Premier Travel Inn Deansgate Locks Reviews
Sep 2006, Mr R Fraser
The Premier travel Inn at Deansgate Lock is one of the 3 travel inn's in Manchester City centre. It is the furthest away of the 3 from the centre, but it still only takes about 20 minutes to walk to Piccadilly gardens so it isn't far at all. The staff were very helpful when... more

excellent stay
from tompa
Stayed here for one night and found it very clean well positioned for town centre and friendly staff .The bedroom was very large and the six foot double bed very comfy . After informing staff the room heating was off it was sorted immediately. Only ate here for breakfast which was fresh varied and tasty. Will definately stay here again.
Nice hotel
from mesuzzie
Nice hotel in a good location. Is a few minutes walk away from the deansgate locks bars and ideal if you're going on a night out. The rooms were clean, no frills but for £60 in a city centre it was a great deal. Major bonus of this hotel is it has a big car park which is free!
Good Old Travel Inn!!
from Penguin1977
You can always rely on Travel Inn and this one was no exception. Good staff and it was really clean! We had a huge room - bigger than most 5 star hotels I have stayed in! Free on site car park was a huge plus, especially as you are only a 5 minute walk from the GMEX tram stop. If you want to be in the middle of everything possibly not the best choice of Travel Inn in the city - I would recommend the one on Portland Street, but if you don't mind a 15 minute walk into town or a quick tram ride, this hotel is more than adequate!!!
A surprise!
from CarnBham
I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. I expected it to have the very basics and fully contemplated an evening alone in the room with a takeaway. Not so. The service was friendly and helpful, and the room was clean. The air conditioning consists of a fan however. There is ample parking space (although I didnt use as it was full and as I didnt know they had one, made other arrangements). I was allowed to park there the following day. There is a restaurant which displayed a good menu and there was a bar, which allowed you to eat your food, ordered from the restaurant. Altogether I had a very pleasant and relaxed stay, and would be willing to do so again.
Good value

Recently four of us stayed here for 2 nights - £58 a room which is pretty cheap for Manchester. First impressions of the room was that it was clean and spacious, with 2 small twin beds in each room, and clean bathroom. The rooms had tea/coffee facilities, aircon, heater, phone, spare pillows, hairdryer, wardrobe and tv... most everything you need really. Our room was adjacent to the carpark, though I can't say that we could really hear the cars so they must have decent windows. Though there was occasional noise from the corridors -- especially the cleaning staff who knocked on our door every half hour from 9 onwards (must remember to put that "we're sleeping" sign outside our door next time!). The shower was only okay -- nice and powerful if the temperature is cold, but got weaker as soon as we turned up the heat. We didn't breakfast at the hotel as it didn't seem to be particularly good value. The location is decent. While the immediate area isn't pretty, its about 15 minutes walk to Princess Street/ Canal street area, another 5 to the shopping areas. We saw the GMEX Premier Travel Inn and this location did look more central and nicer. Overall we were pretty happy with this place. If the downtown Travel Inns are booked out, this one is still walking distance and worth the cost..
Does exactly what is says in the tin.

