I HAVE just got off the plane from...
1 / 10
Aug 2008, Miss Joan Keegan

I HAVE just got off the plane from this place, & i wld never ever(EVEN IF FREE) WLD GO BACK THERE!! THE OWNER IS AN AGGORANT PIECE OF WORK,& FROM 1 DAY 2 THE NEXT CLD NEVER JUDGE WHAT MOOD HE WAS GOIN 2 BE IN! day 1, in this place we arrived, wasn't over-whelmed, but thought hey give it a chance! we checked in at 6am, no air conditioning, so asked reception if i cld purchase sum, refused point blank, & my 11 daughter needed a drink of water, as our bag's were lost at rhodes ( I know not their fault), but refused again, only the owner had the keys, & i asked hercules why? He said he know nothing? so myself & my daughter lay stuck 2 the bed in oppresive heat, had 2 open da balcony door, & when we woke 2 hours laters we both covered in bites, so when i went 2 the owner i asked why we couldn't get a/c & water, he said he doesn't trust his staff! we went onto have the worst holiday ever, ( aside from a boat trip) & the room is basic, no fridge, no tv, no radio, nothing! i know this place is 2 star, but the food we paid for was laid out as we were arriving, and the staff were very abrupt, especially with kids! the only good thing in my opionion was da pool, it was kept very clean ( except when a younger child had a number 2init, on our last day)!when u spend money at this place the owner is ok, but the last day i refused 2 spend a penny, as he basically ignored me & my daughter 4 the whole last 2 days of our trip, also i noticed there were alot of people complaining about the maids taking peoples perfume, money, & there were 3, that told me 2 keep anything valuable secure! As i was leaving the bar, when it was closing one nite, this guy michael made suggestive comments, ( which i made clear 2 him were in appropriate! also 2 one other parents 14 old, which didn't go down very well, all i can say its not the hotel, its the owner, & i am reporting this guy to my olympic holidays! NEVER AGAIN!!!!

My partner and I stayed here for a week and we have to say it was the best holiday we've ever had! The staff were really friendly, helpful, honest, generous people, and made us feal really welcome.
Our room was abit basic, but all you do is sleep and shower in there anyway, I recommend getting the air conditioning its worth it! The room was always clean and very comfortable we had a balcony with distant views of the turkish mountains.
We were sad to go and loved it so much that we're already looking at going back again this september!

I have just returned from Rhodes...
10 / 10
Aug 2008, Miss Ruth Houseman

I have just returned from Rhodes having stayed in Hotel Lisa for one week with a friend (we are teachers aged 29 and 24).
The hotel is small and family run which makes is very friendly. There is a small pool with a bar serving food as well as drinks and icecreams until 6pm each day. At 6pm the main bar opens which usually stays open until 2-3am depending on the mood of the people drinking. The pool opens from 8am-8pm.
On the first night we met George, an 18 year old, who was very polite and helpful who greeted us and showed us to our room. The rooms were simple, yet extremely clean. Self-catering are the rooms on the ground floor only so if you book for B&B you will not get a fridge (bear this in mind). Air-conditioning is not essential but I would recommend if on the ground floor so you don't need your door open on a night-7euros a day which is money well spent!
The pool during the day was usually quiet, many folks were sunbathing and some families were playing in the pool. There are sunloungers around the pool. Before the pool are a number of sunloungers which is on a different level to the pool (you walk up about 8 steps to the pool above). This area was a suntrap and also had picnic tables at your convenience. Spending days at the poolside was perfect. There was sometimes a well needed breeze! Most of the other holiday makers went off for dinner about 6-7pm, at this point my friend and I found that every night we spent at least an hour in the pool alone and enjoyed the whole area to ourselves until sunset! Perfect to finish off the next chapter of your book.
Night times are good fun. If you love a good cocktail then stay at the main bar. Michael is an excellent host and always makes you smile! There are many a good time to be had at the hotel bar and there is entertainment some nights including kareoke, bingo and BBQ's. As the hotel is small, you easily make friends with many other folks providing you have the people skills to do so! Michael and George work as a team behind the bar each night and whatever you need, they will sort it for you. I would recommend sitting at the bar itself so you really get to know the hosts. They are always up for a good time and want to see you enjoy yourself no matter what! We were offered free drinks most nights and always had plenty of free shots at the bar too! The music is good and they are happy to turn it up or down according to your preferences. Ask them to perform some Greek dancing...very good fun! The hotel is not loud on a night and they do their upmost to keep it quiet in the early hours!
If you fancy doing something different then I would recommend walking to the main street which is about 15 mins which offers loads of different restaurants. We visited Whispers, Locos (a mexican) and Hippocampus to name but a few. There are of course many more. For a starter and main meal with wine we usually spent up to £15 Euros each. Look out for other hotels along the streets too as they are happy to offer you their entertainment each night.
Shops-there is a local shop 5 mins walk from Hotel Lisa. Good for water and others bits, however to get fresh bread you need to go to the main road (10 mins further) and cross the busy road to the amazing bakery!!!! There is a super market before you cross the road too and they also supply everything you might need. Carry on down this road and you come to the beach at Ixia. Sunloungers to hire at 7 euros for 2. It is a shingle beach so take your flipflops for comfort. It is pleasant though and I'd especially recommend sunset there.
If you fancy leaving Ixia for the day there is a bus that goes to Rhodes Town Mon-Fri directly outside the hotel. Fail to get that one, they go every 15 minutes from the main road (15 min walk) and it's 2 euros to get there. From Rhodes Town you can get the bus to anywhere including Faliraki and Lindos. They offer boat trips from Rhodes Town to many islands too. Rhodes town is beatiful and I'd recommend lunch on a roof terrace in the old part!
On the whole, Hotel Lisa is a place for anyone in need of a quiet, relaxing and stress-free holiday. It suits small families, couples, or friends in 2s or 3s. I absolutely loved the place! I shall miss Michael and George very much and intend to go back to see them next year! We have even exchanged email and home addresses! They treated us like royality each and every day-you don't get that in England! 10 out of 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nov 2007, Mrs Mena Cameron

