Reviews of Regente Hotel, Benidorm

I have just returned yesterday from the Regente (11/11/08 - 18/11/08) and was struck down on my second day there with sickness & diarohea. The whole hotel is talking about the sickness as MANY people are being struck down with it soon after arriving. One of our neighbours in the hotel was hospitalised.

I've checked reports for this hotel on the net and have found NUMEROUS reports of the same reported symptoms. I wish I'd read these reviews before booking the holiday for her as the problem appears to be a recurrent one with reps telling us its never happened before it must be a bug that someone's brought with them! This later changed to its an airbourne bug. Speaking to local shops and bars we were told the Regente is well known for sickness & diarohea where large numbers of guests are inflicted.

The hotel appears clean and the food looked lovely although I only ate a couple of times. The only other problem apart from the sicknes was that the room walls are paper thin worse than anywhere I've ever stayed in.

People need to be aware that this problem does exist and for some reason keeps recurring at intervals inflicting large numbers of guests but certainly last week, this week, and next week look very bleak for anyone staying there.

I went to the Hotel Regente with my two children on the 21st of August until the 31st of August.We thought the staff were helpful and friendly.The meals were very good .Rooms were basic but clean and had everything we needed.The pool area was was great for the young and the old with plenty of sunbeds and umbrella's.We had an excellent time and would definatley recommend it.

i went to the regente with three children age 17mths, 8yrs and 13yrs and my partner. We found the staff very nice from us arriving on the 5th aug 2008 to us leaving on the 12th aug 2008, the hotel is very clean and first expressions were exceptional.

We were shown to our room and it was very clean and had everything we needed, air conditioning, comfy beds etc, we had fresh towels and bedding everyday which were beautifully clean, the pool was lovely and the food was always hot with loads of choice restaurant was very clean and spacious and waiting staff really friendly, i would definatly take my family there again.

The people that have written bad reviews about this hotel were obviously in a different hotel or walking round with there eyes shut.

The Regente was a wonderful place to take your holiday..the staff were happy and helpful.The hotel is very clean and their is plenty of food to choose from,also the day/night entertainment was brilliant.Waterpolo is a most in the pool.The Hotel is very close to the beach and shops,thePALACE is a most for an evening out,also the water parks are in walking distance book around the corner at the Information centre.Don't miss Dinah Rodd the comedian shes a most....also the Acrobats,and many more acts are worth an evening by the pool.its great for all ages ,plenty to suit everyone.DONT GO ON THE FREE TRIP THEY WONT TO SELL YOU A MATTRESS!!!!!!!!!YOU LOSE 1+1/2hrs.of your day out+traveling time,u dont get alot of free time.We will be going back next year.

We visited hotel last year and i can honesly say i did not hear one person say they wear sick it was not until my freind whent in sep the same year that i new anything about bug but we enjoyed it so much we are going again on aug26th and we canot wait and if their was a bug and i,m not sure thair was i,m sure it is gone by now

booked hotel online for 41 pound per night , stayed for 3 nights , first classs hotel , clean modern, ice cold air con in room lovely sun facing balcony , very nice full choice breckfast and evening meal, very lovely pool, staff good , cant fault the place at all.

all ready booked in for next month for me other long weekend break, amazing value , wish i was still there a ++++++++++++++++

Mine and my familys second visit to the regente,not as good as the first, childrens entertainment on a night was very poor.Hotel is clean and food is good also a good sized pool. Staff are very friendly.kids clubs r good too.Needs better entertainment,we spent most nights goin out not like our first vist in 2007.There are plenty of clubs and pubs close bye so this was not a problem.

Hotel deserved at least 3 star. very clean. quite modern. air conditioning actually worked very well. unlike some hotels. food was very good. cater for the english very well. english tv channels in room. would go back again. 15 min stroll to beach.

staff very friendly. must say one of the best 3 stars i have stayed in. would recommend. excellent for familys. kids clubs. entertaiment every night. short stroll for shops. pubs and centre.

We stayed for a week in this hotel (myself, my husband and our 5 year old) at the end of May. The rooms are very basic and the TV reception in the room wasn't very good and one of the lights wasn't working. The sheets were never changed either the whole week we were there. The food though was excellent, we could not fault it. Plenty of choice and always hot. The pool was also cleaned regularly. The only drawback was the fact that the entertainment that was on each night in the hotel was very poor and way too loud. It was very difficult for our son to get to sleep as it was literally booming out! The staff were very friendly. Overall a good hotel but I would recommend going out of an evening to have a little more fun!

stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks with my dad and 2 chidren aged 12 and 8 nice hotel very clean nice food .not enogh sun bathing space everyone crammed together spent a few days at the lovely beach which is a ten min walk.the only downside was my father spent 5 days in the nearby hospital 5 mins from the hotel with a bad ear infection he was well looked after and he said they treat him like a king .overall id say the regente is well worth a 2 week stay there just need a bit of entertainment for the kids in the day.if i went back to benidorm i would stay there again.

Forget all the negative reviews about this hotel, we found it brilliant.



The staff were friendly and very welcoming, the hotel clean and comfortable. At no time during our stay did we feel in any way unwell. We think it should be rated higher than a 2 star.



We are very much looking forward to returning this year.

Bugger "the bug" its back 2 beni we come. :-)

Forget all the negative feedback for this hotel. We have just arrived back after a weeks stay.



For a three star hotel the facilities and rooms are first class. The food was good and always piping hot. The breakfasts were great with a choice of egg, bacon, sausages, and even black pudding !!



We found that there was no need to go down town for entertainment as quite a few of the acts appeared at the hotel and the drinks were a lot cheaper than at the clubs. There were also happy hours and a cheap beer night on Saturday.



The staff were also first class and the hotel was spotless.



We will definitely be returning to this hotel in the near future.

This was our second visit to this hotel and after this year’s holiday will not be returning.



This was a reunion with other people we met the previous year. There was alot of illness when we were there, including the daughter of a friend with us, which we still believe is still ongoing.



The entertainment was rubbish - a few acts spoke Spanish throughout their act much to the disappointment of the children because they couldn’t understand what was happening.



Food was ok but out of a 14 day stay roast beef was on the menu for 8 of them.



The DJ at the start of the hols didn’t have a clue what to do to entertain the kids – he didn’t last long, when the replacement arrived me my friends supplied cds for him to use and basically had to provide the entertainment. It wasn’t till late in the 2nd week we got a girl called Estelle who was quite good considering being thrown in at the deep end.#



Bar staff were pleasant enough apart from one you told us he wasn’t there to smile. Don’t think we will be returning to Benidorm for a while because of this experience.

The Regente is a 2 star budget hotel but should definitely be in the 3 star category. I stayed for a week with my partner and can definitely recommend it.



The hotel was clean and the staff courteous. The food was plentiful and top quality

(Great English breakfast). I'd heard rumours about the infamous 'bug' but there was no trace of it and nobody complained while I was there.



Bar prices were good (1.5 Euros for a bottle of San Miguel). All in all a good place to stay. It’s a pity the weather was terrible the week I stayed.

First of all this 'bug' that is going round has absolutely nothing to do with the hotel cleanliness.



After working on cruise ships for many years the 'bug' is well known and unfortunately it seems to be where elderly people are. This is due to many things mainly personal hygiene wash your hands after the loo!



But back to the main point I went expecting a 3* accommodation and that is what I got.



Clean rooms, friendly welcoming staff. It was in an ideal position pretty much everything was on our doorstep.



Would go back but found Benidorm cater more for the SAGA louts!