If you're not from the UK, that title probably doesnt mean much to you - what i mean is you know exactly what youre getting with the Premier Travell inn's. It's a bit like mcdonalds, you may not be getting top quality food, but at least you know the big mac you're buying in london will be pretty much the same as the big mac you buy in Edinburgh. Its the same with Travell Inn's/ Premier Lodges/ wahtever they call themselves now. You get a good sized room and bathroom, its relatively clean. You get a BIG bed, tea and coffee facilities and a heater. You get noise from the corridors. But most of all, you get it for 55 per night per room. For that reason alone, its an absolute bargain. While this hotel isnt ever going to compete with the 4 and 5 stars of the city (that does not include the majority of the supposed 4 star hotels in piccadilly, which are usually awful - this means you Thistle, Portland et al), it is good, clean and cheap - ideally suited for a one or two night stop over when really you should be out and about exploring new things, not holed up in a room. One big word of warning!!!! On very rare occasions (i should know, i lived there for 28 years) Manchester DOES have a summer. When its get warm outside (25 degrees and up) the hotel becomes unbearably warm and there is NO air conditioning. You get a fan in the room, which does little other than circulate warm air around. Even with the windows open and despite the noise from the merriment going out outside, its still far too hot to sleep. The management really need to put air con in this place. Still throughly recommended as probably the best value overnight/weekend stay hotels in manc.
No Frills Low Customer Care
from A TripAdvisor Member
Once I had coped with the 6pm queue for check in, which wound its way across reception and out of the main entrance door, the room was okay. It was clean and functional. Overnight the sleep was okay, some background noise as something was wheeled along the corridor but otherwise an uneventful night. Went for breakfast and found that I had been booked in room only and would have to pay for breakfast (oops, wallet in room) and of course you cannot charge it to your room. Lengthy wait for the lift. Returned to speak with receptionist, who was busy on the telephone and said "If you are checking out, just leave your key there" and turned away. So I did and turned away. I ate breakfast elsewhere. An all round Customer Care-Less Award winner from this particular guest.
No Frills, Extremely Clean, Good Deal
from A TripAdvisor Member
My family and I visited Southport, UK during May 2005. The recently opened Premier Travel Inn was extremely clean. However, it offered no amenities. No phone in room, no vending machines/ ice machines, the electricity capacity was minimal and the breakfast offered at the restaurant was limited to a few items. However, for the price it really was a good deal and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The staff is friendly with a real focus on keeping the Inn spotless. I would recommend this Inn for budget travellers.
Cheap and Cheerful
from Ashers79
Stayed here for one saturday night. Hotel is a short taxi ride from oxford road or picadilly train station. Rooms were clean and spacious, big beds, satellite tv,hairdryer and shower over a bath. Plenty of towels supplied and extra pillows. There is a small basic restaurant and bar and the hotel is very secure - key passes required to access the entrance, lifts etc. The only downside is that this hotel is extremely noisy at the weekends - there were 4 hen partys and 2 stag do's the night we were staying - and you can hear very clearly from one room to the other. It's a great option for young groups of people looking for somewhere cheap but nice to stay in the center of manchester.

Stayed at the Premier Travel Inn in Deansgate Lock. The hotel was fine. Price was 55 pounds per night per room. We had 2 rooms and stayed for 4 nights. Breakfast was 7 pounds each for full & 5 pounds for continental, kids eat free. Hotel has a basic restaurant, we had an evening meal no starters, 2 chicken, 1 steak, 2 kids pizzas, 2 kid’s deserts and 6 drinks (4 beers & 2 soft) cost 60 pounds or (90 euros). From the Airport we got a train directly to Oxford Rd station (cost 12 pounds for 3 A and 2 kids), which is a 12 min walk to the hotel. The GMEX centre is a 5 min walk and the Piccadilly area (the main shopping area) is a 15 min walk or you can get Buses or Metro from the GMEX. Manchester United and Old Trafford are 10 mins on the Metro from the GMEX. The tour and museum are worth a visit. The Trafford Shopping centre is 25 mins on the Metro/shuttle bus and is very impressive. Manchester is not exactly cheap, its much more expensive than most of Ireland. Sandwich and tea in a pub is about 5 pounds (7 euros) each so 5 people costs 25 to 30 pounds(45 euros). Pints of lager cost between 2 to 3 pounds, however you can go to bars that charge 1 - 2 pounds for sprits or alcopops however kids are not allowed in. Manchester is a lovely city and the peoples are friendly. Try and get self-catering if your going with kids. Manchester Art Muesum is great and kids will love it. We stayed for 5 days 4 nights, went to A Man U matct, did the tour. Hotel cost us 450 pounds Food cost 400 pounds Flights with Aer Lingus were 180 pounds Match & Tour tickets were 115 Travel and Misc were 200. Total cost 1345 pounds or a good sun holiday. Maybe Britian should consider going Euro

This hotel isn't too close to the city centre, although it's not too far away and you can easily walk it in about 20 minutes or so. The room was a decent size, not too cramped, with a large, king size bed which was firm and comfy. It's pretty basic, but has all the... more