You lot that have given it more than four out of 10 must have stayed at a different Lisa hotel than me!
The owner was unwelcoming unless you stayed and spent you euros there every night. The rooms were basic and it would have been nice to have had clean matching towels every day, but alas no.
The self catering was a two ring hob and the cutlery drawer was so high up on the wall that I had to stand on the stool to get it down.
The only redeeming feature was in fact the swimming pool which was great.
The walk to the main road wasn’t so bad but if you are on the elderly side it would be a bit too far to walk.

I had a great time with my husband! It is a lovely quiet place, surrounded by many trees near the Ixia centre. The staff was really helpful and our room was clean and neat. I really enjoyed the quiz night and the free drinks. Thanks a lot Michael!

I have to say that some of the...

Aug 2007, nicensteady

I have to say that some of the comments on here really shock me and I wonder if they are talking about the same Hotel.
Having paid £240 each for 2 weeks B+B in high season including flights and transfers we decided that no matter how bad the reviews were we were going to make the best of this long overdue holiday. We have had 14 Greek holidays in the last ten years and never paid more than £250 each, that’s tight Yorkshire folk for you!
We were very warmly greeted by the lady on reception who turned out to be the owner’s sister. She informed us that the hotel now had air conditioning and that safety deposit boxes were available if required. We paid a very reasonable 6 Euros per day for the air con which saved our lives considering it was 43 degrees when we arrived! (It’s 7 Euros if you book one day at a time).
Our first impressions of the hotel were that although a little dated by UK standards it was very, very clean. The staircase to our room on the second floor was bright, airy, and again spotless.
Our room (201) was modestly furnished with two pine beds, two bedside tables, a coffee table, mirror, double wardrobe, kettle, and two mugs. On the balcony there were two chairs and a small table. The bathroom was a little disappointing in that the tiles were a bit dated and the sanitary ware was poorly laid out, but again spotless with towels that anyone would be proud to hang on the line! The beds had brand new mattresses and crisp white sheets and pillow cases and no missing or broken slats! The beds were firm but comfortable.
Outside the pool was fantastic and very clean. It had brand new parasols, sun beds, and side tables in white plastic. There was a pool bar come snack bar which had a limited menu for food but was well stocked with drinks. The food was really very good and great value for money (try the egg, chips and beans….best in Rhodes). It is run by the owner’s brother in law and stays open until 6pm by which time the main bar opens.
In the evening most people take a steady stroll down to Ixia it takes exactly 10 minutes (we timed it) to get to the main road and a restaurant called Whispers which has a good menu, fair prices but slow service. There is also a good bus service which runs every 15 minutes. Jump on this for two stops (1.30 Euros) and you are at the best bars and restaurants the most popular being. Which is Italian owned and very, very busy, so try to eat before 8.30 or after 10pm (1 litre of wine, a large Greek salad and large pizza cost 24 Euros…£16).
Take a leisurely stroll back to the hotel on foot which takes 25 minutes.
At the hotels main bar you will find Michael (the owner) and George (his Son) entertaining the guests. Michael served his apprenticeship in all the best bars and restaurants in Rhodes and is well known on the Island. You will never meet a more genuine, friendly and kind person in your life.
The Father/Son bond is a pleasure to behold. Everyone is made to feel very welcome. During our stay there were lots of single men and women all of which were made to feel part of one huge family. With reasonable prices, generous measures, free shots, free peanuts and popcorn, a great atmosphere good music it’s no wonder that the bar stayed open till 3 or 4 AM. But don’t worry you will not be kept awake if you retire early, Michael keeps the noise levels down and asks that people at the bar respects the other guests who may be sleeping.
The breakfasts are a bit of a disaster, we asked Michael about this, and he said that he also was not happy with them and is looking to change them. His problem is that the Baker delivers the rolls and croissants at 1am and therefore by 8am they are 7 hours old and past their best.
In conclusion if you don’t like walking, or a quiet location, or if you want all the modern conveniences of a five star hotel, and want to insult the owner and moan constantly, then the Lisa is not for you. Remember if someone was staying in your home and moaned about the accommodation you wouldn’t have much time for them either!
However, if you want a relaxing holiday, in a spotless family run hotel, with a great pool choose the Lisa and you too will feel like one of the family! See you next year!

