Submitted By: Mrs C CORCORANTHE CLOTHS AND PRESSIES ARE NOT CHEAP, BUT IF YOU LIKE FAKE BRANDS YOU GET A BARGAIN BUT NOT AS CHEAP AS TURKEY OR BULGARIA. THE FAGS WERE CHEAP THOU £1.70 A PCK (2.50 EUROS) THE ROLLING BACCY WAS NOT CHEAP 6 EUROS A 50GRM POUCH (£4.75).
NOW THE HOTEL WAS GREAT, WHEN WE FIRST GOT ON THE COACH WE HAD TO MAKE SEVERAL STOPS AND THE HOTELS WERE TERRIBLE LOOKING AND MY SONS WERE LOOKING AS WE HAD ARRIVED TO A HOLIDAY FROM HELL, WHEN ARRIVING AT THE LUCA THEY WERE OVER THE MOON. MARBLE FLOORS MODERN DECOR, THE SWIMMING POOLS WERE AMAZING, THE PEOPLE THAT WORKED THERE WERE VERY HELPFULL AND POLITE, LOOK AT THE TERIPINS IN THE POND OUTSIDE THE RECEPTION AHHH.
THE LOCAL BEER HAS A GOOD KICK TO IT, IF YOU LIKE COCKTAILS, THEY ARE NOT VERY STRONG SO ORDER YOUR COCKTAIL AND A DOUBLE SHORT AND MIX HA HA.
THE FOOD WAS GREAT, EVEN MY KIDS LIKED IT, LOTS OF LAMB, CHICKEN, PORK LOADS OF PASTA DISHES, RICE DISHES AND FREASH VEG TOO, THE FREE ICE WAS LIKE THE NEW FOREST ICE CREAM BACK HOME YUMMY. THE FRIDGE IN THE ROOM WAS WELL COLD, SO TOPUP YOUR EMPTY WATER BOTTLE FROM THE SNACK BAR OR RESTURANT AND TAKE BACK TO THE ROOM. HAIR DRYERS IN THE ROOM AND TOWELS, BUT NO TOWELS SUPPLIED AT THE POOL LIKE THE WEB-SITE TOLD ME, I DID COMPLAIN AND THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO ADJUST THE SITE.
IN ALL THE HOLIDAY WAS GREAT, JUST THE ENTERTAINMENT WAS NOT TO GOOD GERMAN KAREOKE AND GERMAN MUMA MIA HA HA WELL WHO CRES WHEN YOUR DRUNK AND IN GREAT COMPANY. IF YOUR BOOKING A FAMILY ROOM YOU'LL BE VERY PLEASED WITH YOUR ROOM, ONLY WE BOOKED 2 TWIN ROOMS AND ENDED UP ON THE GROUND FLOOR WHICH SOUNDS GREAT..... NO ITS UNDER GROUND, AND THE SO CALLED BALCONY THE WALL IS 8 FT TALL WITH A 20IN GAP AT THE TOP THAT LOOKED ONTO THE GRASS WHERE SUNBATHERS WERE, SO THERE FOOTBALLS WHERE ALWAYS COMING DOWN AND WHEN THE SPRINKLERS CAME ON YOUR WASHING WAS SOAKED AGAIN, THERE ARE TWIN ROOMS NOT IN A BUNKER BUT MAYBE YOU SHOULD REQUEST A FIRST FLOOR TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE.THE BUGS MAKE ALOT OF NOISE IN THE DAY AROUND THE POOL, THERE KINDA LIKE A SPRINKLER NOISE BUT IT WAS QUITE NICE, YOU MIGHTGET THE ODD ROACH IN YOUR ROOM WE HAD 2 OVER 11 DAYS,BUT THEN WE WERE UNDERGROUND, WOULD I GO AGAIN YES, BUT ID BOOK A FAMILY ROOM AND BOOK DAYTIME FLIGHTS AS OUR FLIGHT TIMES WERE TERRIBLE.
GO GO GO YOU'LL LOVE IT BUT HEED MY NOTES.. HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAY

