Almost finished a two week holiday at...

Sep 2008, Mr K Burke

Almost finished a two week holiday at the Lisa and I have to say that I have realy enjoyed it. And how the owner is not in a loony bin by now is a mystery to me. I have been unfortunate to overhear some of the complaints that guests have raised while I was sitting in the reception area and here are some of them.
One lady complained that she diddnt have a fridge in her room. The owner explained that a fridge is not included in the price but they are available to hire if required. The lady said that she had asked for one when she booked. The owner asked if she had paid Olympic for the fridge. The lady said no. So the owner again explained that they were available to hire but did not come as standard in two star accomodation. At this point the lady shouted forget it and stormed back to her room. Half an hour later she retuned and said that her boyfriend was allergic to mosquitos and therefor didnt want to face the pool. (god knows why she booked a mediterainian holiday if he was allergic to mosquitos) The owner said we dont have mosquitoes because he sprays the surrounding area with insectecide. The lady was very rude and insisted that she changed rooms. The owner explained that the hotel was full. The lady moaned even more. ( by which time I was ready to slap her) The owner then spoke to another guest and managed to get her room swapped with another guest who was delighted to get a pool view.
An hour later she was back again. This time she said her room was too small and that it over looked waste land and was too dusty (at this point I was loosing the will to live) she claimed to be allergic to dust. The owner then lost his cool and told her to like it or lump it.
After finaly draging the Olymipic rep to the hotel she moaned so much that they agreed to move her to another hotel at her own expence (serves her right if you ask me, good blooming ridance!)
Another guest wanted free air con, when the owner refused she threatened to put a bad review on the net saying that she had had money stolen from her room. I have left money , passports, video camera and credit cards in my room over the course of this holiday and have never lost a thing. The cleaners are 100% honest hard working ladys.
I am not saying that the Lisa will suit everyone but just be aware that when you read extreme reveiws they are normally writen by extreme guests. Some of which are not used to the basic accomodation that is so typical in greece.

Happy holidays you could do far worse than this place belive me.

we know it was a 2 star but felt it...

Sep 2008, Mr A Phillips

we know it was a 2 star but felt it should have been less. the room was small with no fridge, not good regarding the heat as hot food and drinks bought is not nice. The brochure said quiet hotel (the reason we chose it) but the bar shut between 2 and 3am and as we were not far from the bar even with earplugs in sleep was impossible. We asked if we could have breakfast one day as we were going on a coach trip George said NO breakfast is at set time no compromise. The taxi prices differed considerably to what Michael told us so beware. The road from outside the hotel to the main road (850mtrs) is busy and quite dangerous as there does not seem to be a speed limit, when you reach the main road it is very very busy and difficult to cross. Would not recommend the resort or the hotel.

I stayed in Hotel Lisa during August...

Sep 2008, Mr N Waddecar

I stayed in Hotel Lisa during August and had a lovely time. I have been to the Greek Islands many times and this is very typical of Greek accomodation.
When staying in Greece (unless you spend well into the thousands) you get comfortable but basic accomodation; this is a two star hotel- but a very nice, cosy and friendly one; including a massage chair, a pool and the option of purchasing air conditioning.
I booked a late deal and got two weeks B&B for only five hundred pounds which included a single person supplement; so all in all it was great value.
Just remember if you are going on holiday on a budget don't expect a palace because you'll be disappointed; palaces cost lots of money - go with a realistic premise and you'll enjoy your holiday, and of course leave your problems at home, remember, a holiday is to relax, unwind and find peace of mind!
Message for George: Don't be too upset when City beat Omonia!

My friend and i, had really good time...

Sep 2008, Mr Tom Whatson

My friend and i, had really good time at the "Lisa Hotel".We stayed for two weeks.
Michael(onwer) and george(his son) give to us great time!!!
The hotel is small but very clean, with clean pool area.Every night at the bar we had very good time with michael's free shots! Also, at the mondays the hotel had karaoke night and friday quiz night!
All the people there are like one big family.I met two girls at the pool and they told me that they asked the manager for free aircon and the manager did not give.Being upset they told us.
The girls write very bad reviews(about stealing),all what they said on the review is not true. They said to the onwer that they lost "15 cents!!!!!!!!"(xa!xa!) from their pocket(no 8 euros as they said on review!)
Keep up the good work Michael and George. We will come basic to the "LISA HOTEL"
next year

