Jan 2007, Ms B Patrick

Loved the location and Crete, the beach just goes on for miles and miles.
For our days on the beach we went down to the Cartoon bar, just along the road from the studios, as long as we had a drink the sunbeds were free.
Along the main road, where all the bars are, there are good places to eat and not too expensive.
All the food we had was good value for money and although we went SC we ate out all the time finding the SC equipment not that hot in Crete. It might have been where we stayed - although the rep when we asked said ours was pretty much the average.
The family that own the studios are very friendly, as were all the Greek people we met, but the accommodation is very basic - great if you can get it cheap enough!

Costas and his wife work really hard...
7 / 10
Sep 2006, Mr M Osullivan

Costas and his wife work really hard all day and most of the night 7 days a week. They are very friendly and never stop trying to offer you drinks from their bar. Costas is a real business man, always out to make a quick easy euro or 2. Air Con wanted 5 Euro a day and the safe 20 Euro for two weeks, you get the idea!
The accommodation is basic, but very clean and tidy, for 2 star accommodation id say this very good. Note on the pool: Your not allowed to bring you own drinks to the pool side unless you bought them from Costas bar which is a little pricey to say the least.
The area is ok, the main town of Rethymnon is lovely, nice beach and restaurants. Id say, hire a car for at least half your holiday and explore the coastline its beautiful.
We enjoyed the north west the most particularly a little beach with an island on the way to Stavros we compare this idyllic place to Fiji a must see. Down south is ok but the wind doth blow and the sea seemed really cold compared the north. Matala worth seeing.
All in a all a lovely holiday, treat the Adele studios II as a base for exploring the island and I’m sure you’ll agree its a nice enough accommodation and a very fair price.
Have a lovely holiday, best wishes Matt and Steph, say hi to Costas for us.

Aug 2006, Miss L Dunn

Well we were in Adele 11 which were supposed to be better then Adele 1, well they are both the same quality Crap. There are plenty of shops bars all over priced and not cheap at all compared to Spain. Coffee is 2.60 euros same as fags. Food is good in most places only eat where you see Greeks eating they will be the best bet. Reps don’t like bad feedback and are very bias, they get told about no kettles, broken beds, in my case and everything else wrong with the place.
If you want to sleep don’t go the road has lots of noise so does the fridges. The air con is 5 euros a day rip off big time. The pool is small so is the one next door. And the guy just wants you to spend money there in his bar. You buy bus tickets in the shops and are 1.10 euros for a single trip good price. You also buy phone cards there are no coin phones anywhere. Make sure you take lots of little notes 5/ 10 euro notes as no one has change there.
The shingle beach with the sun beds is fantastic but the drinks are very dear on the beach. The train ride for 5 euros is rubbish and takes you around waste land. Loads of mosquitoes and I mean loads and they are invisible but boy they bite and leave a puss bubble behind not nice. So loads of creams and sprays needed. To be honest with you unless you hire a car or your young and a drinker there is nothing to do there but bloody shop I’m a woman and it bored me because there all the same. Over priced cheap tacky nik naks. I would not go back.
No TV in rooms either so take plenty to read and mp3 player. Aldi is up the road so cheap food there I would say buy your shopping there works out cheaper. Water is 1.00 euro but you can get it for 15/20 cents. A meal, drink one glass main and desert will cost about 10/15 euros. Drinks are more dear then food! If you want a good time get a car there, there are loads all about 2 mins from your door spoilt for choice and all work out the same price. Get out and see the sights plan before you go.
I felt more safe there then in Spain people are great as long as you spend money with them. They are not poor there only the local old people are who you will see sat outside there doors in Rethymnon, this is a nice place taxi from Adele to Rethymnon is about 7 euros vice versa. This one is for the young drinker or the explorer. Have fun and remember no matter where you go it's all the same really it's Europe. And people stay safe always be alert.

Aug 2006, Mr J Hulse

Very basic but clean hotel. We were in Adele 1 and had to hire a fan for 40 Euros as no air-conditioning available. The swimming pool was ok but there are better ones in plusher hotels in the area which we used without any problems.
The beach is shingle at the shoreline and quite wavy so no good for paddling. Some excellent tavernas line the main street and there’s a nice family atmosphere at night.
The only down point were the annoying Club Greece reps who ride up and down the main street on scooters all day looking out for prospective buyers and basically harass you to go to a local hotel to attend an hour long presentation on time shares.
In our ignorance, we went along on the first day and after one and half hours were still sitting indoors with no end in sight to the dull presentation by a sales rep with no scruples that he was eating into our short holiday time, so we just got up and left.
These guys were all over the area of Rethymnon and some of them quite rude if you don't agree to go to the hotel for the presentation. Apart from that, the holiday was great and there are some lovely Tavernas on Adele beach were you can watch some of the most beautiful sunsets as you eat.