Submitted By: Mr A ScottI wouldn't warn people to stay away from a holtel, or strongly recommend it. What I will do is give you the benefit of my familys experience.
No complaints about Thomas Cook at all so I will focus on the hotel itself. Hotel Luca is one of the better looking hotels in and around Faliraki. Occupying a cliff top position with some great views, the main building is modern, clean, and air conditioned (which is more than you can say about the actual accomodation).
Yes there is "air conditioning" but not modern or sufficient enough for the sort of tempreatures you can expect in Greece. The rooms are cleaned daily but they are by no means what you would expect from a "4 Star" hotel.
Germans..... Yes, this is essentially a German hotel. 80-90% of the guests are German, not surprising when I found out from the rep that the hotel is owned and run by a German board. Not that I have anything specific against German people in general!
Entertainment was practically non existent which for me was the most disappointing thing about the whole holiday. No disco, live music, karaoke, magic, variety to be had here. More like 3 German teenagers putting on a show that they have written in 5 minutes which involved creeping up behing oneanother and shouting BOO!?!
We paid for all inclusive but should have gone half board because we had to venture out so often for the sake of our sanity.
Sounds pretty damning so why have I given a rating of 6?
Well the food was fine and varied (assuming I got the food poisoning from a beach side restraunt)
The staff where very polite, helpful and friendly, the beach and bars of Faliraki are a 20 minute walk away, the swimming pools were very clean, and sunbeds usually available.
Other gripes:
Cockroaches. Hate the little blighters and had to get 3 huge ones out of my room
Drinks, ask for a beer and it comes in a little plastic cup which is half beer half froth so by the time you get back to your table it's gone
No bottled water provided
The bottom line is you get what you pay for. SO on that basis I guess Luca offers value for money.
I hope this insight of Summer 2008 helps you.
Happy Holidays!

Submitted By: Miss C NormanThe hotel was clean, spacious and the staff were friendly and easy to talk to. We had a welcoming arrival and were pleased with our comfortable, clean room with a great view of the pool.
The food was good quality with a wide choice for breakfast, lunch and evening. Everything from chips to squid, there was something for everyone.
Would definaltey recommend Olympic holidays as a tour operator. They were extremely useful and polite and we had a great time on the several excursions arranged by them. We visited Rhodes town, nearby beaches and had a boat ride to Lindos - fantastic
The hotel itself is ideal for families and couples as there is something for everyone. There are 2 main pools as well as an additional childs pool and a hot tub. As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel does seem to have a large german population, but we found in some cases these did provide a bit of entertainment (nick thier sun loungers one morning and you will see what we mean!!)
The location of the hotel was ideal for us, however, for older people or those with young children, it may be a bit of a treck to the beach. Although there are plenty of shops quite nearby. Considering the noisy and loud reputation of Faliraki, the hotel itself was perfectly situated out of that for those who dont want to get caught up in it. You can get some great views looking over Faliraki by night and day from the hotels terrace within the bar area.
Overall, would recommend this holiday 100% and if we weren't poor students we would go again immediatly! We will definatly return one day.
" I took my sister on this holiday to... "
Submitted By: becdorThe hotel itself was lovely, very friendly staff. Although very little for my sister to do as it was all German Entertainment for the kids. They did try and include her but it was very difficult to understand.
The food to be honest was nice initially at the beginning, come the third evening getting the same set menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner it was not nice at all. There was not a great variety for these three meals. Very disappointed as I had to make sure my sister had a substantial amount of healthy food.
The supermarkets had very little as it was end of season. The Food was my only issue, every thing else re: cleaning service, staff, and hotel in general very accommodating and good.
Before arriving at the boarding gate to get on the flight back home, I would have considered maybe coming back but to a different part of Rhodes.
Unfortunately as arriving to the boarding gate, my sister's boarding pass was taken (to be checked as is the routine); she was ushered to go down the ramp towards the bus, as I was stopped from going through. I tried to explain to the Airport staff that this CHILD was with me, I was ignored as she stepped in front of me blocking my way to getting to my sister.
Another member of staff came and ushered (put her arm around the childs shoulder) her down the path, then left her to get on to the bus unaccompanied and go to the plane unaccompanied.
During this, I had to wait a further 7minutes for another bus to arrive. The member of staff then handed me my sister's boarding card, not only did she with great determination send a child to a plane on its own, but with no boarding card so she couldn’t get on the plane.
Thankfully excel airways staff kept her on the plane until I arrived. It was reported to the Floor Manager of the Airport.
I am absolutely disgusted at the thought of what might have happened, and what they did with such determination. This will be reported further, but thought anyone who has small children or children of any age, when going to Rhodes be aware of this situation and how easily anything more serious could have happened.

