rooms were more than adequate although the only addition I would have liked would have been tea/coffee making facility. They were cleaned on a daily basis and were in good state of decoration.
The hotel was billed by Crystal as a 4 star, which it wasn't (the hotel themselves advertise 3 star) but that said I had a great stay and would have no problem going there again in the future. Finally 2 days of heavy snow made for some great powder skiing - but as this is a hotel review you can read elsewhere about the options available.

First time skiers with family, as husband and wife skied for years. Excellent hotel very helpful with the children, if they weren't to keen on the food provided they would provide different.
Rooms were very clean and tidy. Noise was a problem. People without children coming in at 2am voices would travel as all floors are tiled. Skiing was excellent for beginners and people who hadn't skied for a long time.
A great holiday for first timers with families easy to move around. Great being able to use the facilities at princess park to keep the kids happy with bowling

Good hotel, spacious well decorated rooms. Arinsal is VERY quiet, only a handful of bars and all within walking distance in this small town.
Food was ok. Overly fancy and not much of it. Food served in two sittings, kids get early sitting, after a hard days skiing the late sitting can be too late. Bar in hotel was expensive and only had room for a handful of people.
Hotel right across the road from the main gondola, excellent position but skiing is limited in Arinsal. Suitable for beginner or early intermediate only.

Hotel was nice. Room’s spacious, good views. Excellent position close to the gondola, literally over the road. Within walking distance of all local bars (which is easy because there are so few). Breakfast and dinner left a lot to be desired, sugar puffs or a croissant in the morning and choice of 3 dishes in the evening, most of which were not filling and tasted pretty bland. Bar downstairs was ok, good large measures and a drink on the house now and then, sky sports and some English telly. Overall a cosy, friendly atmosphere, aimed at 40.
And just for the record, skiing in Arinsal is pretty poor for anyone who is not learning, a day trip to Achilades or the Soldeu/Encamp/Pas De La Casa region is a must for anyone who gets bored doing the same over-rated runs more than once!
Wouldn’t come again but didn’t have as bad a time as this review may put across.

I don't know how to start this as feel I could write forever, but as the title suggest the thing that made me enjoy my holiday was the service from the staff, they were vigilant and very easy to get on with, Matt especially on reception made us feel so so welcome and answered all our many questions. The maid (didn't catch her name) seemed the busiest person in the world, always saw her ironing sheets in her cupboard and even helping out in the kitchen.
Ah the kitchen, one word FANTASTIC, the food was amazing, 3 courses, each course having the choice of 3 options, the starters were things like soup, pasta and salads to which there was so much of it you thought it was a main course, then generous main courses which generally had a local choice such as spanish omelette etc then a small (but perfectly formed) portion of some classic puddings. The restaurant where everyone eats has a relaxed atmosphere with a view into the valley and up to the gondola.
Now the gondola, it literally is over the road, easy to walk to in ski boots and with skis, the hotels' lock-up facility is secure and handy also.
The resort itself gets lively, but where doesn't, but there is a supermarket down the road and a hire store for skis etc.
Our room was incredible, what looked like a new bathroom, with fresh towels everyday, two twin beds pushed together and made everyday and a spare single bed. TV etc.
One thing that did surprise us was the generousity of the bathroom freebies! Shaving kits, shampoo, mositurising lotion, cleansing cream, comb, toothbrush and paste, bath salts and cotton buds! A lovely touch.
So to conclude, a brilliant hotel, fantastic staff, great location and a amazing holiday!
A million thank-you's
