Did we stay in the same place as other reviewers?

This is not a place I would recommend to anyone unless you want merely to lie around the pool (which was the only nice thing about the place but which could also do with some cushions on the loungers) and drink at quite a cost. You get placed in the hottest room possible and are then asked to pay 49 Euros per week for air-conditioning. If you go out and buy a fan as we did you get charged 15 Euros for using the electricity. We also wondered how they found the fan which was in the wardrobe? Breakfast was incredibly boring and if you happened to ask for your own gluten- and wheat-free bread to be toasted the roll was taken from the basket so that your companion could only have one.

Ill write a review about the Hotel Lisa. we have been going for the last 5 years, and god willing we would go for the next 5 years, some people make me sick, if they wont a 5 star Hotel, then book in one, dont run the Hotel Lisa down, as it is spottlessly clean, the towels and bed linen are changed twice a week, The staff are just great, and Michael and his son George, are a smashing Family, aslo Greg, and the receptionist, Ron, Very friendly, and Helpful.we had to be moved to another Hotel this year, much to our dissapointment, we had a good holiday, but it would have been a lot better had we been able to stop at the Lisa, there is just noway we can fault the Hotel roll on next year, back to the Lisa, we hope to see you next year Michael.Shirley and Ann

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Lisa Hotel. We had a great time, our room was very spacious, the large balcony over-looked the beautiful garden, full of exotic plants which looked so enchanting when lit up for the evening. The pool was amazing - we've never been pool people but it looked so clean and inviting. There was never more than 6 people in the pool and most of the time there was just the two of us. A quick swim before hitting a fun packed day was brilliant.
The breakfast was a continental one with fruit each day but then this is what a lot of hotels offer these days. If you wanted a full English breakfast this was available at the pool side bar which was very good value for money.
The Hotel Lisa was about a 15 minute walk (which is stated in the brochure!)down to the main road which is a pretty stroll. Taxis can be ordered if you're not up to walking. The bus stops were at the end of the road for both directions, dont be worried about returning in the dark, the driver always calls out hotel names then you just press the bell. Always ask for Anixis Hotel as this is around the corner from the bus stop.
Michael and George (who run the hotel) were excellent, lovely people, always willing to help out, always happy and smiling. they make you feel so welcome. It makes me angry when people put people down, they are working so hard and still they remain happy. If they had been miserable I would understand it, no pleasing some people!
We would definiately go back.

just returned from a weeks stay at hotel lisa. my husband and i went with my brother and sister/in/law. the hotel was clean, and the staff was ver friendly. the manager ( micheal) and his son(george) was very helpfull. the rooms were kept clean, in fact our beds and towels were changed 4 times during our stay. the pool was clean and of a good size. plenty of sun beds. there is also a pool bar where you can buy snacks. there is pool table, and in reception there is a massage chair, for anyone into that sort of thing. the breakfast was continetal, which was not a problem for us. we ate out for our evening meals. the meals cost roughly 40 euros for 4 of us. the only thing that we moaned about was the walk to the beach. it took about half a hour. but having said that, my husband has walking difficulties, so it took longer than some. the weather was very good, 38, 39 degrees one day it touched 42. the bus into rhodes town was 2 euros 10. the taxi was 13 euros. over all i would recomend it. we got a cheap holiday and allocated on a arrival, and we met some lovely people

Great family run Hotel with good service.
We had a great time and met some great people, Makes me a bit sick to listen to people complaining about paying ** prices and expecting ***** service, The hotel is of a basic but clean and tidy standard.
The owner is very helpful and not as some other people suggest just after your Euro's.
We spent most of our days away from the hotel and he was still extreamely helpful, I think the word should be respectful certain people while we were staying their were so DIS RESPECTFULL it made me ashamed to be british...they expect something for nothing??
All in all well recomended and would definately stay at the Lisa again.