I'd just like to start off by saying...
3 / 10
Aug 2008, Miss A Laren

I'd just like to start off by saying I've never officially complained about anything but I feel compelled to let people know about this hotel.
I read the reviews on this website before booking this hotel and saw all the 10/10's and thought it can't be that bad for a 2 star hotel. As long as the rooms are clean, I don't mind if the rooms are basic. I convinced myself that I was only interested in the pool and even the bad reviews say the pool is nice so thought I'd book it.
To say the rooms are basic is an understatement. When I was traveling I stayed at hostels far superior to the Lisa Hotel. My friend and I looked passed this as we thought we wouldn't be in the room much anyway. The thing we couldn't over look was how unhygienic the bathroom was. There's a list of things I could pick up on but the most disgusting was the toilet brush holder filled with diluted poo. We also had a cockroach by the kitchen sink every night. We thought it couldn't get much worse than I discovered that the cleaners we stealing change out of my jean pockets which i'd left on top of my suitcase. It worked out to be 8 Euros over a couple of nights. I know it doesn't sound like much but I was on a budget. Plus the thought of cleaners riffling through my stuff left a bad taste in my mouth. I plucked up the courage to complain to the manager (as I said, I hate complaining) and he point blank told me I was lying and that there is no chance his cleaners would steal. I asked him if he wouldn't mind talking to his cleaners and investigating the situation but he refused as he was "150% sure" his cleaners wouldn't steal.
If you do stay at this hotel, I would recommend taking all your money with you during the day and pay the 18 Euros for the safe for extra piece of mind. I'm glad I did or else I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to relax about our passports!

I went with my dad and brother and we...

Aug 2008, Miss Bethany Hammond

I went with my dad and brother and we all thought it was great.
when i first found out about the holiday location i thought i would have to do miles of walking, but it is only a short walk from the nearest bar, shop, and bus stop then just walk on a little bit more and your in ixia. On the first day we were so exighted we walked into ialisos and back.
where the hotel was, it was great. our hotel room was 103. the hotel was nice peacefull and chilled out. you could go for a nice dip in the pool or relax on the sun beds or just sit in the snack bar next to the pool. Or do what we did go exploor the rhodos town and the island.
we thought it was great that we could just hire out a car at the hotel and Michael took care of it all. we thought the family were great and we couldnt of asked of a more hard working family. I had to ask michael to sit down for 5 minites. when they say they work 24 houres for the people who stay there,THEY REALLY DO. They are such a caring family. But they are not boring michael and his son george were great when working the bar they are constly making me laugh and the other people around me laugh. michael is so crazy and fun and very very very hard working. Me and my brother talk a little torist greek and they would teech us greek and talk to us in greek it was soo great i would go back any time agean. Evry thing was perfect
the maids cleaned every day
the air con was great
the pool was hudge
the location was perfect for our family
the island of rhodes was sooo beautiful i am going to live there
and most importantly the family were so friendly and funny.
one night michael invited me to try a greek sweet at his table and all his family were sat round the table eating them. we all had a big laugh.
michael ang george were always giving out crisps and popcorn also free shots.
And on the last day when i was sad michael was trying to cheer me up it is such a great hotel and michael needs to learn to sit down a take a break himself. him and george and in the daytime ron work soooooooooooooo hard but at the same time have soo much fun
EVRY THING WAS GREAT AND DONT LISTEN TO THE BAD REVEUS BECAUSE THE HOTEL THE LOCATION AND THE PEOPLE WERE ALL GREAT AND IT WAS THE BEST HOTEL AND HOLIDAY EVER.

