Barcelo Avenida Reviews
" The Barcelo Hotel, Bibao is ok.... "
Submitted By: Miss JENNIFER DELLEY
The Barcelo Hotel, Bibao is ok. Rooms are clean and quite spacious, the staff are friendly although some do not really speak much English. We were told that there was a pool and spar available to use for guests but it does cost an extra £11.00 per day which was a let down.
The town centre is not really walking distance but there is a tube station round the corner that takes you in to the old town. There is a hotel restaurant which is quite expensive which offers meals such as scrambled egg and pineapple for £12.00. I don't think I would go to the hotel again.

The hotel is modern, clean, very comfortable and staff are efficient. It will not win any prizes for character or charm but it does what it says on the tin.
You are a steep 10 minute walk to/from the old town (Siete Calles with its restaurants, bars and buzz). If you walk to the Guggenheim from here then it will take you at least 20 minutes. To be honest, Bilbao isn't the most picturesque of cities through which to stroll.
The reason to stay here is that in my experience it usually offers comfortably the best price/quality ratio in the city. Pay more to stay in the heart of the city but you probably won't have a better room.