We arrived at the Lisa hotel and were given a warm welcome by the receptionist Ron. After checking into our room and unpacking we went down to relax by the pool. The pool was a good size and always clean, there were ample sun lounges to accommodate the residents staying there. The hotel was very clean and of a good standard throughout, the room was cleaned everyday and linen changed twice a week. All the staff were very helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble. The pool bar served a good selection of hot and cold snacks as well as a good selection of drinks. During the evening the main bar was run by the owner Michael and his son George they had a wide range of music to suit all tastes. Every night residents drinking in the bar would receive free shots throughout the evening. For us the hotel met and exceeded our expectations the only downside was having to listen to a few winging Brits that did not appreciate the good quality that the hotel had to offer. Overall the hotel was fantastic and the hospitality that Michael and the staff gave to residents was second to none. We will be defiantly coming back!!

Arrived at Lisa 'Hotel' in the middle of the night, (Sept. 09) not knowing anything about the area or the hotel, as there were no pictures of it in the brochure.....WARNING.... i should have known. Were taken to what I could only describe as a cell, I know this was offered as a ** accomodation, but I would be far fetched to even give it any. Personally when I pay good money, no matter what the price, I expect SOMETHING in return. the hallway to the room was grubby, the room, ok...the floors were clean enough, but there were worn and tatty linen on the beds, I felt the need to put my own beach towel on top and lie on that. There was a kettle, 2 plastic mugs and a wall socket about 4ft off the ground...... just ONE socket, so if you dare make anything to drink you has to hoist the kettle in mid air and hold it!! NO sink, just a toilet basin, so no-where to wash anything. Overall I was disgusted.
The view from the balcony was a tatty, grubby looking building site, there were bike non-stop tearing up and down a dusty dirt track, the walk to the 'town' was about 30 mins, and just...well.... don't bother, there was nothing there, I did flip out at one point after feeling quite unwell and not being able to have a drink in the night, (NO fridge) so anything you took in there could only be warm water.... I phond the rep.... in tears by this point. and I think they'd had several complaints because she moved us that very day. we were transferred to Faliraki... not our first choice , as we asked for a nice quiet spot. but nevertheless, it was 100% improvement on Lisa ...
Overall.... If you want to 'doss' down for the night.. ok..... but if you want a proper holiday and some sort of comfort and enjoyment DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT THIS PLACE.

Degrading experience

Hotel Lisa; Ixia
Having recently returned from 2 weeks at Hotel Lisa, it was an experience I would not like to repeat. On previous holidays to Greece, the accommodation has often been basic with no frills.
However, Hotel Lisa plumbs the depths. The standards of hygiene set by this place are dreadful. The rooms were dingy; the sheets on the beds were extremely old and patched. The towels were threadbare and heavily stained. If these sheets and towels were on display at a British car boot sale, nobody would touch them, even if they were free!
(An educated guess says that they were the throw-outs from some of the other hotels on the island; perhaps meant as donations to some impoverished third-world country.)
The toilet/shower room was a disgrace. When taking a shower, it was impossible to stop the water flooding onto the floor which then became very slippery. Hence it was necessary to mop up the water with the towels, making them even more disgusting, and then hang them on the balcony to drain. (A notice on the wall stated “do not use the towels to clean the floor”.)
The toilet seat would not stay up so when taking a pee, the man had to stand at the side and hold the lid with his knee.
There was a small shelf above the sink for toothbrushes etc. There were tiny bits of “dust” there all the time. When examined closely, they were moving; some insects which liked toothbrushes. Other insects included mosquitoes.
As usual in Greece, a notice said “Do not put paper down the toilet”. There was a small bin (with lid) in the shower room. Since it was the only bin in the room, it soon became full and would not close fully. This bin was not emptied every day hence the smell, etc.
There was only one electricity point in the room; caused problems all the time.
Outside, some of the sun loungers were filthy, heavily stained by the sun lotions and sweat of previous inmates. I have never experienced such squalor; what are Olympic holidays thinking of?
Throw in the psycho running the place, with his obsession for more Euros, his over-familiarity with the female guests, the insulting “bread & jam “ breakfasts, the remote location of the place and you’ve got a thoroughly rotten holiday.
Only the Brits would tolerate such a dump. The majority of visitors to the island are now Germans; they would never accept such deplorable standards and neither should we.