Submitted By: Mr J A WoodfordThe spacious hotel was very well run and every member of staff we met spoke good English except a room maid or two but that hardly is a problem when a big friendly smile can say more than any words.
We found the food very enjoyable, plenty of it and varied although the main 4 meat/fish each day was rather repetitive during the last 2 or 3 days. Their theme nights were always well received and most enjoyable too. Plenty of drinks and cocktails were being consumed and (despite a few nutters who can’t wait to get drunk ASAP just because they're on holiday) a great time was had by all. Yes, there are plenty of Germans but most speak English and as a rule at least their kids were much better behaved than many of the English kids we encountered.
The entertainment was your typical "animation team best efforts" but sadly as it was mainly conducted in German we never really found out if they were that funny. On the face of it they probably weren’t. But, all the kids thought it was great and seemed to enjoy all the silly men and women falling over in silly costumes.
We've booked again so I reckon that speaks for itself....you'll never please everyone and as some people expect far more than they're actually paying for I guess some will disagree with my comments.

Submitted By: Mrs Pat BrainWhile the food was ok, the entertainment was geared up for the 90% of ignorant German guests, sunbeds were all taken by 8.30 no alternative but to go out each day.
I would not recommend Libra holidays to anyone, nor will we use them again.

Submitted By: Miss S & D DesmondThe hotel was clean and comfortable, our room was perfectly situated by the pool. There is a taxi service available from behind the reception, every single member of staff was helpful and spoke many different languages (English, German, French and Italian to name a few!!)
The cleaners had a well earned day off on Sunday. Through out the two weeks me and my sister were there they cleaned the rooms and even left us little presents!! This was the best holiday, with excellent service, value for money and lovely food. There was also a good range of drinks and refreshers. The hotel is perfectly situated - a 15 minute walk in to Faliraki centre and a 3min taxi ride for 4 euros! I have already booked to go back to this same hotel with the same tour operators! Can't wait!! :)!

Submitted By: Miss S DesmondThe others that have reviewed this holiday must have been really unlucky as I had the best holiday of my life there. The hotel is spotless and staff are warm and friendly: they all speak English. Some said that they were disappointed that the reps and staff couldn't speak English only German or Greek but how about they try and learn other languages. At one point on holiday there was a Greek woman, an French woman and a German woman all speaking in English, making jokes and actually understanding each other!
Anyway back to the point, the swimming pools were out of this world and the look of the restaurant, the rooms, the pool and the staff were all perfect. The food was lovely as well. The Med nights made sure there was something for every nationality and age.
The rooms were kept spotless and the sheets and towels changed everyday and with that the cleaners were all friendly and very helpful. So what they had a day off on a Sunday? They have over 800 rooms to clean!
The hotel was close enough to the fantastic nightlife but far enough to not hear the noise! And whoever was complaining about the walk, stop it, as you could ask for a taxi at reception and they were prompt and polite. Even when me and my sister strolled in at 7 in the morning :) the receptionist was well mannered and helpful!
This was by far the best holiday of my life in the nicest hotel, I'm booking again a.s.a.p!
" Staying at hotel Luca was very nice,... "
Submitted By: Miss L KitchenThe food on the other hand was the weakest point, alot of the food was salad and I think mainly catered for vegetarians, the food was not good for children as there was chips but chips are not the healthiest meal when you have to have them daily.
Also the entertainment is good but for children under the age of around 10, there is nothing for teenagers or adults to do on a night and with the nightlife around a good 20 minutes half an hour walk away most people choose to stay in the complex itself. There should at least be a disco or something for the adults and teenagers on a night.
90% of the people who go there are German, and this did put a downer on the holiday as most of the holiday reps spoke in German and the shows on a night were in German so the English and other nationalities there did not know what was being said, the Germans also got all the best rooms in the complex, and I was privileged to be in one of these rooms, but this was only because they got our room arrangements incorrect and was making 5 of us share 1 apartment so they put us in the new block to compensate us not being happy, but the staff did all they could to make us happy.
Over all I did like the holiday apart from the little set backs, the nightlife is great and you can always have a good time in the heart of faliraki!! And the staff were always friendly when we rolled into the hotel reception around half 5 in the morning :) they were good times :)
I would definitely go back, but mainly for the nightlife.