Aug 2006, Ms JA Davis

Just got back from Hols. Very Very Basic Room. If you go self catering take everything you can with you 'cause there's nowt.
No can opener, bottle opener, toaster, hot water, tea towel, washing up bowl or small pans. Noisy fridge. Cleaned once a week, sheets changed once a week. No plug for bath and friendly cockroaches come up the plug hole at night. 2 bath towels for 3 people and 1 hand towel for 3 people. Had to ask for toilet paper.
Beach shingle, need beach pumps. Take plenty of mozzy spray. Other than that had good weather

Oct 2005, Ms H Evans

Adele1 - Booked with Sunmaster and was told it was a place to get away from it all. All I can say is it is clean, basic and right on a main road which is noisy practically all the time and for that reason if you want a relaxing holiday it's not for you.
There was a lot of hard sell by the manager to drink at his bar and eat at his friends restaurant. Next door at Adele2 the manager was lovely and not pushy. In the end got away to the south side of Crete which was more what we were after.

Adele Studios II is a lovely place to...
8 / 10
Sep 2005, Ms C Watts

Adele Studios II is a lovely place to stay, bearing in mind there's little in Adele of interest if you're the exploring type. Just many "samey" tavernas catering mainly to people who want to eat so-so standard food and shops selling overpriced trashy souvenirs. There’s plenty of supermarkets to get your daily supplies, the grapes and tomatoes are gorgeous and very sweet. Rethymnon is only a short drive away and it's a good base to explore the western side other island. It's also good to drive up into the mountains and find REAL Cretan tavernas where the food is cheaper and MUCH better quality.
The studios are clean and well maintained. The sheets were changed twice a week and the bins emptied almost every day. There was a bathtub and even a shower curtain in the bathroom. Almost unheard of in Greek accommodation! I was lucky enough to be placed at the front of the building, as the rooms on the back can be very noisy from the main road behind them. The only problem I had with the room was the aging and VERY noisy fridge that I had to resort to switching off at night.
Nice sized pool and children’s pool out the back. The beach is somewhat sharp pebbly, so buy some beach shoes if you intend to spend time there. If you drive out through Platainias though, the beach is much nicer between there and Rethymnon.
The owners were very friendly, and seemed to work every single hour of the day and night.

Jun 2005, Miss E King

Adele is a lovely area just outside of Rethymnon, which can be easily reached by bus or taxi.
The apartment was small and basic (two single beds pushed together) but really clean and in a very good location near lots of shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants and the beach. (Check out Istros restaurant for the best Greek food and Mojitos and Skypark for bars) The owner Costas is very helpful and friendly but doesn’t speak much English.
Overall a lovely place I would recommend it.

We had a fantastic Holiday!! Adele is a lovely little place with plenty of bars and restaurants although we spent nearly every evening in nearby Platanes. (you HAVE to visit n go dancing in SKYPARK!!!)
Studios were very clean but the apartments are split into two, Adele I and Adele II, if you get a choice go for Adele II, they are lovely, Costas is a gem, does anything for you and the pools lovely, we were in Adele I and it was nice enough and clean but the owner can be very standoffish and pretends he doesn’t understand your English, also took to just walking into our room any time (two girls both under 25) which we didn’t take kindly too!!
all in all we have a brilliant holiday and would def go back again!

Aug 2004, Miss K Milne

These studios are very basic you would probably eat out every night. The traffic is noisy but the family that run these apartments are lovely. They are spotlessly clean (and I’m fussy!!) The pool is small but nice. The bar downstairs to studios is open until you go to bed! Costas is the owner who has a wife Dimitria and two daughters and a son. They were so lovely. I went with a 5 yr old, 10 yr old and my mum who is a pensioner. The food is lovely in all restaurants. The beach is right opposite but slightly gravely and not the Med. It’s the Aegean, which has waves, and a few rocks. These studios are in a prime location close to everything.

Adele 1 & 2 are ideal for those who want a basic accommodation in a prime location. They are situated in Adele, which is one of the main tourist areas in Rethymnon. They are 2 separate accommodations, which are run by 2 brothers both are fantastic and look after you. Great for couples and families of all ages!
Right on the main road through Rethymnon and only 5 Mins walk from all the restaurants, bars and shops. Plenty of lovely restaurants nearby must visit the White Lady for their Greek dancing night!