Enjoyable

This is the fourth time we have been to the Lisa Hotel and have no complaints. Contrary to some of the reports I have read my partner and I have always found Michael to be most helpful, friendly and accommodating. Yes this is a 2* accommodation, it is basic but it is clean. The cleaners are there seven days a week, and linen is changed twice each week. The brochure, internet details and indeed at the welcome meeting all state that the Hotel does have air conditioning to be paid locally. Why then people complain about a charge is quite beyond me. I did read the review referring to a gentleman having a small fan, then no electric.. this man had a large fan which he went out and purchased because he didn't want to pay the local charge and subsequently blew the fuse in the power point. Despite being asked by the manager and Olympic Co to pay he flatly refused. I am sure that I would do more than complain if someone came onto my property and tried to use my utilities without some form of compensation. The breakfasts were continental style and as this implies is simply sweet pastry ie: croissant, coffee and fruit juice, toast and jam. Why then people expect more and loudly complain beats me. Continental breakfasts are basically a light meal which puts you on until lunch time. It is embarrassing sometimes to be British and to have to listen to the rude comments made by other guests. These people who own, manage and work at this hotel are Greek NOT stupid. We all expect to be treated with respect, why then do some people feel it is not necessary to treat them the same. The pool cafe offers a varied menu run by Lisa and her husband Gregory (who also manages and maintains the pool). The hotel bar is run by Michael and ably assisted by his son George who both do their best to cater to everyone's taste.

It is a 20 minute walk to the main road and bus stop. Twenty minutes from the main road left to Trianda and right to Ixia both have a good selection of bars and restaurants.
If you are looking for relaxing break, pay for two star and do not expect five star then I would recommend the Lisa Hotel.

  • Advice: Varied bars and restaurants, although Trianda has a wider selection.
  • Activities: The Napoli in Ixia, Golden Dragon and Kavalieros in Trianda.

lovely area-bad accommodation

Sep 2009, cath thomas

My friend and i went to this accommodation which was below basic. I am happy for the people who enjoyed it here, and just want to say that i have never slated a place before and feel very sorry for people that go anywhere with high expectations just to put people down and slag places off. If you read some of the reviews above, i note mr whatson's...which is written in broken english...i cannot name names but the owner and his son both speak very good english, which i applaud them for. Can i just say that the karaoke singers-which we sang along to from our room were excellent, and the music played every day and night is very good.
the room was adequate except for the fact that you were charged seperately for a small fridge and had to get a remote from the owner, which cost 40 euros a week, to work the air conditioning.breakfast is bread and jam, with a slice of ham and cheese twice a week, when the new flights come in! and once a week the bread was heated...don't know why...
as two women, we were greeted on reception by michael who proceeded to tell us he had had 5 wives...the blowing of kisses and arm touching continued until i told him that he talked bull....! he is nice to people...only if you spend money in his bar...which we didn't, we were out sightseeing all week...i think that maybe the place would be different if michael had still been married...it needs a women's touch-and real plants, not plastic...
he allowed an old man to take suitcases up stairs for two old women whilst he sat on reception-no manners at all...'what about a lift?' i hear you cry...sorry, we all had to lug cases up and down the stairs, michael and george where not gentlemen...but to the bald englishman that helped us-thank you again.
one couple had food stolen from their room, another were slagged off every time they passed reception for using a little fan in their room-told by michael that they were stealing off him...the next day the electricity was off in their room...
another couple on honeymoon spent their holidays at another appartment complex down the road-the annixis- and got free champagne whilst sitting there.
the area is lovely, but if you do stay at these appartments, it is about 30 mins walk down the road and across a very busy road to the beach which is shingle. The bus is a 20 min walk to get to, but will take you to rhodes-the old town is well worth a visit. We would go back to this area, but would stay down the road at the annixis appartments because they are very genuine people and make you feel safe.love to all the people we made friends with on holiday-