Submitted By: Miss JL BondWe had requested a high floor and a pool view when booking the holiday and when we quizzed management we were simply given the excuse that we must pay for a high floor and pool view!
The food was appalling it was very repetitive and we often ended up dining out, we were not very happy about this as we had paid for all inclusive; we found this a waste of money. The entertainment was poor; I would certainly say that the English were the minority and the German the majority! All the entertainment was in German and again we did not feel that the English were catered for.
When at the bar or in the restaurant the Germans always pushed in and were arrogant!
The hotel itself is beautiful and in a good setting with beautiful views, the beach and nightlife is only a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel, the nightlife is fab!
In conclusion I would not return to this hotel, however I would return to the destination of Falaraki as the place itself is brilliant and full of life. I would not recommend this hotel to family and friends, however not everybody has the same taste.
My boyfriend (aged 20) and I (aged 18) made the most of our holiday, after all a holiday is what you make it and we certainly was not going to let anything spoil our first and long deserved holiday together!

Submitted By: Mrs C M SargentAnyway, the hotel. Quite a nice hotel although it's a bit 'out in the wilds'. Food excellent, staff very friendly and efficient apart from the domestic staff who seemed a 'bit off' most of the time. Room - good level of cleanliness. Plenty of good quality sun beds
Beware
A lot of the rooms are below ground level! The 'balcony' is about 8/9 feet below ground level. You look out of your room to see a wall 6 feet away. Part of our group were allocated one of these rooms. To the hotels credit they changed the room on the second day. We overheard several people complain about these rooms.
Beware
The grounds staff turned sprinklers on every morning (except Sundays) until past 8am
drenching sun beds and everything in the vicinity/on the sun beds - this was just silly.
Animation Team - Friendly but seemed to gear all of the activities towards German guests
We all felt that the better accommodation/views etc was allocated to German guests.
Overall quite a nice holiday. Would we go back to this hotel? – No

Submitted By: Miss K LloydThe hotel rooms were very nice, they had air conditioning witch was very good. If you left a bit of food lying around you would get a lot of ants in the room. The cleaners came 6 days a week and always left enough towels.
The food was really good, but in the restaurant you would get a lot of flies around. The town is only a 15 minute walk and it’s easy to get there. The reps were very friendly and did volley ball, water polo, darts etc.
They also did a club for teens and kids with German and English people. At lunch you could always get a seat easily and it went on for quite a long time. We really enjoyed our stay at luca and wish to return next year.