We have just returned from a week's...

Aug 2007, Mr G Jones

We have just returned from a week's holiday at the Lisa Hotel and had a fantastic time. Michael, George and the family could not do enough for us. Yes the rooms are basic but with air con and the fact that the rooms were cleaned every day, maid service every day, only somebody who likes 'nit picking' could find fault.
If we had a tiny criticism, the breakfasts were basic to say the least, but this is the same all over Greece unless you book a five star hotel.
The Hotel Lisa has a lovely pool area, a nice bar at night time, not too crowded, and the bar stays open until late, no loud music is played with double-glazing in the rooms you couldn't hear anything anyway.
The brochure said entertainment was limited, we disagree, with Michael there was entertainment every night. There weren't many nights when people were not laughing and having a good time.
It is about a 10 minute walk from the main road but that said, it was a lovely walk because all the locals speak.
The fact that it is small means that Michael and his family are able to take pride in every customer who they knew by name. Michael had just done a very long day and when we spoke to him and said how much we had enjoyed it, he said it meant more to him than anything else.
Service like this is very hard to find anywhere. Roll on next year, we will be back!

We stayed in the Lisa hotel for 2 weeks. On arrival we were treated great with a warm welcome. The owner Mike was great as to were the staff who we found to be all very helpful.
The pool and pool bar was great with lovely food. The rooms were cleaned every day. They also have BBQ and karaoke on Mondays which is great with Greek dancing and games quiz nights. The is a good atmosphere around the bar.
Ixia is only 15 mins away. Ialysos about 20 mins - they all have great bars and restaurants.
In all a great holiday.

We have just returned from a most...

Jul 2007, Mr D Robinson

We have just returned from a most excellent 2 week stay at the Lisa Hotel.
The owner Michael, son George and family made us more welcome than any other hotel we have stayed in. The rooms are basic as you would expect for a 2 star hotel and very, very clean and comfortable, which surprised us. They also are fully air conditioned (at a very reasonable daily rate).
The rooms are cleaned every morning to a high standard, as is the hotel and grounds, the whole place looks really neat and tidy!
The Lisa Hotel has a great pool area with plenty of sunloungers and bar area, where you can get good food, drink and just relax. The main Hotel pool bar opens at 6pm and closes 3am+ which we found great. There is someone at reception 24 hours a day and the hotel also has safety deposit boxes, internet access, pool table, air hockey etc.
The Hotel is slightly out of the Ixia area but only a 20 min slow walk will get you there, if you need a taxi to go anywhere though Michael will sort it out for you. I found the location ideal because it was on a small road, no busy traffic.
Before we left on our holiday I had read a few bad reviews on this hotel which sort of worried us, but I can safely say ALL the bad reviews you may have read must have been from some seriously fussy people, who expected 4-5 star for their money.
We will be going back to stay at the Lisa Hotel for sure!

Jun 2007, Mr S Rawlings

We stayed at the Hotel Lisa and had a great time, it did say in the brochure it was a good hotel for a base.
The owners were so very helpful and we had a great time there it is only a 15 minute walk to Ixia. We found the room was basic but ok and far from dirty. We are going back there this year.
People do not understand that the owners of the hotels get a very small amount of the money from the tour operators in the Hotel Lisa I think its only 5e a night they get to provide bed and breakfast.

I stayed at the Lisa and had a wonderful time! We were given a very warm welcome by Michael the owner.
The rooms are very basic but comfortable. The pool area was great, not too crowded, the bar was lovely and we chilled out.
The hotel is slightly 'out of town' but perfect for peace and quiet and country walks! We will definitely be going back!

Hotel Lisa was the most horrendous...
2 / 10
Sep 2006, Miss L R  Haden

Hotel Lisa was the most horrendous place me and my friend have every stayed in.
On arrival the Hotel was decorated in neon lighting and horrific paint work. After having no help at all with our cases and being given our key we were put on the bottom floor after requesting a 2nd or 3rd floor room. Our room was at the end of a dark, narrow corridor, very poor lighting and had a nicely broken lock to greet us.
The room had a damp smell, 3 single beds, a table with a kettle and red and yellow plastic mugs. This was our self catering facilities! The bathroom was dirty and 60's style with a leaking shower, broken toilet seat and broken bin. The towels that were provided included 1 NHS Property towel, 1 beach towel, 1 white towel with initials sewn into it and 1 white towel. It was disgusting.
Our 'sea view' from our balcony was in fact the pool, we were a good half hour away from the beach, it was not in sight, and being in the centre of Ixia was in fact being a 45 minute walk away, we were definitely out in the sticks, surrounded by fields.
We would not recommend anyone to stay here and will definitely not be returning!