Reading the reviews on here has made...
10 / 10
Aug 2008, Other Anon Anon

Reading the reviews on here has made me quite angry if people have nothing better to do than complain that towels don't match and the decor is dated then maybe they should stay at home or try booking into 5 star for a change!!
Hotel Lisa was just what I wanted and everything the brochure description said it would be. It was off the beaten track and it was basic but its 2 star and £250 in peak season, what do people really expect? Especially in Greece which is known for its laid back and basic approach to life, it is its charm and why people return year after year!
The rooms are basic but with the sun shining outside - who wants to spend time in the room other than to sleep and shower. I was just happy to get towels and a shower curtain and not realy fussed whether they matched or not. Rooms were cleaned everyday and linen and towels changed every couple of days - alot more than the compkainers on here do at home I would think. Self catering meant a fridge, toaster and two hob stove so don't plan on cooking more than pasta and sauce, but it will do. Air con is not included in the price (as stated in the brouchure) but can be hired from Michael for 7 euros a day.
The pool is lovely and clean (if a child pooed in the pool, can you realy blame the manager?) and a great place to chill out and read a book, catch a few rays or swim some laps. There is a bar for food and drinks all day and at nigh the hotel bar opens.
In the evenings if you want to eat other than pizza you need to walk into Ixia, there are resturants within 10/20 minutes, but for more choice you can walk a little further. I would then recommend going back to the Hotel for a few drinks at the bar or a game of pool. As it is a small hotel so it is easy to sit around and talk to people all evening while enjoying a few drinks. You will be treated brilliantly if you are capable of a smile and know how to talk in a friendly manner. George and Michael couldn't do enough for us during our stay and went out of their way to make sure that we enjoyed our time there, suggestions that they are inappropriate towards customers seem extremely unlikely to me and I can only imagine that their friendly nature was misinterpretted by people looking for a reason to complain!! If you do not wish to spend your evenings in the hotel then you can go to Ixia or Rhodes to find entertainment there. Obvioulsy the more time you spend there the more you get to know the staff and the better you will be treated, at the ended of the day it is a business, a way of life and any good business person knows that people spend money if they feel welcomed and are having fun!! If you are miserable and complain after they have put in so much work, why should they treat you any differently!! They don't need your custom that much!
I would definatley recommend Hotel Lisa to anyone who wants a quiet and relaxing holiday in a friendly atmosphere but not for those who seek a loud party going atmosphere or who are scared of a little excercise to get out and about. Although they make families welcome and there is a small play area it is not the best location for children who seek entertainment.
I had a wonderful time and hope that those who are too narrow minded to appreciate Hotel Lisa's qualities do not come back as they only ruin others holidays with there complaining.
Keep up the good work Michael and George, I would definately come back!

Me, my husband and 2 teenage...
9 / 10
Aug 2008, Mrs Carol Betts

Me, my husband and 2 teenage daughters recently returned from 2 weeks at the Lisa Hotel and had a great time. We were slightly disappointed as we pulled up to the Hotel as it is not particularly pleasing on the eye. However, this was more than made up for by the friendliness of the staff (particularly Michael, George and Maria) and the cleanliness of the Hotel and surrounding areas.
Yes, the rooms are basic but this is a 2 star hotel not The Ritz. Our rooms were spotless and the sheets and towels were changed 3 times a week.
Michael and George went the extra mile in the evenings to ensure that everyone was entertained. They also provided free shots and savoury nibbles frequently throughout the night. Also, on my husband's birthday Michael provided a suprise cake complete with candles and led the guests in a rousing chorus of "Happy Birthday"
If ever we needed directions or advice regarding the area Michael and George went out of their way to help.
I was upset to read some of the comments regarding Michael in one of the reviews. In our experience Michael was always very friendly (but never inappropriately so) to me, my husband and 2 daughters aged 15 and 17. In fact our girls have said it was one of the best holidays they have had.
My only criticism would be the breakfasts which were rather basic (maybe some fruit, cereals or eggs may have helped.)
All in all a really good holiday. Thanks Michael!
Carol and Keith

Just returned from a very enjoyable...

Aug 2008, Mrs R HANLON

Just returned from a very enjoyable two week holiday at the Hotel Lisa in Ixia Rhodes.
The Lisa is a two star hotel but we found everywhere to be spotlessly clean and well cared for.
Our room (201 overlooking the pool area) was basic but spacious and also had a kettle and cups so you could make hot drinks.
Bedlinen and towels changed 3 times a week.
The air conditioning is a must (7 euros a day).
Continental breakfast starts at 7-30am until 9.30am consisting of bread rolls, croissants, melba toast, sweet cake, butters, jams, cheese and ham (cheese and ham served 3/4 times a week) fruit juice, tea/coffee.
The reception has a nice seating area, TV, Internet access and small library.
The Hotel has a lovely pool area with sunbeds umbrellas, there is also a snack bar where meals and snacks can be had throughout the day.
Michael the owner, his wife Maria and son George were really nice people, very friendly, kind and helpful, as was all the other staff at the hotel.
In the evening the bar is a very pleasant place to sit and have a few drinks and socialise with other guests. Michael is a very generous host, he would bring treats e.g. nuts, popcorn, crisps and small shots of different cocktails and throughout the night he kept the party atmosphere going until the small hours.
For a two star the Hotel Lisa is brilliant and we would definitely go back.
