Hotel Regente

First of all this 'bug' that is going round has absolutely nothing to do with the hotel cleanliness.
After working on cruise ships for many years the 'bug' is well known and unfortunately it seems to be where elderly people are. This is due to many things mainly personal hygiene wash your hands after the loo!
But back to the main point I went expecting a 3* accommodation and that is what I got.
Clean rooms, friendly welcoming staff. It was in an ideal position pretty much everything was on our doorstep.
Would go back but found Benidorm cater more for the SAGA louts!

My husband and I arrived at the hotel with our three children not realising that this was a Saga hotel.
The hotel was basic and clean the rooms where cleaned and freshened each day and the staff where pleasant.
The bug that was still going around in August was still alive and attacking the tummy of most people.
The children where disappointed with the facility's, when it rained there was nothing for them to do either in the hotel or in Benidorm. The kids club was not much use the times that it was open where at times that you would be out or returning to get yourself ready for dinner.
The hotel was a big disappointment after using Med Playa hotels before.

Wow. What a great short break we had, the staff were great and the bar staff Lewis and Michael were such a laugh.
Had my 4 year old daughter with me and a friend. My daughter loved it and wanted to go back straightaway for the kids club.
The food was good for me as a bit of a fussy eater and don’t like trying anything new.
Hotel was clean and pool was very clean. Kids play area is enclosed which was nice as kids could play and there was only one way in and out so they have a little bit more freedom.

Beware any potential travellers, the bug is alive,well and thriving at this hotel. We were violently sick and bed bound on alternate days for one day each and then we had absolutely no appetite for at least two days later.
As we were on holiday as a couple we of course stayed with one another through the ups and downs (anybody who has had this bug will know what I mean) We are reasonably fit and healthy people and it wiped us out completely but one lady was ill for 6 days! and another lady was hospitalised because she could not take her normal medication.
Apart from that it's a lovely little hotel but we won't be risking a return there because we don't want to spend another half of our holiday time stuck in the bathroom being ill!

Having been here in 2006, all the friends we made returned together because we had a fantastic time in 2006. To our disappointment 2007 was a big letdown.
Apart from all the illness in the hotel that we were not notified about, and had been ongoing since November 2006, there was no daytime entertainment which is advertised in the brochure.
We supplied the music as there was none in the first week and fair play to Estelle who was really threw in at the deep end on the second week, after we told her what the kids would like, she made the best out of a bad job.
Won’t be returning anytime soon. Staff at the bar and reception were great apart from one, who told us he was not paid to smile and come on, a smile costs nothing.

My family, my sisters family and our parents thought this hotel was excellent. We have just returned from a two week holiday and enjoyed ourselves.
The choice and amount of food was excellent. The pool is ideal for children as it hasn’t got a very deep end.
I would recommend this hotel to people with young children as it is child friendly, and I would consider going again in the near future.

I’ve just arrived back from the hotel Regente. We have been 4 times in the past 5 years and it was great, until we arrived this year and everyone was complaining about being unwell.
My daughter fell ill for 4 days she was very sick. The staff our trying there very best to help, but this hotel needs to be shut to clear up this bug/virus. It totally spoilt our holiday.
The entertainment was really bad as well, with myself and other having to supply music as there was none. We were not informed of this illness, and when you get there it’s a case of put up with it or go home.
It was a holiday from hell. The staff and reps tried their very best but its not good enough.

We have just returned from a two week stay, the hotel is really clean and the staff are friendly enough.
However, we did suffer from a tummy bug along with many other guests, we don't know whether it was from the food or some other source in the hotel, but we avoided the dinner hall just in case, so even though we paid for half board we ended up paying to eat else where. They must have known, because they increased hygiene precautions.
I am not saying we would never return to the hotel, but it won't be our first choice.
Night life in Benidorm is very fast and we didn’t find much for our 5 year old to do. But the teenagers loved it.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks it's very clean & is surrounded by friendly people the entertainment is really good & you can't forget victor the entertainer he's brill with the children, The pool is just right the food is really nice but theres not much choice of it. The down side to the hotel is that we had some of our money taken from our room wich we think was taken by the cleaner & we reported it but nothing was done about it but apart from that it's a perfect hotel for familys.

We booked this holiday without checking out any reviews. Not a good idea I know, I had read several bad reviews just before we were due to go, and was quite worried about what we were going to find.
The hotel is excellent value for money; the rooms were a little dated but were clean and comfortable. 10 mins walk to the beach and fantastic nightlife.
Can't really comment on the hotel entertainment as we were out every night at the numerous bars that had excellent entertainment on offer.
Pool was clean with plenty of sunbeds but found the staff to be a bit miserable.
The food was excellent, even a fussy 11 year old was very happy with the food on offer.
We met several people who have returned to this hotel year after year and I would certainly book again.
To sum up, excellent basic value for money accommodation in a quiet location but close to all the night life, great base for a holiday but if you like to spend the whole holiday in the hotel probably not for you as there is not much to do other than the pool.