Submitted By: Miss R CarterBooked holiday as a very large group of young adults, as nice end to our A Level exams, and obviously, as students, cost of holiday was a big issue. This seemed to offer excellent value for money; we paid less for it than other groups of friends had paid for 3* self-catered accommodation in other parts of Greece.
When we arrived, hotel seemed much nicer than expected judging from brochure; I imagine pictures were taken a long time ago, before pretty flowers and grape vines had established. Certainly did not do it justice!
Staff were absolutely lovely, most spoke extremely good English and were very friendly and funny. A few of the younger staff even remembered most of our names all week and spoke to us like friends whenever they saw us. Also tried to teach us a little Greek, although now only remember a few words, like hello, thank you, a few others (but no idea how to spell them!) and suggested that we went in to town with them when they finished work. They worked very hard and long hours but still managed to keep sense of humour at all times!
Very pleasantly surprised with rooms. As we booked in such a large group, travel agent had told us that we would share bedrooms in groups of 3; this was likely to be a double room with an extra bed squashed in. In fact, we had very spacious family rooms between 3, with double bed in first half of the room, and two single beds in second part of room, divided by low wall, sliding glass widows, and a curtain. Everything clean, light, and spacious, with good sized en-suite with shower/bath. Both parts of room air conditioned- in the first part of the room this was like a radiator type thing on wall next to bathroom and there was also a ceiling fan, and in second part of room was a remote controlled air conditioning system mounted in top corner. Maid service every day except Sunday. With door closed, no noise traveled in from adjacent rooms, despite their loud music and bit too much to drink, but we couldn’t hear them when doors were shut.
Restaurant was very good, food lovely, great variety of buffet-style dishes to chose from (although this choice only changed slightly during the week, so don't try everything on the first night, as you may be bored of it by the last).
Bar on the top floor had nice atmosphere, soft seating inside, more seating outside on the balconies. We went during last part of world cup, which was played on a large screen in lounge area by bar; atmosphere was great because of variety of different nationalities that visit this hotel. I disagree with other reviews that said that this hotel is German-dominated and makes English people feel out of place- we felt right at home! There were a lot of Germans, but also a lot of French, and many other nationalities, including lots of English! Don't let it put you off- if you want to go on holiday somewhere where everything is English-style, then go camping in Devon! The idea of a holiday abroad is to get away!
Pool lovely, there were two good sized pools and a kids pool, spent most of our time in pool with the bridge over it, and swim-to bar, which served fantastic cocktails! We went just before main school holidays, so at this time it was not at all crowded.
Beach within easy walking distance, not too crowded at time that we went, although i imagine would be very crowded during high season, unless you walk quite a distance along it. The boys loved the range of water sports, whereas the girls enjoyed sitting in sweet little bars at top of beach drinking cocktails!
The town and shops also within easy walking distance, recommend hiring a moped from place just along the road from hotel because it is worth seeing a little bit further afield. If this does not appeal, taxis are very cheap there. There is also a really good water park near by.
Nightlife within walking distance too (we managed it in high-heels, just!), but far enough from hotel that hotel is still very peaceful. When we first mentioned to friends and family that we were going to Faliraki, they all instantly mentioned the club-reps series, although our experiences were nothing like that at all! In fact, the main streets in Faliraki seemed to be a lot calmer at night than those where I live in England! I know we went just before peak season so it wasn’t at it's worst, but even so, I don’t imagine that it could be that bad; everything seemed under control!
The best clubs we found were Liquid, Q-Club, and a few others, where we stayed until about 5am, went back to hotel, waited up for breakfast, then went to bed, got up, had lunch, lounged by pool, went to beach, showered, had dinner, went to hotel bar until closing time, went to town, then started whole cycle again! We usually started off at bars such as KGB, where they gave us extremely cheap deals on drinks because there were so many of us, and then stamped our hands with free passes to certain clubs.
The only slight problem in the clubs was that there was possibly a bit too much attention from very persistent males under the influence of a lot of alcohol. We were in a mixed-gender group so our guy-friends looked after us well if any other guys were giving us unwanted hassle, but I can’t say I would have felt too happy if I had been with just girl mates.
Would definitely recommend this hotel to groups of older teenagers and young adults, particularly those looking for somewhere to go with friends after A Levels or Uni.

You must visit Mikes pub. Its a british pub where you can get british food and watch the footie and soaps etc. You are always guaranteed a warm welcome.
If hiring a car you must visit the Seven Springs and the beach at the southern most tip of Rhodes. There is a strip of sand where one side the sea is calm for beginners can learn to wind surf, but the other side is amazingly rough. What a contrast.
